Title: NFL Talk
Post by: Sirgin on March 19, 2012, 01:44:48 PM
Back from the past! Talk about the NFL.

How far will Peyton Manning and the Broncos be able to go next year? Playoffs? Super Bowl?

Title: Re: NFL Talk
Post by: SirPsycho on March 19, 2012, 02:19:04 PM
Maybe the playoffs.

I'm more interested in the Chiefs building up an offense this year. I have to give them credit for playing hard nosed defense that just got better and better with each week.

Steelers win the Super Bowl though, that's my prediction every year. :D

Still can't believe Peyton went to the Broncos...any idea what the Broncos might get as an offer for Tebow?

Title: Re: NFL Talk
Post by: singlebanana on March 20, 2012, 11:05:51 AM
I think the Broncos get better, but really are only a playoff team, not a contender for the title.  I can't believe Peyton didn't go to the 49ers with the spectacular defense and running game that they have.  Seemed like a perfect fit if he wanted to win a Super Bowl quickly.  However, it has more to do with control issues. Harbaugh, while a player's coach, is THE coach of the 49ers.  Peyton controls teams and makes his own decisions at the line.  I think Peyton's move has less to do with being on a championship contender, and more with his ego.  Being from Carolina, I can tell you that John Fox is a good defensive coach, but a supreme dumbass when it comes to offense.  Peyton definitely saw an opportunity to become is own offensive coordinator.

As far as Tebow, he can basically go anywhere to help boost a teams merchandising.  Let's just hope he stays the hell away from Chicago.  Go Bears!

Title: Re: NFL Talk
Post by: Shadow Kisuragi on March 20, 2012, 12:50:53 PM
Tebow won't go to Chicago, that's for sure - you guys have a decent QB. I see him going back to Jacksonville, or Miami. He's a Florida boy at heart, and Jacksonville is really hurting on ticket sales. It's also right near his stomping grounds in Gainesville. Miami, on the other hand, honored him when the Broncos visited! WTF! They still need a QB, and they've been known to run the Wildcat, so he'd fit in well enough... I just don't see the Dolphins president being that stupid, though.

EDIT: Can't find the appropriate scene, but I see Tebow fitting into the Futurama scene where Leela gets sent in as the first female pitcher.

Title: Re: NFL Talk
Post by: singlebanana on March 20, 2012, 12:56:41 PM
Yeah, I was just joking about Tebow going to Chicago.  They have Cutler and two good backups in Campbell and McCown, so there is not reason to go after him.  I'm a bit surprised that Denver isn't keeping him to sit behind Manning and learn, but I guess if things start to go south for Manning they don't want to put up with the "Tebow" chants.  I agree with the Jacksonville move; they can't get any worse.

Title: Re: NFL Talk
Post by: Sirgin on March 20, 2012, 01:16:27 PM
It's easy to see why Peyton picked the Broncos and not the 49ers or Titans. 49ers are an NFC team, which would mean he could kick the Giants out of the playoffs (or vice versa). Clearly he doesn't want to deny his brother a chance to get to the Super Bowl. Going to the Titans would be very rude towards the Colts. The least he can do for the team that made him who he is, is to stay out of that devision. See Favre to Vikings and how much Green Bay liked that.

Plus, after running the option with Tebow the Broncos need an entirely new scheme anyway, which means Peyton can do his own thing.

If you look at it like that, it makes perfect sense.

Title: Re: NFL Talk
Post by: Shadow Kisuragi on March 20, 2012, 07:58:32 PM
I'm with you both, honestly. Peyton went to Denver because he could control the offense and basically be his own coach (John Fox is a pushover), and not have to deal with his brother in the NFC. Although, you can be certain he'd love to meet up with his brother in the Super Bowl, just to prove something. ;D

Yep, to prove that Eli is the better Manning.  I think Peyton is done.  He was always slightly over rated, greatest winning quarterback in the regular season and gets bounced in the first round in the playoffs every season.

Go Seahawks.

He's there, they just decided to go with Russell Wilson. According to my sources, um wiki, Flynn signed a three-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks worth $19.5 million, with $10 million guaranteed and Wilson signed a four-year, $2.99 million contract. So the starting QB is making a bit less than the backup.

I was hoping someone with better info would answer this as I haven't had much of a chance to seriously follow the NFL this season.

