Title: games problem Post by: Spenny J on February 10, 2009, 07:16:58 PM Hey gang,
I've got this old zenith tv from the 80's, a Zenith Space Command hahaha, and I'm trying to play some games on it. My master system, turbografx, and nes work well on it, but my genesis II and snes have this weird screen-jump thing going on. It kinda looks like you're shaking the tv around. Oh yeah, I'm using rf, no composite vid. any ideas? thanks guys Title: Re: games problem Post by: Tan on February 10, 2009, 07:30:23 PM Are you using different RF adapters, or more than one jack?
Title: Re: games problem Post by: Spenny J on February 10, 2009, 07:31:30 PM naw man, one jack, with a string of rf adapters
Title: Re: games problem Post by: Izret101 on February 10, 2009, 07:34:03 PM I am pretty sure when i was younger i had the problem of SNES not working thru my Genny adapter.
Or vice versa... Have you tried just swapping the arrangement? Or moving from channel 3 to 4(or vice versa.. again) Title: Re: games problem Post by: The Metamorphosing Leon on February 10, 2009, 07:34:41 PM Just smack it a few times.
Title: Re: games problem Post by: Spenny J on February 10, 2009, 07:36:11 PM haha unfortunately i've tried all of those.
any more smacking and my tv won't work anymore the systems do work properly on other tvs, which is why i'm rackin my brain here Title: Re: games problem Post by: Tan on February 10, 2009, 07:37:20 PM naw man, one jack, with a string of rf adapters Maybe daisy-chaining it is causing signal degradation? You should try a coax splitter instead like this: http://www.summitsource.com/images/products/SP1008.jpg or this http://www.drillspot.com/pimages/425/42516_300.jpg You can find them just about anywhere for a buck or two. Swap the order so the Master/TG16/NES are in the place of the SNES/Genesis and see if it does the same thing. Title: Re: games problem Post by: Spenny J on February 10, 2009, 07:41:13 PM could try that
the genny or the snes plugged in on their own still flicker, though. It's quite a nauseating flicker, too, i'm getting dizzy haha Title: Re: games problem Post by: Tan on February 10, 2009, 07:46:22 PM What kind of TV is it?
Title: Re: games problem Post by: Spenny J on February 10, 2009, 07:47:53 PM a zenith system 3 from the 80's
Title: Re: games problem Post by: Tan on February 10, 2009, 07:52:59 PM Found this on another forum:
http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?p=45649 It may be the TV Brand itself. Title: Re: games problem Post by: Spenny J on February 10, 2009, 07:58:33 PM heh, probsly SOL here. Got other tvs, though.
Thanks for your help there, Tan. Much appreciated. Title: Re: games problem Post by: Fuyukaze on February 10, 2009, 08:34:48 PM Try each one seperate and see if the problem still ocours. If not, it's from too many hook ups. If it does, try different cables. If not, it was the cables. If it still happens, I'm at a loss if they work on other TV sets without the same problem. Chances are though it's too many hooked up at the same time. I'd recomend only hooking up the system you currently plan to play. Sure, you'll have to spend a whole 2-3 minutes hooking up another system when you want to play it but you'll avoid the headache of multi systems.
Title: Re: games problem Post by: James on February 10, 2009, 08:38:24 PM Have you tried fine tuning the TV?
Title: Re: games problem Post by: Spenny J on February 10, 2009, 10:28:05 PM yeh, i've done some more looking into it and it seems that zenith hardware from this era is notorious for not being able to handle some older video game systems.
No biggie, I have other tv's in my house to play these one. This particular one was just in a convenient location. Title: Re: games problem Post by: Tondog on February 11, 2009, 11:39:39 AM My aunt had this type of TV, and I remember whenever I played my SNES, NES, or even some PS1 games on it, the screen would be jumpy. Must be something with the video signal and how those TVs interpret it. You're probably out of luck on that one.
