Title: Yet another video game movie: Alone in the Dark
Post by: Lord Nepenthean on January 06, 2005, 05:21:27 AM
I just found out about yet another video game-based movie that is sure to be a steaming piece of trash.  Alone in the Dark will now be made, starring some great actors.  I hope they have footage from the game spliced with live-action shots too, like in House of the Dead.

I saw previews for this and I was wondering if this was based on the game.  I'll probably go see it.

So will I.  But seriously, Christian Slater and Tara Reid??  What are they thinking?

That was gruesome. I wouldn't want to see her without clothing again. This movie will suck of course. Uwe Boll, the genius behind house of the dead, can't even direct a commercial.

Wow, I didn't even notice that this was by the same guy when I pointed out House of the Dead in my original post.  I was half joking when I kind of suggested this movie could suck half as much as House of the Dead.  I feel sorry for whatever poor sod hired this guy for this new movie.

Oh man, I might end up seeing that movie since it's sounding like it'll blow so hardcore. I couldn't even play that damn game for fifteen minutes before freaking out and then sleeping with the lights on for a week.

I saw a preview for it and didn't even realize that it was based off a game.

Kyle... I was gonna lend you that game a million years ago. But I couldn't because it actually belongs to my mum. Don't you remember that?

Yeah.  I knew it was a game, but I didn't realize that the movie was based off the game.  That's how bad it looks.

I heard that this is one of the worsdt movies ever.  Apparently the opening scroll (Think opening to Star Wars) is the longest in movie history.

I also heard that it only made like 2.5 million on it's opening weekend.  Pathetic.

I just saw this movie last night.  Afterwards, I wrote a letter to Uwe Boll asking him to never make a movie again.  The movie was NOTHING like the video games, and had horrible music (except the song during the credits which was amazing).  Tara Reid as an archeologist was just hilarious.  The worst problem with this movie though?  It was completely incoherent.  Camera shot transitions were confusing as hell.  Please, Uwe, STOP.  You've made us suffer enough.

P.S.  I was going to give this movie a 1/10, but then I watched Pauly Shore is Dead afterwards.  That movie gave new meaning to how horrible a movie can be.  It reset the scale, so Alone in the Dark ended up getting a 2/10.

Who the hell hired this guy to make all these video game movies? Hell why not hire him. His first 2 tries at video game movies did great  ::)

Far Cry (2006) (announced)
Fear Effect (2006) (announced)
Hunter: The Reckoning (2006) (announced)
Night Claws (2005) (announced)
Dungeon Siege (2006) (pre-production)
Bloodrayne (2005) (post-production)

My jaw literally dropped open when I saw that list.  It makes me very sad for humanity.  I knew about Bloodrayne, which is bad enough, but Jesus Christ.

We can only hope that his skills increase with each movie...I'd love to see a quality movie for Dungeon Siege...but I guess that's unlikely ;)

I watched Alone in the Dark and Pauly Shore is Dead with Mike that same night. Afterwards I had to look at Tubgirl for six hours just to get a nicer image in my head.

Yup, and Steven Speilburg is going to be directing a Fatal Frame movie too.  I actually have hope for that one.

You know, I didn't feel like going out this weekend after the bender that I pulled last weekend.  This is perfect!

I told my cuz about it and he said "I'm not wasting my time watching that"

Then i told him we were going to make an "event out of it" and he loled and agreed that it was definately worth watching then.

I wonder how many people we will be able to get together.
