Title: Concerning Scans
Post by: BadKarm on May 24, 2007, 11:44:20 AM
I've been scanning in a bunch of image the last couple days, but I was wondering if I came across an image of a cart, so to say, that was a little more beat up than the one I have... should I scan an image of mine?

I wouldn't want to discredit anyone's submission, but we are trying to get the best images we can get into the database right? let me know.

In my opinion you should definitely upload replacement scans if they are better than the current ones, the person who submitted the previous scan(s) won't lose any credit and they're name will still be listed.

If you have a better looking version of a game, by all means scan away!  I'm fairly sure no one looses credit for providing scans reguardless of a newer version eventualy being provided.  I could be mistaken, but I'm not aware of anything like that happening.

Cool, thanks.

[Edit] Recieved error:File not uploaded correctly, please try again
Warning: unlink(): No such file or directory in /hsphere/local/home/rfgene2/rfgeneration.com/PHP/sources/submitimagefunctions.php on line 785

when trying to submit images... first time this has happened, but for some reason it just won't work on this image.

It could be several things, such as a maximum file size error (Images really should not be larger than 500KB anyways) or improper file type. (We check by MIME). If you keep having this issue for the file try uploading the image to this thread.

I went and submitted some different things in the meantime, and when I went back to try again it worked.

Thanks.

What the other peeps said. Please add the better image. No one will loose any credit. In addition to better scans a lot of pics are 450 on the short side so those could be replaced as well.

Thanks for all the submissions. As far as that error goes it happens from time to time and I am not sure why. Maybe Dave or Eddie can explain why. All I do is hit back and then submit again and it works.

Pretty much if that error comes up it means that the file upload got interrupted, likely on the server end. Moral of the story, we're on a shared host, those things happen, if it does happen try again later.

The error is most likely to happen if you are uploading a large filesize image.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks much.