Russell Wilson won the starting job over Flynn because the coach thought he was more talented and ready than Flynn. It was one of the pre-season shockers.

Since the Jags won this weekend I think many of them are fine with the first draft pick, they've already given up hope for this year. It really wasn't all terrible, Charles is a beastly runner and their O-Line opens up big holes for him to run through. The passing game sucks but so do the QBs. I don't think the D is all that bad either, just has a few holes to fill up.

I heard a rumor that the Chiefs may be looking into Tebow for the QB position. If all else fails, they'll have a running game.

Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning win the Super Bowl for the ultimate come-back-from-injury-plus-year-of-inactivity and kick major ass. If Manning can keep down the INT's he'll probably win MVP, too. Unless Brady ends with another 40 TD 4 INT season.

Isn't it a bit like last year? They were a bad team then, too, yet they beat the Packers seemingly out of nowhere. It's curious how often a "bad" team ends up beating the best/one of the best teams of a season. Maybe the good team let their guard down too much and then gets beaten.

I think some of it is letting their guard down, some of it is injuries. For the most part it is simply how good everybody in the NFL is. The difference between the best and the worst teams is tiny. Most other sports leagues aren't like this, an easy example would be college football. In NCAA football you can't imagine the worst team beating one of the best teams.

The NFL, because of footballs popularity and accessibility, ends up with only people who are among the best athletes in the world. Not that other sports don't have elite athletes, it's just that the NFL only has them.

So, although there are teams who are better than other teams, the difference is so small, if any little mistake is made the opponent will be all over it.

On any given Sunday....

I have a feeling this'll be one of those seasons when everyone remembers the draft class (i.e., 1984, 2003 for basketball). This season, to me, has been all about first year quarterbacks:

-Andrew Luck has the Colts back in the playoffs and leads all rookies in passing yards.

-Robert Griffin III is a pro bowler and one of the most exciting players in the league.

-Russell Wilson has turned the Seahawks into one of the scariest offenses in the league.

-Brandon Weeden, despite not winning a lot is actually second among all rookies in passing yards and has steadily improved.

-Ryan Tannehill has quietly had a solid season for a rookie quarterback on a bad team.

-Nick Foles took over in Philly and appears to be a solid backup, at least

-Kirk Cousins only got to fill in for RG3 a couple of times but he certainly didn't look out of place.

It's remarkable to see how much early success these guys have had at a position which is historically very slow to develop.

Title: Re: NFL Talk

Well, after starting out 7-1, my Bears really stunk it up for the remainder of the year.  I'm not sore about a 10-win season, but it sure would have been nice to have been in the playoffs.  I was really pulling for that Packer win to unseat the Vikings, but you can't rely on another team to win games for you nor do I feel the Packers are even the slightest at fault.  When it comes down to it, one more win in a close game would have most likely sent them to the playoffs.

Now, they just fired a good coach and there is decent among the players with the management.....  They've done a great job of filling the skilled positions on offense, and the defense is as good as ever, BUT you can't win without an O-line, plain and simple.  Stupid and wasteful draft pics and lack of O-line pick ups in the off-season are to blame.  How does this fall on the coach?  Who knows?  Seems like the GM should have gotten the boot instead.

Sorry for the post-season rant.  To chime in, I think the Seahawks are a really legitimate team as well.  Seems that this years Super Bowl winner is really up for grabs.  Should be an exciting post-season.

I really think the Broncos have a big chance of winning the Super Bowl. They have the best combination of a good defense plus a high scoring offense, in my opinion. The Texans' offense looked quite poor the last few weeks. NFC I find harder to tell. Maybe the 49ers or the Seahawks.

At the same time I wouldn't be surprised to see the Patriots back in the Super Bowl. They so often find a way. For Brady's sake he better win the next one, though. Being 3-3 in the Super Bowl wouldn't look that nice. :P

Andy Reid officially KC's head coach Monday afternoon.

What exactly is the logic in hiring a coach that just got fired from another team? I know it happens all the time, in virtually all professional sports, but still. He's not going to magically change into someone else, or change his coaching ways. So if he failed to "make it happen" for the Eagles, why would you expect him to do so for the Chiefs?

(My question really has nothing to do with Reid in particular, just kind of popped into my mind)

During his 14-year tenure, Reid has compiled the best win total (120), winning percentage (.609) and playoff victory total (10) in team history. He was the longest tenured head coach before he was fired. He is known for developing quarterbacks.

