He's talking about Dr. Jack Kevorkian (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070605/ap_on_re_us/kevorkian_new_mission_2) A.K.A. "Dr. Death"

I didn't know he was so close to getting out. Good for him. Sounds like he's taking the task on to be a spokesman for right to die patients.

Wanna bet this becomes an election issue?

Well I was like 11 when he got tossed in the can. I wasn't quite one for paying attention to the news back then.

I heard about him getting out a few days ago and was surprised.  Though I never knew how long his sentence was.

Did anyone else have to watch Channel 1 in High School?  It ws a daily newscast broadcast to a t.v. in each classroom on, oddly enough, Channel 1.   Kevorkian was all over Channel 1 when I was in High School.  Anderson Cooper from CNN was actually an anchor an Channel 1.

I think it was a good thing he was doing. Glad to see him fighting the legal way now. No on the Channel 1 for me.

I totally agree.

Especially with the state some of my grandparents are in.

I think i would have been 10 back then.  My parents wouldn't have wanted me to be interested in that stuff so I wouldn't have been exposed to it... if they hadn't made a hilarious skit on the Bob and Tom (radio) show.  I can still remember it involved a song parody of winter wonderland.

Every time I hear his name I think of the lines from the Monty Python movie.....

"Bring out your dead, bring out your dead!"
"But i'm not dead yet!"

Yeah, not funny.  I'm surprised they let em out at all.

I don't think he should of ever been in jail.

Eh he finally slipped up.
If memory serves it was because he "flipped the switch" on one of his patients and filmed it. Or maybe it was just becauase he filmed it? I can't remember.
I think it was a CO2 machine that got him thrown in jail though.

There were alot of people not thrilled with his work so it's not surprising he was jailed but i am surprised he wasn't released sooner.

He is rediculously old now himself.

I support things like genocide and saturation bombing as solutions to many real world political issues. So even though I don't really care much about this guy, I'd be sort of a hypocrite if I sided against him.

I won't get into the discussion if his actions were good or bad - that a completely personal opinion.  However, I will say I wasn't fond of the fact that he left one of his 'patients' in one of my hotel rooms while I was a GM working in Detroit.  Needless to say, it really didn't do a whole lot for associate morale when everyday it is like 'what is behind door #3' when opening any of my hotel suite doors.
