I've got a 2000 Chevy S-10. It's a 4 cylinder so it doesn't have all the power I would like, but it's good enough for 95% of my driving. It even manages to carry a bed full of firewood with no problem.

1993 Plymouth Sundance Duster w/ 126,000 miles on it.  It's the six cylinder model, looks sweet, and has a ton of torque and horsepower.  And it sounds great :).  I just need to re-assemble it ;D

After my 1992 Buick LeSabre died on me, I got a 1999 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition. I really like it, but I'm not a fan of the gas mileage.

I've probably shouted about it enough for everyone to know, but I drive a 2008 Peugeot 407 SW and I'm doing up a 1990 Rover Mini. :) We also have a 2005 Vauxhall Corsa. The Corsa is crap. :(

A 1977 Buick Electra Limited. Got about 99,000 miles on it, a shoddy transmission, leaky valve covers, and a busted out back window where someone decided they wanted it for their own. The odometer is broken, as is the speedometer. It does have a suicide knob and a dashboard clock that's probably 5 inches in diameter. Not the prettiest thing in the world, but it drives comfortable and gets me where I need to be.

A 1977 Buick Electra Limited.
Just looked it up and I must say it looks cool!

I know that's not so special over there in the US, but that kind of car would definitely draw attention here in Europe. :)

Thumbs up to that. And BED, ever think of restoring her? Also, what kind of gas mileage do you get?

Gas mileage is NOT good. Between 12 and 14, probably. The furthest trip I ever need to make is about 15 miles though, so it works fine. And no, I don't think I'd ever restore it. Too much money and time.

1998 Chevy Z71 Truck, Bought it New with 33 miles on it.  And I have babied it the whole time.  Now it has 206,000 miles and still runs like a champ.  I will drive this truck until it dies, and even then I will probably just buy a new engine for it.

Knowing Chevy trucks, it will probably rust away before that engine dies
I've already patched one rust hole in the body and now the tailgate on mine is rusting away. My dad's 93 1500 has almost no fenders left in the back as they've just rusted away.

It has been a reliable work vehicle. We bought it about six years ago while I was stationed in North Carolina. It had low miles and was garage kept. I like it and it runs good, but I rarely drive it anymore.  My wife drives it to work and her job is less than three miles from our house.

2000 Grand Prix GT V6supercharged(not nearly as good as it sounds) 85k.

Its a 4sedan but whenever i have had to buy anything for it the options seem to be exclusively performance/sports car.

I am still debating if i want to try and get rid of it for a cheaper more fuel efficient car or get it all fixed up.

I drive a 2002 Pontiac Vibe. It's one of the models with AWD, important for Canadian winters. It's got about 88,000 km. I only lease it, but it's been a dependable car with no complaints and I may opt to buy it once the lease is up.

Nothing fancy, just a 2009 Ford Ranger with a Mazda 2.3L DOHC engine. Great on gas 23 miles city and around 25 highway. Eventually I'll get this bastard fitted with a Mazda turbo kit. Want to keep it looking stock when I do it to keep it a sleeper. Well except for my tinted windows that I already got.

2005 Ford Focus ZX5, AKA my little "4-cylinder putt-putt," and "my favorite money pit."

It's pretty much Ford's subtle attempt to copy the look of the Chrysler PT cruiser, if not the performance.

I've put 120,000 miles on it so far. The original transmission gave out right before the warranty was set to expire, so I dodged a financial bullet to have it replaced.

Other replacements made:

- Front driver- and passenger-side manual window roller-upper handles (both broke right off within a couple months of each other)

- At least three sets of brakes

- God knows how many sets of tires

- Front driver-and passenger-side seats

- Ignition assembly

A couple months ago I broke my key off in the trunk lock; the piece that broke off is still stuck in there. Fortunately, my dash has a trunk-release button, so it's just a minor inconvenience. But what really sucked was that it was one of those chip keys that cost me $70 to have made.

BTW if you think I've put this car through the wringer, you might be shocked to know that what it's gone though is nothing compared to previous autos I've driven.

I've only put around 18000 miles on it since I bought it three years ago. It was owned by an old lady who barely drove it. When I ran the VIN, I saw it was driven around 12000 miles in 1993. I bought it at 18000 miles, so she barely drove it after the first year.

