If it's alright, I may start to play through it in June with the thought of finishing in July. I'd love to participate, but July is setting up to be one of the most chaotic months of my life, so when it hits I don't know how much gaming time I'll have, if any.

I still have my originally copy and beat this back in the day.  Unfortunately, the game is at my parents so i won't be able to play it again but I did beat it back in the day!

Having absolutely no say in this, I'd say go for it! Play it however you want! I haven't played it via Mother 1+2, so I'd be interested to hear any differences.

I also wanted to say that if you have any potential issues with seizures or lights flashing, I would recommend the VC or possibly SNES Mini as there are some sections that have flashing lights/screens that have been blurred out further on the later releases.

Yes, we are not concerned with what you play the game on, only that you enjoy yourself.....or not enjoy yourself if the game happens to suck.

I know it's early, but I posted some rough locations you might want to shoot for in a week. I ran through the game quickly and based it on those times, so they may be a little off, but please don't try to rush through the game, especially if it's your first time. Take time to explore, talk to as many people as you can as there is a lot of fun text in the game. Also, be sure to talk to folks after major events as their text may change... I'm going to try to avoid spoilers as much as possible, but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

I started playing this morning. This is my first time ever playing this game and I am loving the heck out of it, so far. Using the guide, to help out, here and there.

I played more today. Juggling my weekend gaming, between Earthbound on the SNES, and Xcom 2, on my Switch. Going to have a week off in July, so that should help with completing Earthbound.
