RF Generation Message Board

As you have probably noticed in the last week or so, the total number of games in the database is quickly growing.  This is thanks to (who else?) Eddie Herrmann, aka St0rmTK421, aka The Black Perl.  Anyhow, all of our staff members now have the ability to easily and instantly add games to the database.  No longer do these additions take ages to actually show up on the site, and no longer will I be the only one who can add them.

So, because of this, any games you would like to be added can be posted here and will very quickly show up on the site.  If you only have one or two games to add for a European, Japanese, Australian, Brazilian (or other) console, that's fine too.  We can add them individually now without problems later.

The only exceptions to this are variations of games already in the database.  We're working on a more concrete system for identifying these and will let you know as soon as it is complete.

Also, a user version of the title addition script our staff members can now use is in the works.  Eventually, you won't even have to post missing games here since you'll be able to submit them for review automatically.

That said, post any missing games here for now, from any region of the world.

It takes 2x longer for me to add missing info than for you to add it yourself to be reviewed. Since multiple staff review info those can be added much quicker than games.

The versions I listed are different as they're pack-in variations.  I messaged IZRET101 about it previously and he went ahead and suggested I list them as new titles.

Do the pack in's play different or are they differnt from the normal games?

Because if not, I wouldnt list them as a seperate game listing personally.

I mean Super Mario Bros, SMB 3, Tetris were pack ins with the NES.

More recently, Halo, Star Wars Clone wars / Tetris Worlds... ect,ect,ect....

Let's wait on this one and see what is up.

In these cases, they're essentually varients.  They're in a completely different and unique sleeve and the discs have different information printed on them.

I think this is something that needs to be talked about with the rest of the staff.

I mean Super Mario Bros. 3 which came as a pack in game with the NES challenge set had "Challenge Set" printed across the pack in box.

I still say they are just variants. When we get the hardware list going  we should add they pack in games under each system.

I've got some Atari 2600 games to post. Don't know much about these, so have some queries first. If a cartridge doesn't have a P in the part number, by the name on the cart or stuck on the side of the box, am I right to assume it's a US game? It still works on my PAL console - is this right? If not, should I add them as European?

I think so but I am not sure about the P. The P might tell if it is a game released by Atari but not sure for other companies. Just post them all as PAL I was say.

I'm not sure about this one...it's listed in the database, but it's largely incorrect, and I think the listing would need a major overhaul in order to accomodate an edit.  The listing for "Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Bonus Disc" for GameCube is just way wrong...it was included with a full version of Metroid Prime that was bundled in a system bundle back in '04.  I know because I have the bundle.  Now, the reason I don't just edit it is because each disc has it's own item number, yet because they were bundled together, and came in the same packaging (the case for Metroid Prime has a blurb on the corner...if I get my scanner running I'll submit a pic), I don't think they should be listed as separate items.  Am I wrong in this assumption?  And once again, sorry to put this here, not sure whether I should have made a separate thread or not, or where to put it if not.

the Castlevania game i listed says on the box The Castlevania Adventure not the other way round.

And its written Megaman with no gap on the network transmission games its something Capcom has done for all of them

A general rule for searching the database is using the advance search, and checking the games for only that one system that you are looking for.

Sometimes, I use only one of the titles words....

Example:

Advanced search -> Sega Saturn (us region) -> Virtua / (or cop) either one.

This is not a missing game but I didn't want to bother starting a new thread.  I noticed that we split out NES RBI Baseball into a Licensed and Unlicensed version but the game images need fixing.  The Unlicensed listing shows the Licensed as it's image and the Unlicensed is there a extra media.  Someone proably knows about this so this may just a reminder.

And www.gamespot.com along with www.gamestop.com are good for finding out publisher and developer info. I find Gamespot is more correct than Gamestop, but I also use a few other sites to cross reference stuff.

It is usually stated in the small print on the back of the case saying "Developed by" and "Published by", sometimes it is on the game disc too, especially applicable to Playstation games.

If that fails www.gamespot.com tell you who the developer and publisher are of games. This only applies to U.S. games though as I've noticed some of their publisher info is wrong for PAL games.

There is a bit of an error in the database.  There are two Need for Speed Underground Player's Choice in the database.  Is one of them supposed to be Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 Player's Choice because that one is missing from the database. These are both Gamecube games.

Please pm an admin about this, as this thread is for submitting missing games. Or post about it in the Announcements, Feedback and Suggestions forum.


EDIT: Since I actually had the time, (not really since I have about 50 new titles to enter) I checked into the fact that there was 2 of those in the database.

Basically one of them was supposed to be "Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2".


Luckily nobody actually had this game in their collection, otherwise I would have had to notify everybody of the change. Well you get the point anyhow. Sometimes those small changes can be a lot of work.

Which is why this thread is specifically for missing games only ;)

Well, I was right than I guess.  That is why I didn't enter the game into my database because just like you said people would need to be notified if they had added the game into there collection.  Anyways, I should have posted in the other thread but wasn't thinking correctly. I have a question I was hoping a mod or someone could answer.  What is required to prove a game is different then another with a similar title?  Would links to online stores work?  Would screen shots from the game work?  I'm a bit confused on the requirements for distingushing one title from another as I have found one game I apparently am having issues with.  Any clarification would be appreciated.

It's ok.  I can definitly understand a busy home life as I've had one the previous weekend as well.  Sometimes boring is actualy a good thing.  I wasnt sure so I figured I'd check before getting upset or anything.  Everyone has a personal life and sometimes it cant be helped if it takes center stage and everything else falls flat.