I don't own a car.

My dad's '02 Mercedes has 440k km on it. According to google that's 273k miles. I'm pretty sure it could go twice that distance easily. It's the same model that a lot of cab drivers use here in Belgium.

An old car with that kind of mileage on it is pretty much worthless, even though it could drive forever. Last year my dad had an accident (a stupid woman drove into the side of his car, basically) and they had to tow his car away. The insurance told him the car was total loss. ::) It took my dad almost 4 weeks to get his car back and repairs were only €3000 in the end. Of course the car still drives perfectly.

Of all the vehicles I've worked on in my life living here in the states I can honestly say the vehicle that I've seen with the most miles with original engine and trans is a '02 Chevy S-10 pickup truck. 488,000 miles (785,600 KM) on this damn thing and still going. Thats pretty damn crazy! Not many vehicles come close to the longevity of a GM product. They may not be high class but GM vehicles can outlast any high end import here in North America. Thats coming from a Ford guy! I work on cars for a living and I can honestly tell you whats a POS and whats a good car. And yes I know there are vehicles that have outlasted this amount of miles/KM but GM has the best amount of longevity, and their pretty cheap when it comes to repairs to keep them going... forever.

When I see GM vehicles being junked its simply because they rust away before the engine gives out. I had a 84 Cavalier in high school, the outer sheet metal on the doors and fenders were rusted through halfway up. The floor on the driver's side had completely rusted through (I actually had a cookie sheet under the carpet so I didn't fall through). But, the engine had over 200,000 miles and ran perfect. Sure it had blown through a couple head gaskets, overdrive had to be disconnected, and the gas tank leaked and only held 2.5 gallons at a time. It didn't matter if it below 0 outside and it hadn't ran in years, it would start right up and didn't smoke or anything.
Having that car makes me glad that my S-10 now has essentially the same motor. Too bad my wheel wells, tailgate, and rear door are already starting to rust through.

This is my weekend/distance car, a 1991 Isuzu Impulse RS with a few mods.  Fuel mileage is awful though so that's why I scoot during the week.

I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about cars, but I've never even heard of one of these.  It looks pretty awesome!

Time to update
1998 Chevy S-10 4.3L V6
2012 Volkswagen Jetta S.E. 2.5L i5

That S-10 will probably outlast the newer Volkswagen. Just dump oil into the S-10 and it should last you 420,000 miles. The Volkswagen may last 250,300 miles if your lucky.

Thanks!  I have had people chase me down to ask what it is exactly; most folks I run into have never seen or heard of it before.  :)

Quick explanation about these unique, overlooked cars...

Among all registered Isuzu Impulse varieties in the US, there are ~2,300 still on the road as of 2010.   Most are of the XS trim level which is a 3-door, front wheel drive hatchback with a 130hp 1.6L 4 cylinder. The RS is all-wheel drive, turbocharged, 160hp 1.6L 4 cylinder built with forged pistons, crank and connecting rods.  There were ~800 RS models imported to the US for only one model year, 1991.  Isuzu WAY overbuilt these turbo engines and conservatively supplied them with only 7 lbs of boost and a 8.5:1 compression ratio so they could run until the end of time on 87 octane.  This engine was also used in the late 80's front wheel drive Lotus Elan.

Mine has 146,xxx miles, RTR coilover suspension, RTR short throw shifter, a Turbine Tech exhaust manifold and a Garrett GT2554R turbo supplying 14 lbs of boost.  It requires 89 octane which is another reason to daily my scooter :p.  I have never had it on a dyno so I don't know exactly what sort of power it makes but my "butt dyno" says it's somewhere around 225-230 compared to other cars I've driven with similar power levels.

The Impulse RS was originally priced the same as the Eclipse GSX which was a faster car (195hp).  So Impulse RS' just didn't sell.

Yep, it has 168k on the clock and runs like new.  The chevy 4.3L imo is one of the best motors made along with the 4.0 i6 iron duke used in Jeeps upto the TJ.

No wonder I haven't seen one before.  I've been wanting a nice -80's or early 90's turbo car for a while.  I'd love to have a CSX-VNT, but I know that will never happen.  A Spirit R/T is high on my list as well.  :)

There aren't too many aftermarket performance parts for the turbo Dodges, but I can only imagine how impossible it is to find stuff for the Isuzu.  Good work!

