Title: Time to submit... rating entries? Post by: Ando on April 27, 2007, 02:59:32 PM Yo. I figured that since the entire world doesn't use the ESRB as their game ratings system, it might be good to add in other countries' ratings systems? I can't send in Japanese game ratings if there's no CERO listings. :O

Title: Re: Time to submit... rating entries? Post by: TraderJake on April 27, 2007, 04:29:01 PM Yes, yes we can. If you need a Rating System Added let us know, preferably with the ratings associated with the system.
Title: Re: Time to submit... rating entries? Post by: Funk_Buddy on April 27, 2007, 04:31:50 PM The challenge will be Japan has changed them so there'll be a bunch.
Here's from a wiki entry: Quote On March 1st, 2006, CERO made a new, revised version of the ratings system. The symbols the CERO uses are stylized depictions of letters, meant to convey at a glance a game's suitability: A (All ages) (Equivalent to the ESRB's EARLY CHILDHOOD, EVERYONE, and EVERYONE 10+ and PEGI's 3+ and 7+) B (Ages 12 and up) (Equivalent to the ESRB's TEEN and PEGI's 12+) C (Ages 15 and up) (Equivalent to the PEGI's 16+) D (Ages 17 and up) (Equivalent to the ESRB's MATURE) Z (Ages 18 and up only) (Equivalent to the ESRB's ADULTS ONLY and PEGI's 18+) All would be CERO A, CERO B etc. Black band for A Green band for B Blue band for C Orange or yellowish color band for D Red band for Z No color on the label itself. That's just black and white. Old style: CERO Free CERO 12 CERO 15 CERO 18 JPN Saturn has the following colors also: CERO green label CERO light blue CERO yellow CERO yellow w/18 CERO red 18 I'll mod this as more info is found. I fired up the 56k and hunted down the last of the rating systems that we will need on Wiki(which wasn't hard at all.) ESRB - 1994 - today http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entertainment_Software_Rating_Board VRC - 1993 - 1994 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Videogame_Rating_Council Covered Sega Genesis, CD, Game Gear. US only? Were Can, Mex, etc covered aswell? PEGI - 2003 - today http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan_European_Game_Information Covers either 25 or 29 countries Euro countries. Wiki has both numbers and a list of countries. It is more likely that the list of 29 is accurate. CERO - 2002 - today http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_Entertainment_Ratings_Organization Covers Japan RSAC - 1994 - 1995(?...) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recreational_Software_Advisory_Council Rated PC games only phased out by ESRB 3DO Rating System ? - 1994 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3DO_Rating_System Rated games for the 3DO in US and Can. VET/SFB ?-? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valtion_elokuvatarkastamo Any of our Finnish buddies help us out with this one? It is used in conjunction with PEGI apparently. USK 2003 - today http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USK German Rating system. It is unclear if before 2003 it may have been used on all games. Apparently PEGI is a secondary system in Germany? BBFC - ?-? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Board_of_Film_Classification Another British rating system ELSPA - 1989 - 2002 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entertainment_and_Leisure_Software_Publishers_Association Replaced by PEGI in Britian. Was used for games that were exempt from rating by BBFC OFLC (NZ) - 1993 - Today(?) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Office_of_Film_and_Literature_Classification_%28New_Zealand%29 Rates certain games in New Zealand OFLC (Aussie)- ? - Today http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Office_of_Film_and_Literature_Classification_%28Australia%29 Australian rating system. Has a pre and post 2005 rating system. IFCO - ?- today http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_Film_Censor%27s_Office#Video_games Irish rating system rarely used. Though it is in conjunction with PEGI apparently. Europe is such a PITA... Title: Re: Time to submit... rating entries?