He has the experience we need in a coach now. Haley didn't have that and Crennel wasn't the head coach we thought he could be. Should have known from Cleveland, but he had a good run with Orton. Once Orton left for a backup job, Crennel didn't have the offense he did when he was winning.

You didn't answer my question at all. I was asking more in general. It happens all the time when coach X gets fired by team A and then immediately hired by team B.

By the way...if Reid is that good and experienced, why didn't the Eagles keep him? If he's known for developing quarterbacks maybe he could've developed that new guy, Foles?

Andy Reid used to have an amazing defensive coordinator to play smash mouth football and compliment McNabb when he was in his prime.

Since his coordinator passed away he has not been able to fill the position with anybody worthy and the team has struggled. A head coach is more than just drawing Xs and Os on a white board and inspirational speeches, his coaching staff exists to nurture the talent of the team and make sure everybody is playing as a cohesive unit and helping to come up with the game plan.

The Eagles didn't really want to fire Reid, but they felt now was a good time while they were struggling to bring somebody in to revitalize the franchise and start rebuilding around new players and schemes. This happens quite often as a matter of fact, Bill Belichick was fired by the old Browns just before they moved to Baltimore, 5 years later Brian Billick and the Ravens won the Super Bowl in his 2nd season with the team. And Bill went to coach for the Patriots and has 3 rings himself.

Just whipped out My Mattel Football II handheld game, and played out tomorrow's divisional games.

Green Bay at San Francisco:

GB  14   3   14   3     34

SF    7  10    7    7     31

The Niners spotted the Packers a 14-0 lead before battling back to a 17-all deadlock at halftime.

Green Bay won it on the final play with a field goal that was set up by a 49ers interception.  :'(

Baltimore at Denver:

Bal    7   7   0   10   6    30

Den   7   7   7    3    0   24   (OT)

This one went back-and-forth all day, neither team managing a lead greater than 7 points.

While the Broncos put the game into overtime with a field goal, the Ravens won the toss and drove for the winning touchdown just three minutes into the extra period.

Well, whattaya think? Personally, I think the resulting score in the Ravens-Broncos sim is a bit high.

The real shocker for me was calling the overtime.

Quote

Well there's still 20 minutes left.

And even though SanFran's forced a punt, they're presently on their own 7...

UPDATE:

A 2-TD lead with just under 6 minutes left? I hate to say it, but methinks this one's over.

Well, actually, I don't really hate to say it... ;)

Oh great, GB just gave the Niners a first down on a penalty. Buncha morons...

Okay, NOW it's over.

Now I can put up my Mattel Football II predictions for tomorrow's divisionals.

Houston Texans at New England Patriots

HOU   0   3   7   14    24

NE     14  7  14   6     41

Not much excitement here, as the Pats built up a solid lead and held on. From the second quarter on, the Texans never got closer than 11 points away. The Pats will go on to host the Ravens for the AFC championship for the second straight year.

And now: the one that RetroRage and Nupoile have been waiting for: The Bird Bowl.

Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons

Fair warning, guys: you're gonna be sorely disappointed.

SEA    3   7   0   7      17

ATL   14  10  0  10      34

The Seahawks never really got into the game, as several three-and-outs in the first half and turnovers in the second half doomed them. They had some opportunities in the third quarter with two long drives, only to be intercepted in the red zone both times. Another INT in the fourth quarter set up the put-away points for the Falcons, who will host the NFC championship for the first time in franchise history against the Packers 49ers.

Sorry, guys. I guess it just wasn't in the cards this year...  :(

Wasn't it, though?

Weird thing was, I was watching it on NFL.com's GameCenter virtual field, and even that seemed exciting to me.

BTW for some reason, I always like to see Peyton Manning choke in the postseason. I find it a miracle he ever even made it to a Super Bowl, let alone won one. I also get a laugh out of the fact that the "lesser" Manning has twice as many Super Bowl rings as "the chosen one" does.  :D

Still, I am gonna miss seeing a possible AFC championship matchup between the Broncos and the Patriots. 'Cuz no one makes Peyton Manning his bitch more than Tom Brady.

Peyton and the Broncos were over rated all season.  All but two of their wins in the regular season were against scrubs, and ALL their losses were against playoff teams.

And they lost in the first round to the first playoff team they faced.  I'm not surprised at all, and I'm tired of hearing people call it an upset.

