Title: How about the 2600 INTV games?
Post by: nester on December 26, 2006, 01:03:00 PM
What do you guys things of the M-Network games that go re-released in the late 80s under the INTV name? Should these be counted as seperate games? We count the Sears games seperately from the Atari games. If this is the case than we should probably add them to the database.

im not sure if M Network games were released by INTV.  There are white label games however, i suppose this warrants further investigation to see if there are variations in the packaging or instructions

Let me know what you find. If they are indeed INTV releases then yes. But if they are just a different label then no I don't think they should be added as a new entry. A scan of a different label in teh extra media section would be nice.

Hmm, I'm getting conflicting reports. Technically INTV was a different company than Mattel. However, the only major difference is that the games were re-released in black and white. I mean, Sears games are counted seperately from Atari games, but most of those have different names and artwork. I'm not sure what to call them.

Some Sears games are only Sears games not a remake/reissue.

Yeah, there's those three that Atari made but only Sears released. I don't think there are any others.

along those lines, even if INTV did publish the white label m network games, i almost 100 percent sure they did not produce any new titles.  since they did produce new intellivision games, they get variation nod for their releases on that system

Well then I guess the same would have to go for Froggo as well. None of their titles were original either.

Froggos where all different packages where they not? INTV just went from a Black and blue label to a white and black label. I would have no problem adding the INTV games is thats what we deiced would be best.

I just don't want the 13-16 different label variates of Comabet all added as seperate entries into the database.

It appears we already have one INTV game in the db.  There are three Utopia listings, one Mattel, one Sears, and one INTV.  I have the INTV version of Utopia and the packaging looks very simular to the Mattel boxes.  Other then the fact that the Mattel name is missing it appears to be a half inch or so shorter and the bottom of the box has the name of the game on it (just like on the top) rather then the Mattel copyright info I see on the other boxes.  It also states the following on the back:

Distributed by Intellivision Inc.
..address...
@Intellivision Inc. 1981 All rights reserved.

(that @ is a copyright symbol!!)

Not sure if this helps

utopia is an intellivision game, not a 2600 game

Can I claim temporary insanity?  Some how I missed the 2600 in the subject of this thread.  Utopia is indeed an Intellivision game, I thought that's what we were talking about.

Now I am at 667 so I am one better than the devil!!

True but the Intelli and the 2600 have the same problem with INYV games.

no, INTV made original games for the intellivision on top of their reprints.  INTV did not release any original 2600 titles, and to my knowledge, they didnt even change their boxes or manuals for 2600 reissues.  only the cheap labels black and white labels were used

Yeha I know they made originals. But still damn all the variants!
