Title: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: logical123 on January 03, 2008, 01:57:34 PM So, this is my question to you: How hard is it to get every 32X game made.?I'm not going to be a cib snob, I wouldn't mind if it was CIB, but im not going to cry if there are no CIBs in my collection. Also, how much should this cost? I have Star wars Arcade, Virtual Racing, Motocross Championship (Need to replace, has a bad label), 36 Great Holes, and Cosmic Carnage. In all, so far I have spent $20 on the system, and $15 on the games. How much more money will I need to finish this (yes, including the Spiderman game)? Thanks!!
Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: Tynstar on January 03, 2008, 02:55:16 PM Loose it is easy. Spider Man will cost you 30-50 thats the only "big" one. I bet you could find all the games on ebay right now. Well minus Spider-Man and Blackthorne.
Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: den68 on January 03, 2008, 03:39:30 PM I have a CIB 32X and 2 loose ones and 22 of the games, about half of which are CIB. All have been found at thrifts, fleas or garage sales. I've spent about $70 bucks total so far.
I have not made a concentrated search for it either. It's just what I've found over the years just searching in general. I'd say you could complete it pretty easily if you put your mind to it. Fairly cheaply too except for Spider-Man. Most are on eBay right now too. No Spider-Man but there is an auction for Blackthorne. http://cgi.ebay.com/Sega-Genisis-32x-game-Blackthorne-near-new-in-box_W0QQitemZ110210555465QQihZ001QQcategoryZ62053QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: logical123 on January 03, 2008, 04:37:49 PM There is four copies of Spider-Man: Web of Fire on ebay right now
One is at $50, It is not CIB There are 2 copies Buy it now, non cib for: $75 and $90 There is an unopened copy for $525 buy it now or best offer Also, on estarland.com, they have a non cib copy for $80, and a CIB copy for $135 http://www.estarland.com/SegaGenesis.cat..product.24761.html This should be interesting. suppsoedly, only 1500 copies were made. It was also the last 32X release. Anyone on this site own it? Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: sharp on January 03, 2008, 05:18:31 PM USA is quite easy job, try to do Japanese (Romance of the Three Kingdoms, NFL Quarterback Club, NBA Jam and WWF Raw) or European (T-Mek, Darxide and Primal Rage)

Post by: Sauza12 on January 03, 2008, 07:24:21 PM I managed to get all of the 32x games, minus Spiderman for probablly under $200. That's including the Virtua Fighter Training Pack, and all of the games being CIB. Spiderman is the major sticking point in the 32x library. There are some others that can be a pain to find, but unless you get extremly lucky, you are going to pay a bit for that one.

Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: Ghost Soldier on January 04, 2008, 11:08:30 AM I'm still working on my 32x collection and the most I've spent on a single game is $5.00
Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: Grim Fandango on January 04, 2008, 03:53:26 PM I got about 20 of the 36 games, 18 are CIB. I got lucky and was able to get Blackthorne and T-Mek for ~$10 each.
Hopefully I get lucky with World Series Baseball and Pitfall as well so I only have to worry about Spiderman. Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: Tynstar on January 04, 2008, 04:38:38 PM Whats with Pitfall? Is it hard to get now?
Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: logical123 on January 04, 2008, 05:24:02 PM Very hard to get, by the looks of the prices. :P
Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: Tynstar on January 04, 2008, 05:49:15 PM What is it going for?
Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: BadEnoughDude on January 04, 2008, 06:07:43 PM Didn't see Pitfall ever becoming hard to find. I have come across that CIB a few times, from what I remember. I will have to make sure to pick it up next time.
Same with Blackthorne, actually. I have passed on tha,.t CIB at least once, and for a very reasonable price ( < $10). Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: Tynstar on January 04, 2008, 06:16:56 PM When I was looking Blackthorne, T-Mek and Knuckles where the most expensive ones outside of Spider-Man.