Man, there's definitely some truth to Manning not being as good in the playoffs as he is in the regular season. When it comes to the playoffs, Eli might actually be better. Although the Broncos defense is the biggest reason they lost that game. The TD pass to Jacoby Jones shouldn't have been allowed.

I expect Atlanta to loose against the 49ers. They nearly lost their huge lead against the Seahawks.

Green Bay needs a better defense or they'll have the same thing happen to them next year.

I'm kind of rooting for the Ravens to win one more SB as Lewis is retiring, but I think the Patriots will win.

Title: Re: NFL Talk

All right, here are the conference championship sim results.

AFC Championship

Baltimore
            7   14   6   3        30

New England       0     3   7  14        24

This one was the big shocker. By somehow managing to contain the Pats' offense, Baltimore jumped to a 21-3 halftime lead. New England had several scoring opportunities in the third quarter, but was only able to muster up a TD. The Pats' final drive fell well short as time ran out, and the Ravens will be heading off to New Orleans to face...

NFC Championship

San Francisco
     7   7    10    10     34

Atlanta               3   7     7      7     24

The first half went back and forth, with 3 lead changes as the 49ers took a 14-10 advantage into halftime. SanFran would extend that lead by another 10 points in the 3rd quarter and never relinquish it, burning up the remaining time with long scoring drives, all of which covered 85 yards or more.

And there you have it: get ready for the Harbaugh Bowl. The ultimate pigskin Civil War as brother faces brother on opposite sidelines as their players duke it out for the championship.

Now let's see how it really turns out...

Yeah, 'cuz when I think highbrow, I think Twitter.

That last statement was sarcastic, by the way.

Sadly, I'm a bit too long-winded with my thoughts, making twitter an inadequate venue. I also doubt that anyone outside of these forum walls really cares about my thoughts on things. Actually, I doubt most people inside these forum walls care. Of course, one can always scroll down to the next comment.

I finally managed to catch the highlights of the NFC championship, as I was working during the entire game and all. And boy, was it an ugly one. But like they say, it's better to win ugly than to lose pretty.

All right, time for me to troll RF Generation's Pacific Northwest contingent:

Hey, Seattle Seahawks: THAT is how you come all the way back from three scores down, and not blow it at the end!

And now it's back to following the AFC championship. I really do want a Harbaugh Bowl, but I'll take Tom Brady going up against his fave childhood team, too. I bet ya didn't know he actually saw "The Catch" in person...

'Course, to be fair, the Seahawks started out with the NFC West. I guess we felt a little sorry for 'em, and decided to take 'em back. God, what a horrible mistake that was.

Tell me again, when was it the neeners filled that trophy case? Was that back when they were unfairly stockpiling the worlds supply of elite quarterbacks? I'm working during the Superbowl.  :(

The only people who should be working during the Superbowl are the people on the field.

......are you Colin Kaepernick?

I do think it should be considered a paid holiday Stateside.

Well, I can say for certain the Niners aren't going to pass four times on their final possession with under four minutes to go and up by 2 scores. And they finish with 3 pass plays....

I think you need to have your sim checked out.

I've picked against the Ravens every other round of these playoffs, so I'll stick with that strategy and pick the Niners to win... I guess that this year, you get to pick between the team comprised of homophobes and the team led by a murderer (I'm pretty sure that's what the people on TV are telling me).

I'm going to watch the Superbowl alone.  I hate SB parties.  Its full of broads that don't watch football and dude-broads that don't watch football either, they're just there for the chicks.  They talk during the game and they're quiet for the stupid commercials, then when the game comes back on the broads/dude-broads talk about the commercials they just saw.  "i didn't like that one" "how much do you think that one cost" "that was the best one so far" bla blah BLAH.

If you don't know what the shotgun formation is, i don't want you at my house.

I'll be watching it with my best friend and a few of his family members at his place. Fortunately, we tend to be pretty quiet during the game, occasionally commenting on a particularly notable play. And when the commercials come on, it's bathroom break time. Hey, if I really wanna check out the Super Bowl commercials, I'll look at them on YouTube.

Oddly enough, although most of his family members are Raiders fans and the rest support the Niners, my friend follows the Dallas Cowboys. I asked him how the hell that happened, and he told me that not even he knows why he chose Dallas. Needless to say, I'm guessing he's rooting for Baltimore so the Niners don't overtake the Cowboys on the Super Bowl tote board.

