Title: Hot Coffee all over again
Post by: Mike Leon on November 04, 2007, 09:31:40 AM
Associated Press says hackers have unlocked the content Rockstar removed from Manhunt 2 to secure an M rating. Rockstar did it again.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,307703,00.html

This is just more fuel for censorship nazis like Lieberman and Tynstar.

It's getting bad. Frankly, I can't believe this post hasn't been deleted yet.

The ESRB cleared them of it this time.  The difference is that Rockstar presented the blocked material to the ESRB when they had it rated, and they rated the game with the knowledge that this content was not attainable through the regular course of play.

Hot Coffee is no doubt responsible for this otherwise pointless gesture.  Why rate something that isn't even in the game?  Thats like rating the physics rooms hidden in the code of other games.

Yeah, the reviews are saying Manhunt 2 is at least mediocre, if not altogether bad.

I'm shocked.

It kind of shows Rockstar's true nature. They got lucky with GTA, but they don't even understand the reason the game is so good. They really think people are just in it for the gore. Now they're flooding the market with this poorly designed shockfest crap.

I feel like it's 1993 all over again.

No one except immature kiddos who want it for the controversy to show how rebelious they are to their peers.

It's bullshit they wouldnt allow it in the first place.

I think I'm falling into the hype of this game a bit because I was seriously considering buying it a few weeks ago  :P

The thing that pisses me off about stuff like this is the fact that these censor types can't seem to get it through thier thick heads that you have to hack the game to access this stuff.  To them it's just "You put in the game and hit X 4 times and you can summon Satan and Tubgirl!!!!!  OMGWTFBBQSAUCE!!!!!"

Makes me wish someone would hack into thier computers and put child porn on thier hard drives.  Of course there is probably plenty on thier hard drives already, so....

I really think you're right. Rockstar used to be a good company, but now they just seem to be putting out stuff to cause controversy. I mean seriously, if Jack Thompson wasn't so against them, would they have included a parody of him in GTA4? I think not.

However, they are free to do that kind of thing. It's a free country and freedom of speech is (somewhat, though less and less these days) protected.

I totally forgot about Table Tennis.  :(

Sorry about that. But it is true that they seem to like stirring up controversy.

Is anyone surprised by this? I think they should have released two version in the first place. Let the people that want the AO version get that and the M version can be sold at the major retail stores.