I actually got lucky with WSB. I got it from Goodwill or Value Village for only $2 or $3. It came with the box or manual. I can't remember Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: logical123 on January 04, 2008, 11:04:25 PM 3 bucks for WSB!! Are you fo serious??!?!? :speechless:
Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: Tynstar on January 05, 2008, 01:08:17 AM I got mine for 8 bucks loose and I forget for the CIB one. I know it was cheap though.
Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: Sauza12 on January 05, 2008, 04:24:54 PM Ah shit, I just remembered that I don't have World Series Baseball either :grrr:
God I don't want to spend $40 for that game. Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: Izret101 on January 05, 2008, 08:53:12 PM Kolibri was another one of the semi price ones too at least when i was kinda interested in going after 32x...
I end up researching more than actually completing collections... Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: gorez on January 06, 2008, 08:31:29 PM i got a spiderman loose. paid too much for it.

Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: m3talst0rm on January 10, 2008, 01:15:41 PM I know I don't post much on this site, but I just wanted to add that I got World Series Baseball CIB for $1.25 at a flea market. I really think that the majority of the 32x collection could be had for cheap...just as long as you have the patience to find deals.

Post by: cyberfluxor on January 11, 2008, 11:06:44 AM No Spider-Man but there is an auction for Blackthorne. Blackthrone is a great game, never played it on the 32X though. Certainly a game worth owning and playing. It's like having the early Prince of Persia games. But just look around and you'll find games over time and a lot cheaper than eBay or auction sites. Patience pays off in this hobby and if loose is alright with you then it's even easier. I actually found a loose copy of Spider-man the other month for $1 at a pawn shop, wasn't even expecting it but knowing of the title and rarity sure helped.http://cgi.ebay.com/Sega-Genisis-32x-game-Blackthorne-near-new-in-box_W0QQitemZ110210555465QQihZ001QQcategoryZ62053QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: Dev1anc3 on January 17, 2008, 09:55:21 PM The 32X wouldn't be too bad to collect for just carts only. The thing I've noticed about trying to collect CIB for the 32X, is that it's a pain in the ass. Nobody seemed to keep the boxes and manuals. Also the first batch of launch titles came in hard black cases with colored manuals for a very brief time, like the original Genesis carts, and they are almost impossible to come across. I've got Wrestlemania Arcade in the hard case, but that's the only one so far. I don't know how many other games came in hard cases before Sega started cheaping out, but it's pretty much a given that all of the launch titles came in hard cases in the begining.
Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: BadEnoughDude on January 17, 2008, 10:10:41 PM I know for sure that NBA Jam TE is available in the hard case, but not sure of any others.

My only complete set is the Magnavox Odyssey 2. I really need to get those last 2 for a complete 32x set. Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: Tynstar on January 31, 2008, 01:16:44 PM Oh damn I thought you had Spider Man.
NBA Jam NFL Quaterback Club WWF: Raw WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game Those are the games in the black plastic cases. Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: s1lence on January 31, 2008, 03:18:39 PM The only title I had alot of trouble getting my hands on was Pitfall CIB. I ended up dropping 80 bucks to get it too.

I wonder what happened to cause the spike in price... Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: Sauza12 on January 31, 2008, 05:00:30 PM Pitfall's price seems to fluctuate a ton. When I first started collecting 32x, it was regularly going for upwards of $35. For a while it wasn't on Ebay, and I picked up the next one that came along, which I think I got for around $25. After that prices dropped to like $10-15 for the game. I haven't seen the prices lately, but from what I'm hearing it looks like they are back up.
Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: s1lence on February 01, 2008, 08:50:21 AM I looked for over a year for that copy of Pitfall too. There was 3 others that went on ebay before I got my hands on one. The others all went for before 50-80 bucks, all CIB. There was 4 loose copies that all went for around 25 dollars.
It was the one title I didn't think I was going to have trouble finding, I was thinking Blackthorn or Spiderman was going to give me issues. Nope, it was Pitfall that was my bane to having a complete 32x collection. Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: Ghost Soldier on February 01, 2008, 09:38:00 AM Geez, I didn't know pitfall was going for a hefty price.
Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: s1lence on February 01, 2008, 09:43:24 AM I just looked on ebay and the only ones that are even out there are BIN. They are all 60 bucks or higher.
Title: Re: Collecting the Sega 32X: How hard is it, really? Post by: ganonbanned on February 03, 2008, 12:38:54 PM I only have a few 32x games, but I got knuckles chaotix CIB at goodwill for $1.99. I can't believe blackthorne is that $30, I almost payed like $3 for that game once...that games awesome, the SNES one is at least.
