Title: The Wonders of Craigs List
Post by: blcklblskt on August 13, 2008, 01:06:35 PM
I am currently in "negotiations" with the lister of this Craigslist post:  http://cnj.craigslist.org/tag/792739029.html

I can't make out too many details, but from what I see, it looks like:

NES
NES Advantage
Zapper
2 controllers
Atari 2600 4-switch
1 controller
Genesis 1 with Sega CD, and base extender
3 Genesis Controllers

Super Smash Bros Melee

and numerous other games and manuals.

However, the seller does not know if these systems work  :'(.  That is what is making me think twice about buying this lot.  Although it would give my a collection a little boost for things I want, I'm tired of buying systems that don't work or require hours of troubleshooting and fixing.

So the question is: Do I buy it and hope they work, or just ditch it?

I'd skip it. $20 it might be a good deal, but with the Nes missing it's cartridge door and that Atari looking like it hasn't be used since the 70's, $20 wouldn't be so bad for the rest of it but definitely not $40.

I'd go for it for 30-35 because there might be hidden goods.  There is a Sega Cd Model 2 in there some genesis games and a few others.  I'm interested if the big case the genny is sitting on has anything in it. Might be full of games or something of interest/ Make a 30-35 offer and see if he bites.

I say no.  I have been burned man times on "I am not sure if it works."

I don't press my luck anymore.  (No whammy, no whammy, no whammy, STOP!)

I agree with modest9797 on this one. People sometimes abuse the "I don't know anything of videogames and don't know if they work"-quote when they're trying to sell broken systems.

I might buy it if you'd know they work, there's quite a lot in there.

Yep. That's the nice thing about CL - good deals ALWAYS pop up if you have patience and know how to look for them. Hang in there, pal :)

Alright I'll wait :P

I'm still kicking myself for not getting 6 boxed Vectrex games for $30 though : )

I waited long enough and found this one  ;D

http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/ele/795687724.html

18 N64 games for $30.

I could probably sell Mario Party 2 and 3 for $30 on ebay.  This has some other great games that I was looking for also like Banjo Tooie, Paper Mario, Majoras Mask, and  Pokemon Snap.
