Title: Idea for the Hardware database
Post by: NES_Rules on December 30, 2007, 02:47:42 PM
I've been adding some 3rd party hardware to the database lately and noticed something, many don't have part numbers, but they do have patent numbers.  Maybe patent numbers could be added along with part numbers and UPCs.

The problem with patent numbers is that they don't distinguish from variations. A patent number won't identify a blue controller from a grey one etc. and that's why all hardware items have to have part numbers and/or UPCs.

If you can't find any part numbers of any kind, just PM the hardware staff and tell them about a submission your going to make and tell them you'll be submitting a pic to go with it. That way they can review and approve it for you and have something to uniquely identify it afterwards.

Well, if that's the case then to whoever is approving right now, I will be adding pictures sometime within the next couple days.
