Title: Tremor Post by: Hydrobond on April 18, 2008, 05:32:52 AM Did anyone feel the earthquake last night?
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Quakes/nmhwb0418a.html I felt it in Dayton, it was enough to wake me up and feel a definite shaking. I had not clue what it was, and it stopped about four or five seconds after I became awake enough to realize it was happening. I thought I was going crazy, but it turns out it was actually an earthquake. Being on the fourth floor of an apartment building might have made it more noticable, I don't know though. So anyways, I've been up since 5:45 this morning... (This will probably be a very rambling post.) We could be in for some interesting times just around the corner folks, read the history of this fault line here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Madrid_Seismic_Zone (Specifically about 1811-1812, four earthquakes over 7.0 in magnitude in two months.) Title: Re: Tremor Post by: NES_Rules on April 18, 2008, 07:25:40 AM I didn't feel anything.
And if that New Madrid fault does have a significant eruption again, we're all doomed... Title: Re: Tremor Post by: Ghost Soldier on April 18, 2008, 09:45:05 AM It woke me this morning and startled my wife. I thought either the foundation was failing (live next to a lake) or it was an earthquake. We just had a nice little after shock 20 mins ago.
Title: Re: Tremor Post by: TraderJake on April 18, 2008, 10:13:48 AM I slept through it, but it was more than a tremor. 5.3 on the Richter Scale is sort of large for this region.
Title: Re: Tremor Post by: St0rmTK421 on April 18, 2008, 01:09:25 PM Meh, I must have slept through it too. Looks like it was centered in Illinois. It probably was reduced to few light rumbles by the time it got to cincy.
Title: Re: Tremor Post by: The Metamorphosing Leon on April 18, 2008, 01:51:40 PM I slept through it, although I had just gone to bed.
Title: Re: Tremor Post by: Izret101 on April 20, 2008, 09:42:40 PM The New Madrid fault has become all the rage recently.
You would swear it was like people had just discovered it. Title: Re: Tremor Post by: TraderJake on April 20, 2008, 09:44:54 PM I don't hear much about New Madrid, personally. Might be because it will be terrible times when New Madrid Ruptures.
