I found out about it when I was searching for Britny Fox, a hair band taht I hadn't heard anything about in a while. They are one of the bands on that disc

I thought it was a European release, but I guess it may have been released worldwide. I think it's funny that it's a Nintendo CD, since the songs and comic don't exactly have much in line with Nintendo.
