Title: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? Post by: Marriott_Guy on February 10, 2009, 07:39:20 PM Hello all.
I have a thread going in the Video Game Generation forum concerning Handheld systems and my decision to enter into collecting them. As you know, consoles are my bag - not handhelds. Everyone has been a tremondous help in educating me on this foriegn territory. I have been acquiring some systems and need your help again - am I paying a fair rate for these systems? Here is what I have recently added:
Well that about does it concerning my handheld additions. I have researched prices on eBay prior to these purchases, but if I have been taken to the cleaners please let me know. Thanks in advance all! Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? Post by: Tan on February 10, 2009, 07:44:29 PM Those all look like great prices to me, especially the Game Boy and GBA LE. Seems to me there are very few Game Boy Originals out there in that kind of shape CIB. If there are more of them I doubt most would be lucky enough to get one at that price!
Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? Post by: Fuyukaze on February 10, 2009, 09:14:30 PM the price for the express alone more then makes anything else look bad. That's the cheapest I have ever seen a CIB copy fetch. My god, I wish I had found it first!
Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? Post by: blcklblskt on February 10, 2009, 10:05:04 PM Great prices so far, especially on the Turbo Express! :)

Wow... Nice finds man, and the prices are amazing! Now, for variants of all of those!!! Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? Post by: Sirgin on February 11, 2009, 10:23:58 AM Those prices are great, as far as I can tell. And the Turbo Express, wow! :o
Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? Post by: Izret101 on February 11, 2009, 01:20:30 PM Unfortunately the Platinum isn't really Limited Edition like they tried to make it out to be. Just like the platinum GCN.
But all in all those don't look bad at all especially the shipping prices from overseas! I agree with logical. Start picking up those variants! There are some very cool ones(Famicom Micro for example) Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? Post by: Marriott_Guy on February 12, 2009, 02:42:54 PM Thanks for the feedback everyone. I am trying to get the initially released units in their original packaging. Handhelds seem to have a greater variety of packaging than consoles. If I have not picked up one of the originals, please let me know.
Thanks again! Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? Post by: Izret101 on February 12, 2009, 03:33:30 PM I dont think the silver was one of the GBA launch colors if your being picky.
I know fuscia was one of them. i believe arctic was another... i cant remember the other 2 or 3 off the top of my head Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? Most consider it to be the "default" color as it was the for GameCube as well. The Black one from Toys R Us was a nice one too. Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? Post by: cant-grow-up on February 17, 2009, 12:09:35 PM seems like your off to an early roll to me (where'd you find the wonderswans if you dont mind my asking). I totally forgot about the GB micro
Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? Post by: Sirgin on February 17, 2009, 01:03:20 PM Are you going to keep collecting handhelds, now that you've established that you don't like them?

Post by: Marriott_Guy on February 19, 2009, 09:28:06 AM seems like your off to an early roll to me (where'd you find the wonderswans if you dont mind my asking)... The WonderSwan systems are a dime a dozen in Japan and extremely easy to come by (eBay, yahoo.jp, etc.). Do not spend allot on these base systems. Are you going to keep collecting handhelds, now that you've established that you don't like them? I wouldn't say that I do not like them - it would be more accurate to say that I am trying to identify the niche in my personal gaming world for them (time, etc.). And yes, I still plan on rounding out the collection with these little guys as evidence of my recently added items : Dreamcast VMU (BNIB), Nintendo DS (CIB), Nintendo GB Color - Teal (CIB), Nokie N-Gage QD (CIB), Gizmondo (NIB).Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? That's nice to hear. They're still devices to play games on after all, so why not collect them too. :DAnd nice additions to your handheld collection! Quick question: What does BNIB means? Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? Post by: Marriott_Guy on February 19, 2009, 12:22:14 PM Thanks Tom. BNIB = Brand New In Box
Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? Post by: Sirgin on February 19, 2009, 01:02:27 PM Thanks Tom. BNIB = Brand New In Box Thanks for the quick response. :) I never heard of that abbreviation before until now.Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? Post by: Marriott_Guy on February 19, 2009, 01:09:06 PM Might be because I made it up :) Most times it is just referred to as NIB
Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far? Post by: Izret101 on February 19, 2009, 03:26:38 PM nah i've seen bnib before.
its just kind of redundant. Congrats on the new pick ups. I'm surprised with the VMU. It's only a handheld when used in conjunction w/ the dc. Did you grab it specifically because of the portable gaming? Or just because you could? Title: Re: Handheld Additions - Am I doing OK thus far?