I'm aware that 49ers head coach Red Hickey developed and used a modern form of it back in the early 60s. Following its debut in the 49ers playbook, it led to an upset of the Baltimore Colts and a string of lopsided 49ers victories until the Bears found and exploited a weakness in the formation. It fell out of favor after that game, and wasn't really seen again until Tom Landry dusted it off in the 1970s for the Dallas Cowboys to use.

Yikes. What a finish.

A bummer of a finish for the 49er faithful, but who woulda guessed they'd roar back like that after being all but buried. But even I hafta admit that, when you get down to it, the Ravens deserved to win it.

Whelp, I'm gonna go drown my sorrows in a Double Gulp of Mountain Dew while playing a few XBox games I borrowed from my best friend.

Hopefully I'll be in better spirits when the arena league season starts in late March.

Until then,

This was the second Super Bowl I've seen live. Watching the event here in Europe at 12PM - 5AM certainly isn't ideal. I could've certainly missed that 35 minutes power outage (what an embarassement!) that caused me to be in bed even later. Also, those halftime shows are stupid.

The Ravens deserved to win. The 49ers would've won easily had they not let themselves get 28-6 behind. Was their defense sleeping? Anyway, Keapernick has a great future ahead of him. The Ravens certainly couldn't stop him.

Yeah the halftime shows are getting worse.  The superbowl game isn't the main focus anymore.  Superbowl Sunday has turned into a multimedia day of corporate big shots sticking their hands in the american consumer cookie jar.

Yeah, no kidding, the SF game is more than double the cost of most of the rest of the games. For the cheapest tickets currently on Stubhub anyways.

The Rams are Dec 22 and the Cardinals are Dec 29. Don't know if I want to go up to Seattle so close to Christmas.

Rams, SF 'niners and Cardinals are all in the same division as the Seahawks, for those of you wondering....the more important games to go to.

Heard much of the Niners-Packers game on the radio today. Caught the highlight reel after I got home. A nice little back-and-forth, with SanFran holding on to win. The visuals show a very unfriendly vibe between the two clubs, highlighted by the interactions between 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick and Packers LB Clay Matthews.

http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap2000000240534/Clay-Matthews-late-hit-on-Colin-Kaepernick

It might be too soon to say this, but this game could very well be a preview of the postseason...

On another note: I see that they had the old "49ERS" logo painted in the end zones today:

Well, there's always the America's Game: The Missing Rings episode on the 1988 squad. You know, I actually dug those guys, even if they did have the misfortune of going against SanFran in both of their Super Bowl losses.

I even liked the '81 team, with the likes of Ken Anderson, Ross Browner, Isaac Curtis, Dan Ross, and perpetual second-string QB Turk Schonert. Hey, wasn't it 1981 when they debuted the orange-and-black tiger-stripe unis? What a major improvement over their uninspired Cleveland Browns ripoffs of the past. I'm glad to see that Paul Brown was finally willing to let go of his bitterness at that point.

Forget about Packers-vs-Bears, Steelers-vs-Ravens, or Cowboys-vs-the-rest-of-the-NFC-East-- the premier divisional rivalry in the NFL today is Niners-vs-Seahawks!  :boxing:

And anyone who claims otherwise is lying to himself, case closed.

Browns vs Raiders?

They aren't even in the same division, silly!

Speaking of the Browns: the original, pre-Baltimore-Ravens was one of two AAFC refugees that managed to not fold after joining the NFL in 1950. Can you guess which team the second long-term refugee was... and still is?

Another bit of trivia: two defunct AAFC teams got kind-of-sort-of-resurrected-- one in the NFL in the mid-1950s, and one in the AFL in 1960. Can you guess which two teams?

Hints: the NFL team joined the AFC after the NFL-AFL merger. Both teams were in the same division after the merger, but were separated after the 2002 realignment.

AW HELL YEAH!!!

It's the NFC championship matchup everybody's been expecting and waiting for! And I DO mean everybody! Don't even try to say it isn't, 'cuz if you do, you're a big fat smelly liar!

And the AFC side of the NFL final four is nothing to sneeze at. Can Peyton Manning finally stop being Tom Brady's bitch, like he has been so many times before, especially that big choke job in the regular season where Denver blew a 24-0 halftime lead?

All right, off to bed with me. Gotta get up at an ungodly hour so I can count all the register money before the store opens...

