Title: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: MrFizzle on August 09, 2008, 08:53:46 AM So...What was the first game you ever played?
It doesnt matter what system or how old the game is just post what it was that brought you into gaming Ill start: The first game i ever played was Starfox 64 The reason this was the first game i ever played was because as a child my parents would never have allowed me to own any video games (not even a gameboy), so the only way that i was able to get my hands on a game was to go over to one of my friends houses. One of my good friends had an N64 and the first time i went to his house he was playing Starfox 64 and he let me play against him, after that every time i went to his house i always want to play Starfox 64. So that was the first game i ever played Id say i was about 8 years old when that happened Now i own 5 N64's and i do have Starfox 64 Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: Mr. Ksoft on August 09, 2008, 09:10:34 AM I'm not even sure, but I believe it was an edutainment title on a Mac.
Now if we're talking actual games, I'm pretty sure I first played Lemmings on MS-DOS. I was quite good at it for a 4/5 year old. Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: hXd on August 09, 2008, 11:46:35 AM Mario Bros.
Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: BadEnoughDude on August 09, 2008, 11:56:16 AM Pretty sure it was Mario Bros. for me, too.
Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: The Metamorphosing Leon on August 09, 2008, 01:15:01 PM Black and white Falcon on my parents old SE-30. Never really knew what the hell was going on; but I spent hours at it.
Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: Sirgin on August 09, 2008, 01:29:40 PM Wolfenstein 3D for the PC in 1993. I was 4 years old. (A bit too young for the game, I was scared of the dogs)
Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: Darth Sidious on August 09, 2008, 01:55:09 PM Well, I don't remember exactly which game happened to be the first one I ever played, cause there were 3 games that might hold this distinction.
It started back in 1993, when my dad borrowed a Super Nintendo from a friend of our family, since he figured my little brother and me would like these video games, and the 3 games he borrowed along with the console were Super Mario World (not really a surprise...), Jurassic Park and Disney's Aladdin (even my mom, who's not really into video games, liked that game). A couple of months later, we eventually bought a Super Nintendo, but these three games remain my first ventures into the video game realm. Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: Shimra on August 09, 2008, 02:09:21 PM Some NES game probably. We had an assload so I'm not too sure which it was. Hell, I didn't even have a single game that I played more than any other (maybe Megaman or Duckhunt).
But for the SNES, we got that along with Super Mario World, Daffy Duck: The Marvin's Missions, and NHL something. We took turns playing while our parents allotted time and the game everyone played was Super Mario World. I chose Duck Dodgers. Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: Cobra on August 09, 2008, 11:32:13 PM I have been told it was Space Invaders on the 2600.
As I was only 4 months old there is no surprise I can't actually remember this :) Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: Feechy on August 10, 2008, 12:53:31 AM My absolute first one was probably Turtles IV and I can't remember how old I was when I played. But the first game I wanted, and played, was Rampage 2: Universal Tour...Shut up.
Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: NESman93 on August 10, 2008, 01:40:14 AM I think...Super Mario Bros. on SNES on Super Mario All-Stars
Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: totalgridlock on August 10, 2008, 04:37:04 AM Probably some really old DOS game.
The first games that stick in my head though are Tutti Frutti on C16 and Super Mario Bros. on NES (of course). I'll always remember the first game I bought with my own money, too: TIE Fighter on PC. Classic. Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: Atarian75 on August 10, 2008, 06:35:30 AM When I was a kid, every Friday night my family would go out for dinner. This was the early to mid eighty's so every bar/restaurant usually had 1 or more arcade machines. It may or may not have been the first, but my first memory of playing a video game was Pac-Man on one of these Friday night outings. I knew nothing about the game except what I heard other people talk about at school, which was you were supposed to eat the "dots" and "blue" ghosts. Well, I kept trying to eat "Inky" the blue ghost and would of course die trying. Eventually, I ran into the power pellets and all the ghosts turned blue and it made sense, but I was pretty confused at first. Anyway, my parents bought me a Atari 2600 and pac-man a few years later and I have been hooked ever since.

Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: ga5ket on August 10, 2008, 12:43:45 PM Space Invaders at the arcade when I was on holiday with my folks at a small east coast town - and bear in mind this is the UK, so we weren't exactly forward thinking with our gaming technology. The limit of games for me at that point had probably been pinball, or when the parents and arcade owner weren't looking a quick dip into the slot machines. Space Invaders was such an eye opener
Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: modest9797 on August 10, 2008, 11:42:41 PM Frogger for the PC.
Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: Haoie on August 11, 2008, 01:40:02 AM Oh my, it's been so long.
I suspect it was either Commander Keen 2, or Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure. Both on PC. Good times, good times. Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: Raence on August 11, 2008, 04:01:32 PM Ummm, I think maybe it was super pong IV or frogger or tetris at one of the local bars. Those were the days, free pepsi and a roll of quarters with tetris. Although do we get to count the football game where the little guys shook around?
You guys made me remember this portable hockey game that was two players, really ancient. I gotta find that now.... Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: MrFizzle on August 11, 2008, 04:57:17 PM hey r u talking about the hockey Game that is made of metal with the poles that you push in and out and turn to hit the puck?

Post by: Antimind on August 11, 2008, 11:00:07 PM Pac-Man in the arcade in 83, I was 3 years old. Shortly after that our cousins gave us their Atari VCS (Sears model). All downhill from there...lol

The Oregon Trail was my first game too! But I had the MAC version, cause back in the mid 90s, my mom only used macs for teaching. :D Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: Fuyukaze on August 13, 2008, 12:14:36 AM Probly Pong but could be something else. My memory gets a bit fuzzy when I was 4. First console game I played was I believe megomenia for the 2600.

Post by: Antimind on August 13, 2008, 11:31:46 PM The Oregon Trail! I played the shit out of it in school. Catholic school, Apple II! Anyone remember the Microzine stuff? I have quite a few of those in the Lego-style hard blue case. I don't remember which issue it was on, but there's a choose your own adventure game I used to love. You were in an old (haunted I think?) mansion trying to get out or something.
Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: BiohazardSEGA on August 16, 2008, 04:43:57 PM The first game I ever played was either Pitfall or Space Invaders for Atari 2600.
Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: bum-man on August 19, 2008, 11:31:13 PM The first arcade game I played was PONG, the first computer game I played was Snake on a Commodore PET (the game was loaded from the built in cassette tape drive, how high tech can you get!!), the first real console game (we had a Telestar Pong unit but I don't count that) was Combat on the 2600 heavy 6'er I still have.

Post by: Silent Scythe on August 20, 2008, 07:40:25 AM If I remember right mine was Ballon Fight. Me and my dad would play all the time *sniffle*
But if it wasn't that then it was Monster Party. Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: nester on August 22, 2008, 03:16:56 AM I'm too little to remember the exact game, but it would be one of about 20 Atari 2600/7800 games. It was probably Pole Position II. That would've been about 1988 I think.
Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: TraderJake on August 22, 2008, 11:26:40 PM I am going to have to guess Mega Man II.
Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: logical123 on August 23, 2008, 12:45:23 AM I am going to have to guess Mega Man II. DANG! Post by: AndyC on August 23, 2008, 08:20:19 AM It will have been one of a few 2600 games, but I have a feeling it will have been Skiing by Activision. I would imagine this will have been circa 1984/5.

Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: dotDarkCloud (dDC) on September 10, 2008, 12:26:08 PM First on the PC/Mac would've been some old Reader Rabbit or edutainment title, and first on console would've been either a Genesis title or Sega CD. I can't remember.
Title: Re: What Was the First Game You Ever Played? Post by: James on September 11, 2008, 03:40:51 PM I remember there was something on a green-screened computer, possibly Asteroids. If not, it was a close rip off.
Soon after my dad got a Mega Drive and I played Sonic The Hedgehog. I was so impressed but didn't get past the Green Hill Zone until many years after. |
