Title: Virus
Post by: vivacejohn on January 02, 2005, 04:37:54 PM
Have any of you heard of a virus stuck in one of the collections? You click on the collection, and a picture of Pres. Bush (or some such) is waving his fist behind a window that says "Windows will now crash" (or something like it)?

The leftover effect seems to be only a sound generated randomly while online.

Any thoughts?

lol, I don't even think that is possible.  Anyone have the link to that collection?

There is no way that anyone can put any kind of code into their collection, so there is no way anybody could do that.

If it makes anyone feel better, I just went through all collections, no problems.  If anybody did have that happen on our site, it was probably some trojan that they got elseware that decided to start up at the same time they were viewing our site.  I have never heard of a virus like that.  Who told you about it?

P.S.  Stop trying to scare away our loyal members from the collections lol :)

Don't get me wrong, I love the site! :) I just don't want anything to happen on it. I also re-browsed every collection--to no avail. Just wanted to know if anyone else heard anything.

P.S. Nobody told me about it. It happened to me here.

While it is possible to get a virus from a web site, the admin of the site has to put it up. And the people of RFGen would never do such a thing.

You may want to look into getting some form of antivirus and antispyware program if you dont have one, or updating the definitions on the current programs you have.

Check out Spybot Search and Destroy.

Roger that. I'm on it. Hope this was simply a random occurrence that coincided with the  use of this hallowed and awesome site. More to follow . . ..

Yeah spybot and adaware are two of the most used anti-virus programs.  I suggest getting those and running them.  And you do know I was joking about scaring people away, right? :)

Found the problem. What rhymes with "stupid head"?! It was some silly new buddy sound set by an AOL contact. Nothing to worry about--except how to heal a bruised ego. Perhaps with a classic game . . .