I work on cars for a living and I see you are spot on when it comes to good engines. The Jeep I-6 High Output engine is the best gasoline powered engine ever built... period. I see tons of Jeeps come through my shop that have over 300,000 miles on them with the original engine and trans. They leak oil like crazy but as long as you top it off the engines will last you forever.

Other than the Jeep 4.0L engine I can safely say the next best engines are GM's 3.8L series II V6 and Fords 4.6L V8. Those vehicles that run off those engines never seem to die. Their not efficient but their built like a tank.

I don't hate Volkswagon/Audi but I cant seem to tell how many miles they have on them. On most of the vehicles from '97 through the late 2000's they have a monochrome red LCD screen in the dashboard that tells you the mileage and other various information. The pixels seem to burn out after a few years and it makes it impossible to read the vehicles mileage. So it's hard for me to tell you how many miles the average Volkswagon gets. Though if I gave a crap I could always hook up a scan tool to the OBD II connector port and get the mileage through the PCM.

Well my old Yamaha Thundercat finally gave up the ghost, so its been replaced with a very well looked after Suzuki Bandit 1200, I need to make a few changes to it first one is replacing the horribly restrictive and quiet end can. Also going to fit cam links fom my old gixxer, mx bars, fork brace and see if the set of 6-pot Hayabusa brakes I've got knocking around will fit on it

I've had my Honda Ruckus for a couple years, but haven't gotten around to registering it yet. Insurance is a pain around here, it's like they don't want your money.

I've always liked the style of the Ruckus.  If it were available in 2-stroke then I would've gotten it over my Zuma.  It appears you've done the chassis extension mod?

Ya it has two extensions. I can understand wanting the 2-stroke, I tried a friend's older Zuma and it was much more fun. Maybe one day I'll do a 150cc engine swap.

Here's my 2012 Honda Fit!

My family has been a Honda family since the early 80's, and it's almost all we drive.  I used to own a 2007 Fit, but the engine started to miss a few months back...  when I was at a red light and it "skipped", it was so bad it felt like I was hitting a bump while completely stationary.

The dealership had a rough time duplicating the problem, and they finally diagnosed it as a problem with the air conditioning unit.  It was $800 to fix, money I didn't really have.  Just wanting to look at my financing options, they actually offered me a 2012 at a similar price that I was paying for the '07!  Sure!  Don't mind if I do.

I was pretty much sold on the colour alone.  haha

I drive a black 2007 Trailblazer. :) Very happy with it, it's a reliable vehicle that I plan on keeping for as long as possible. Not the best gas mileage, but not the worst either.

Back story: One day in 2001 I picked up my mail and headed to my barracks room on Camp Walker, Taegu, South Korea.  In Sergeant E's Stuff magazine (anyone remember the Maxim competition?)  there was a promo for a chili contest.  I knew that I was the master of great chili, according to my soldiers, so I spent some time writing down my not so exact recipe (one of about 6 different styles I've made).  When I felt that I had perfected my own creation, I had them try it and all wanted more.  So I sent my recipe to the Marlboro Chili Roundup, and YES I was one of the 50 winners!  Want a copy?  http://www.amazon.com/Marlboro-Roundup-Flavor-Winning-Recipes/dp/B000CSQRC0

Because I spend most of my time these days in a vehicle provided by my employer, my PRIZE WON 2002 Ford Ranger XLT (fully loaded) honorably sits in the driveway.  No major upgrades, no major alterations.  52,000 miles since I won the Cherry Red beauty about a decade ago.  Total value of the prize package: $26,000+.  Yes, my truck is completely paid for.  And your vehicles on this post are?

And my winter recreational vehicle is a 2006 Polaris RMK 700 snowmachine with Fire-n-Ice air, SLP exhaust, soon to be installed SLP Powder Pro skis.

I'm really surprised that Google can't display any recipe from the 50, but I would enjoy spreading my recipe throughout the site if someone wants it.  Just PM me.

Right now I have an '09 Saturn Vue. Kinda a kid-mobile. We also have an '04 Ford Freestar minivan. My recreational vehicle that doesn't function properly is an 1986 Dodge 600 convertible.
