Post by: shaggy on September 30, 2007, 10:27:16 AM
Would you pay $170 for Rock Band?

Not a problem. I think the price is pretty good.

I'm not into rythm games, so no. It does seem fairly good value though.

I have never even heard of rock band before. $170 is also a bit steep for me to pay for anything gaming related.

Nope.

I chose yes because that is a good deal if it includes the game, guitar, and drums.  Of course I don't have the money to buy it or the room to put everything but if I did I would.  Also, I don't have friends so noone to play with. Unless Ty wants to be my friend.

well owrking out at roughly £60 that to me for all the kit is pretty cheep, but somehting tells me that if its relased here then it will be more like £100, and that means i wont be getting it

$170 = £85

Plus VAT, plus Rip-Off-Britain Tax I reckon it would be more like £120.

It is a deal from the sounds of it but out of my range... or so i say.

When GH came out i said the same thing but bought it anyways....

I'd have to think about it. It's a decent price for all you get, but the $170 is steep in and of itself.

My hope is that the new GH3 wireless controller for 360 will also be compatible with Rock Band just like the GH2 wired is. EA is also going to be releasing a wireless 360 guitar. Possibly gets into a later release bundle?

Maybe if I get some gift cards over Christmas...maybe.

Yeah I'm usually a generation behind when it comes to gaming. So I never pay attention to anything new.

Guitar Hero for the Wii is coming with a wireless guitar.  Wiiiiiiiiii!

and it's the biggest rip of all the versions.  10$ cheaper and it's just a shell for a wii-mote?  atleast with the others you get the whole controler, with the wii you have to already have the controler.  they should have atleast nocked something off the price for that.

I do agree with you there. It does seem kind of ripoffy.

Very much so. But I'd have to believe that the guitar "shell" would still act as a controller enhancement of sorts since you still need to activate the 5 buttons on the fret.

Maybe the Wii-mote acts as the battery and sensor for the guitar to work? It's quite possible that the nature of the Wii is such that to create a 3rd party controller for it would be cost-prohibitive; so they plugged in the Wii-mote into the shell "controller" as an assist to functionality as well as a method of keeping costs down.

Don't forget the advantage from a manufacturer's standpoint. The Wii remote can act as the tilt sensor for star power. Still a rip, but at least you can see why they'd do it.

Very well stated.

Anyways back to the drum game...

What exactly is it coming with???
Is it a few little drum pieces or a uber massive electronic drum set?
Steel Battalion-esque?

I think it's 4 or 5 drums pieces...

4 pc drum pad set with and activated pedal below to simulate the bass drum. It's fairly large.

Guitar Hero and Samba de Amigo are good enough for me when it comes to musical beat games. $170 is also a large investment to play a single game that really requires a group effort for best results. I'm not sure about others but most of my console gaming is done single player and my internet play is on PC with FPS and RTS. I'll sit this one out until it's a few bucks for a complete set (if that happens) many years down the road.
