What are the games you got the most addicted to?

I've enjoyed many RPGs through a couple of playthroughs, but I'm not inclined to be that addicted to them throughout.

I tend to get drawn into turn-based strategy, so the first game the totally hooked me in was M.U.L.E. on the old Atari 800 computer. It was later ported to the NES. It was here that my addiction to resource-management, turn based strategy games started.

Now, I'm feeling that same level of addictiveness with Sid Meier's Civ Revolution. They nailed the resource building, combat, and strategy...and giving it a board game feel. Imo, he's got another hit franchise. There's a lot of potential should he have a sequel/expansion as well.

Demon Attack, Tetris DX, Age of Empires II, Snood, Silent Service, Astro Warrior & Doom II. There are a few others but these ones are still played heavily, sometimes in marathon fashion even now. Not necessarily my favorite games, but they sure tug at my time and attention. :)

Dead Rising.  I probobly logged at least 200 hours on that game in the first month.

The last game I really played a lot of was Puzzle Quest for DS, but it eventually got far too frustrating and repetitive. Outside of that, there's really not a lot that I have played regularly.

Super Stardust HD is amazingly addictive.

I was convinced to buy it (traded in some stuff) after playing the demo for it. Started getting into it and decided to stop because I could definitely see its addictive quality.

200 hours! How many times have you played through? Did you get all 1000 achievement points?

Pitfall II - Lost Caverns (Atari 2600) & The New Tetris (N64) are mine. I am still addicted to both. I'm beginning to get hooked on Mario Kart Wii.

It seems like Tetris (in any form on any console) is the only game that can constantly bring me back almost every week for years.  I've played Tetris that much ever since I got my first Tetris game, Tetris Plus, on the Game Boy back in... 1998 or so.  Nothing else even comes close to the amount of time I've played that game.

just to name a few...sorry but i dont have many good genesis games...Sonic 1 and 3 are boring to me because of the difficulty factor they pose on some levels.  I also dont have many NES games, and there are lots of PS1 games i have yet to play...

I'll have to say Pokemon Gold with about 117 hours logged (that cart has gone missing  :'() and SA2:B with about 40-70 hours logged (My original save file was deleted, I had almost all A's and was only missing like 5 emblems).

WoW...

Tapper in the Arcade...I forgot all about that one! Gotta be the Budweiser machine, though. That was the only arcade game that I ever mastered. :D

I thought of another console game. Turn based strategy again. Master of Monsters on the Genesis.

Also played Ramparts on the C64 alone, or with a friend to the point it had trouble loading... damn magnetic medium.

I think I am at 940/1000.  I have played through the main story 5 or 6 times, the other stories maybe 2-3 times each.

5-6 years ago I was terribly addicted to RuneScape  :ninja: I played it non-stop for like 6 months, it was crazy.
But when I look back on it now I can't understand what I liked so much about it, because the game has some serious flaws if you think about it.

What I also noticed with myself is that MMO games in general are really addictive. But when you quit the game for like, a week, the addiction is totally gone. I've played Guild Wars a year or so ago and was addicted to it for like a month or 2. Then I had to stop gaming for my exams and after they were done I never felt the desire again to play GW. I've tried it a couple of times though, but the addiction/appeal is completely gone. (Not a bad game though!)

Funny thing. I'm taking a little bit of a break from Sid Meier's Civ Rev. But even though I haven't played it in the last couple of days, I'm thinking about what I would like to do with new strategies, etc. for the next time I do play.

I'll be picking it up again soon I'm sure.

I feel exactly the same way! I used to play runescape like no tomorrow. Then, I took a 2-5 day break, came back to it, and said to myself "Why am I playing this ???"

Yes exactly! It's the weirdest thing, isn't it? The addiction almost immediately fades away when you take a break from games like that...
And to think that all you do in the game is level, level, level...gives me shivers down my spine just thinking about it now.

I much more appreciate singleplayer games now. I like the fact that (most of them) actually END at a certain point. That's the fun about them, once you finished them you can move on to the next game :P But MMO games can last for years and you've still played only one game. (MMO's kind of ruin your other gaming activities)

My most addictive game is Earthbound. I already beat it at least 10 times, but I can't stop playing it.

These are some that I can remeber obssessing over. And I would play so long I didn't even know what time it was.

Alright now today it's Sid Meier's Civilization: Revolution. Even though I just got the demo I can't stop playing it!

The one game that's eating my soul right now is Mario Kart Wii. Other than that the only titles I can recall spending hours on are Final Fantasy games and DDR games.

The original legend of zelda, I must have been 8 at the time, I would play for hours on end....ignoring Mario Bros.....and then while I was laying in bed trying to go to sleep, i would get nervous that my game didnt save.....I would run over and start up the game to make sure my progress was saved.....turn the system off and worry if that save worked. I never did beat that game....but its been years since I tried

Oh and I logged 97 hours on FF7, I fired that one up months ago and put a serious hurting on Seph, I just summoned everything in my arsenal and kicked his ass! I have the save point right at the entrance to the final battle

For me it would be Geometry Wars on XBLA. Almost every time I turn on my Xbox 360 I end up playing it at least once.

That game is alot of fun but I can never seem to get past 100,000 my eyes aren't built to see so many things happening at one time.

Currently, resident evil 4.  I've played like 30 hours over the last week.

I think I got in like 120-130 on FF7. I did pretty much everything, other than beat Ruby Weapon. Maybe I should fire that up and give it another whirl.

For a few years I was stuck in Diablo 2: LoD and must have easily sunk a few thousand hours into it. Yes, thousands. I'd make hardcore characters up into the 90's on ladder, then it'd reset and start over again. Building odd combinations of characters was real fun. Stoked about Diablo 3.

Same with Starcraft, with over 2000 games played on my Battle.Net profile alone. It was my crack in middle and high school. In electronics class my senior year I'd do 7 class mates versus me and win. They always played as if brute force is always the best strategy in RTS. Where's Starcraft II?!

For years I've been off and on with Total Annihilation since it's playable on most every version of Windows. It's a fun LAN party choice too since nearly everyone's computer can run it on maximum settings. Supreme Commander is amazing but it is a powerhouse game. In a few years I see it a major game of choice at LANs.

The whole SimCity series is amazing. Due to lack of time it's hard to dedicate so much for building a city and remembering why I designed a city plan the way it is several weeks ago. SimCity 4: Rush Hour does take the cake and rivals my favorite original for the SNES. The PC version nice but the bonus features on the SNES makes it solid.

There are a lot of others but those jump out the quickest. It's been awhile since I really gamed with all of the records surrounding me now and the rates they come in from the wild. On top of that, anime has been prime locally so lots of cool series have been getting newer DVD releases. Games on the other hand have been hiding from me.

Yeah, I remember putting a lot of hours into Sim City 2000 on the Saturn. Until I ended up just leaving it on while I slept, that really boosted me ahead. I never did find the Sonic statue that appeared in a screen shot on the back however. Also played a lot of Theme Park back then too. Going back a little earlier I wanted a Amiga CD32 especially for Theme Park alone as it looked so much better than the Mega Drive version.

Also, I have played a LOT of SMB on the nes. Probably a total of about 25-30 hours. Mmmm... Being addicted never tasted so good.
