Title: I need some help
Post by: NESman93 on March 12, 2008, 08:11:39 PM
I love having my NES and my SNES, but my room is really tight on space. Im considering on getting a clone system. Should I get one like the Retro Duo or the Messiah Generation NEX?

I like the FC Twin and it seems to be a pretty good system.  Also it's neat that it looks like a snes mini.  There are several up on ebay all the time.  Here is a wiki article on the system. If you got the cash you might as go with the retro duo since it's an updated fc.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FC_Twin_Video_Game_System

I also second the FC Twin, here's a review for it:

The NEX is a nice system with a "cool" factor, but it commands a greater price and doesn't have the dual NES/SNES capability that makes the Twin a great space saver and double duty machine.

The Retro Duo appears to have solved many of the compatibility problems of the Twin and it's predecessors, but usually at twice the price of a Twin, but also $10-20 less than a NEX.

So here's the breakdown:
FC Twin (http://www.rfgeneration.com/blogs/Tan/Review-of-the-FC-Twin-Not-as-evil-as-purists-claim-354.php) -  cheaper than the others, can buy it just about anywhere
Retro Duo (http://kotaku.com/343432/hands+on-with-the-retro-duo-the-nessnes-hybrid) - a bit more expensive, slightly better compatibility, S-video
Generation NEX (http://www.playmessiah.com/products/classics/generation-nex-videogame-console.htm) - well designed, wireless controllers available, most expensive

Just stack the mo-fos. NES on bottom, SNES on top. PERFECT.

Unless your NES is a top loader, then you're screwed.

I'd stack them too :) Front loading NES on bottom, SNES mini on top. It would work perfectly!
