The American Medical Association on Wednesday backed off calling excessive video-game playing a formal psychiatric addiction, saying instead that more research is needed

It's addicting as hell, I am addicted as hell.

As long as I enjoy this 'addiction' of mine, I couldn't care less :D

There are some people I know out there who read books as much as "addicted" gamers play games. I bet something like that would never be called an addiction. This world really is silly sometimes.

I couldn't agree more.

Thats because reading is associated with learning.

Gaming doesn't have that association yet.

Yeah. And the reader may be "addicted" to trashy romance novels but because they're reading, it's not viewed as an addiction...even though there's no learning to be had in them.  :P

The word "addicting" is the ultimate compliment when it comes to a game.

Agreed. I think any rewarding activity has an addictive component. Whether you become addicted or not is just dependant on your personal attraction to the reward.

I for instance, could never ever become an alcoholic in a million years. I don't like anything about getting drunk. It's just a bad experience for me.

But tell me I can have 280% increased movement speed if I farm 5000g and I'm there plugging away for 100+ hours. Most alcoholics would never see any motivating factor there.

Um.... I'm going to assume you're not talking about agricultural work. Especially considering farm work is back breaking labor involving many, many pounds of lifting, hauling, etc, not normally measured in grams. I believe I've seen a 20/20 report on what you're referring to.
Again, I guess I'm way out of the loop here.  :P

Well, be careful. Remember you can't play video games if you're pushing up daisies.

Wow??? I'm not sure what that infers. I suppose I shouldn't ever comment on personal subjects on account that , more than not, it just creates resentment. I was just trying to express concern and not to step on anyone's toes. I have no intention of alienating people. I'll say no more.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.