That's because Manning had to play with a shitty defense for years in Indianapolis. How could that one little stat possibly give any indication?

I don't wanna hear that.   The defense was obviously good enough to go 12 - 4 every season when he wad with the Colts.  It pisses me off that he gets all the credit when he wins, but everyone blames the defense when he loses.   Well which is it?   It can't be both.

Oh yeah,  and THE SEAHAWKS ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!!

Aaaaand I'd say this one's pretty much done, even with twenty-five minutes left to play. Seattle's had the momentum from the get-go, what with a safety on the first freakin' offensive play and all. Add a pick-six and a kickoff-return TD, and this is shaping up to be the most lopsided Stupor Bowl since Denver's last big-dance shortfall. I'm sure the Vikes and Bills are happy to not be the first five-time losers at least.

Only one question remains: could we be witnessing the first shutout in Super Bowl history?

UPDATE: Aaaand for the 48th straight year, the Super Bowl remains shutout-free.

BTW this one's takin' me back to the mid-80s-to-mid-90s period, when the NFC champion usually won quite handily.

Well, my team just sucks.  I am done watching football this season. There is no way the Miami Dolphins are going to a Super Bowl with the shitty, corpse like Coach Philbin and  lets just get rid of our defensive coordinator. This talented team needs and deserves better coaching staff.

Tannehill is mediocre, but I think he has the talent to be better. But only if he has some coaching staff that will trust him, and work with him more.

I know you Seahawks hate him, but I hope Miami can make a deal for Jim Harbaugh.

BREAKING NEWS! AN RF GENERATION EXCLUSIVE!

Due to the shame of the Seahawks eating the big one in the Super Bowl, Microsoft, Nintendo of America, Boeing and Starbucks will be moving their respective corporate HQs to the greater Boston area, effective immediately. UPS is also looking to move to the Boston region, even though they haven't been headquartered in the Seattle area since before the Seahawks were established. "Better safe than sorry," stated chairman-CEO D. Scott Davis regarding UPS's impending relcoation.

"It was bad enough when they changed their uniforms to that barfy color scheme a few years back," said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella after the loss, "but this choke-job is the final straw. I mean, seriously, fluorescent green? what are they, roadside construction workers? Hell, seeing that they blew it, they may as well be."

Nadella also added, "I'll be calling Electronic Arts and NFL's licensing department first thing tomorrow morning to tell them that we will not under any circumstances allow the XBox One release of Madden 16 with Russell Wilson or Marshawn Lynch on the box cover. Let Sony and Nintendo put those ham-and-eggers on their stupid game box covers."

"I sure hope those lame-os take an Airbus back," Boeing chairman W. James McNerny stated after the game. "God forbid they should fly on one of our brand-new state-of-the-art dreamliners and infect it with their loser-cooties."

More details to come as I make them up...

Nah, Vikings-Bills. One team will finally get off the shneid.

Or howzabout Lions-Browns? Yeah, there you go-- two teams that have won championships before the Super Bowl era, but have never been to a Super Bowl before. I think Detroit's the only NFC team left that hasn't gone there yet... for painfully obvious reasons. Well, technically the original Browns have won it twice... as the Baltimore Ravens.

Though I live in NC, I'm not a Panthers' fan.  I've been a Chicago Bears fan since I was a kid and I've never been willing to give that up for the sake of proximity. I get a lot of s@$t for being a Bears fan here (even from my father-in-law), but I quickly explain that I have been a football fan for more than 15 years. Will I be pulling for the Panthers on Super Bowl Sunday? Yes, but the reason is that for whatever reason, the Bears and Panthers trade more than any other teams I have ever seen. There are several former Bears on the Panther's current squad and I'd love to see them get a ring. Even Coach Ron Rivera played linebacker for the notorious '85 Bears.

It had a few fairly amusing moments here and there. Otherwise... meh. Still more entertaining than those insipid "Rap Battles Through History," though. 'Course, it doesn't hurt that the bad-lip-reads haven't been around as long as the rap battles, and thus aren't overexposed to the point of not being even remotely amusing anymore... yet. Give it a few more months, and they'll be as stale and lame as the Harlem Shake and Gangnam Style.

ANYway, I'll be working Super Sunday pretty much through the end of the game. Fortunately, considering the place I work at, combined with the game venue being less than 10 miles away, it'll likely be a pretty easy work shift...
