Title: Arcade machine auction
Post by: Sauza12 on October 25, 2007, 12:14:03 PM
So this Saturday the 27th, I'll be going to an arcade auction (at the Michigan State Fairgrounds for those of you on the area.  Preview starts at 8am and auction starts at 10am) and I was wondering if there was any intrest in the prices that the machines will go for.  I usually take note of what certain machines have gone for at previous auctions, but I am considering keeping track of what the final price is for each and every machine this time.

I just wanted to find out if anyone else here would like to know what the final prices of these games are.  Arcade games seem to be an area that unless you have been around for a while, no one seems to know what stuff costs.  There should probably be over 200 games for sale, so it will be a lott of info to take in, but I'm borderline OCD so it's OK  ;)

I'd love to know how much arcade machines are going for.  Keep us updated on prices.

Give us a report on what things go for. It's always interesting to find out that kind of stuff.

Bubble Bobble, Ring King and Time Killers I want those. So I would like to know the prices of those. I should ask my brother what he is doing on that day.

Alright then, it's settled I'm doing it.  When I'm going around during the preview session I'm going to take note of the condition of the machines too.  Should make me the niggest dork on Earth  ;D

As for the machines that you guys have mentioned, I haven't seen a Bubble Bobble or Time Killers yet, but I've seen Ring King a few times and they seem to go for $100-$200 depending on condition.  Mortal Kombat goes for a lot cheaper than I would have thought.  The first auction I went too, Mortal Kombat 1 went for $300 iirc, and my friend bought a modified Mortal Kombat 2 with a second board harness that had Mortal Kombat 3 in it, as well as the Immortal Kombat upgrade that makes getting to the secret characters easier as well as a few other bonuses.  He got that for $450 from a private collector.

Alright, I'm almost ready to post a list of everything that was sold with prices.  There were a bit over 125 games, not including pinball and other kinds of games.

But the good news is that I was able to grab my most wanted game at the auction, a four player version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles  ;D.  I paid far out the ass for it ($386.75 after taxes and fees), but hey, you only live once.

I'll post the list and pictures of my score this weekend.

Nicer prices than I expected. I think I'll be looking to add one of these to my collection soon and this is encouraging.

On the subject of arcade machines has anyone ever seen a "Nintendo Super System" before?

I haven't seen one of those Nintendo Super Systems at auction before, but God would I love to get one.  The last auction I went too had 3 of the Playchoice 10 cabs in your picture, but they were all in absolutley HORRID condition.

Those are some very nice prices. I would have liked to pick up Police Trainer.
