Title: Favorite Anime Post by: NESJunkie on June 09, 2004, 07:07:56 PM Hi guys, I just started getting into anime myself and have watched a few movies but my favs so far are Cowboy Bebop and Escaflowne being my fav. Any other suggestions on what to watch?
Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: Lord Nepenthean on June 09, 2004, 09:40:45 PM Akira
Not everyone likes it, but it's one of those movies that you just have to see if you're going to watch anything in the genre. Personally, I thought it was really good. Princess Mononoke is pretty good as well. I haven't seen Vampire Hunter, but Vampire Hunter D was mediocre. The beginning made it look like it was going to rock my pants off, but then it went downhill fron there. Oh, and you gotta see Ninja Scroll. Kinda messed up, but then again, what anime isn't? I'm by no means an expert on anime... these are about the extent of what I've seen. My two cents. Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: Sauza12 on June 10, 2004, 08:12:15 AM I really like Akira. It's just so f'ed up that I can't help but like it.
Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust is really cool. It blows the first one out of the water. I also liked the Fist of the Northstar movie. Very gory. Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: Zimbacca on June 10, 2004, 10:52:34 PM Cowboy bebop

Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: 2D-Forever on June 12, 2004, 02:06:41 PM Depends on whether you want the serious thought provoking goodness; or the whacky comedy.
Seriously awesome: X tv series Voices of a Distant Star Magical Violinist Hameln Record of Lodoss Wars Comedy exellent: Slayers (season 1 or motion picture) Furi kuri (FLCL) Excel Saga Great Teacher Onizuka Ruin Explorers Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: NESJunkie on June 12, 2004, 08:48:34 PM im more into the serious side of it. Thanks 2d for the suggests
Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: Zimbacca on June 13, 2004, 12:00:12 AM Trigun's more of a wacky type of one, but it also has some (few) serious parts.
Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: NESJunkie on June 13, 2004, 10:05:50 AM Isn't trigun on weeknights on cartoon network?
Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: den68 on June 13, 2004, 06:35:31 PM I remember seeing Akira way back when I was in college, f'd up is right. I've been trying to watch a bit of anime here and there to understand the fascination with it. It does look cool though.
Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: 2D-Forever on June 13, 2004, 06:56:25 PM Jin Roh and Ghost in the shell are great serious animes, unfortunatly the Director is Mamoru Oshii, which means you might have to watch it 2or3 times to figure out what the hell the theme is.
Awesome films anyway. Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: Sauza12 on June 16, 2004, 11:02:15 AM I forgot about X. That is a damn good watch.
Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: Mike Leon on July 19, 2004, 10:06:20 PM I can't believe no one has said this yet. The second best anime ever, by far, is......

Bastard! 3x3 Eyes Irrisponsible Captain Tylor Another three of the good stuff. Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: Izret101 on July 25, 2004, 09:51:06 PM www.boxtorrents.com this site has tons of anime i heard about it from a friend awhile ago and it got back online recently after some down time for maintanence and upgrades.

Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: Zimbacca on July 25, 2004, 09:55:00 PM Quote I can't believe no one has said this yet. The second best anime ever, by far, is...... god ninja scroll is fucking messed up. Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: Mike Leon on July 25, 2004, 10:07:56 PM And Akira isn't?
Actually, neither of them is that bad. If you want really messed up anime, get Wicked City or Urotsukidoji. La Blue Girl is also a happy and joyous piece of film. Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: Zimbacca on July 25, 2004, 10:15:57 PM Oh yeah, Akira is too. They both are still pretty freaking cool.
Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: den68 on July 26, 2004, 11:18:23 AM the Best Buy sale paper had two anime's for like $15.99 in this weeks sale.
Ghost in the Shell and Neon Genesis Evangel... something are these worth picking up? Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: Zimbacca on July 26, 2004, 06:48:36 PM I haven't seen either, but Ghost in the Shell looks awesome.
Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: deadducks on July 26, 2004, 08:09:27 PM Hell yes, Goast in the shell is awsome!
Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: 2D-Forever on July 28, 2004, 11:10:46 AM Ghost in the Shell sports quite a bit of nudity, and one of the greatest analysis of the human condition in the computer age ever. If you can get over the boobies to see the underlying premise and symbolisms, it is a great film.
Evongalion is supposed to be good, but I don't like it because of the whining pussy hero and the shit-for-brains ending of the series. Title: Re: Favorite Anime Post by: Izret101 on July 28, 2004, 12:00:19 PM I watched the whole FLCL series yesterday it was kinda dissapointing i was looking foreward to more episodes and there was only 6.
