Just received an email from a scammer who got my name off the rf board.  Another africa scam.  Thought I'd share with the community.  Email came as: Amanie Doudou RFgeneration Forum Member

I reported it to spamcop. The dumb ass sent it to me as well.

I just got one of those African money scams in my email address by someone who claims to have found me on RFG. Has that been happening to anyone else? It was a really strange thing.

I think everyone got it. I reported the bastard to spamcop, so hopefully this doesn't happen again. The new version of the forum, whenever it comes out, will make effort to ensure that emails are encoded in a way that does not allow harvesters to get it. There's no way he / she obtained the emails manually.

I thought the old African business/bank scam was long since dead. Are there still people that gullible out there?

You guys are silly, I sent in my $10,000 and within 6 weeks I recieved 4.7 Million dollars in return.......you guys are missing out!

My staff email addy when we were on the old server, I got dozens of these every week, I could've bumped Bill Gates down yet another notch. :slick:

On the old server, I kept getting pay pal spam mail telling me the pay pal account tied to my RFG email was marked for deleation.  After staring at it for about 5 or so minutes, I burst out laughing.  What pay pal account?  Why on earth would I tie my staff email with a pay pal account?  Specialy one I didnt even know I had!

Um... You're not supposed to be able to see other people's IP's on this site. It just says "Report to Moderator". It shows your IP to only you, and the moderators. And I highly doubt you're a mod already.  ::).


Quoting from the box that pops up when you press your IP:

You cannot see other members' IP addresses, and they cannot see yours."

Is it normal that, when you tick the box for hiding your email; when you (yourself) view your own profile, you're still able to see it?

Yes it is, so no need to worry :)

Ah ok, thanks, I thought so, but wanted to know for sure my email was hidden :)
