Title: Hold up, a gold SMB / DH? Post by: Ando on November 01, 2006, 09:22:15 AM I was talking with a few friends the other day, and one of them made a passing remark about how they used to have a gold Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt cartridge. I stopped him, asking him to repeat it, and sure enough, he said "gold". I turned to the other friend who nodded as if he knew exactly what the other guy was talking about. I, however, have never heard of a gold SMB / DH cart. Does such a thing really exist?

Title: Re: Hold up, a gold SMB / DH? Post by: Speedy_NES on November 01, 2006, 02:50:44 PM I've never heard of one, and I've checked almost all the online resources for NES info, so I highly doubt one exists. I suppose it would be possible to replace the contents and labels of a Zelda gold cartridge with that of Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt, but I wonder who would want to do that as the label wouldn't exactly blend in nicely with the gold cartridge.

He was probably just mistaken. I've found that happens alot with older video games. People will distinctly remember something about a game that is completely wrong. Title: Re: Hold up, a gold SMB / DH? Post by: shaggy on November 02, 2006, 12:24:09 PM I call Bullshit!
Title: Re: Hold up, a gold SMB / DH? Post by: The Metamorphosing Leon on November 02, 2006, 01:25:56 PM I had one once, but then somebody stuck a Zelda sticker on it ;) .
Title: Re: Hold up, a gold SMB / DH? Post by: Rejinx on November 03, 2006, 02:00:18 AM I doubt that it is true, but if you can confirm that it is real, I would say "That's cool, can I buy it from you?" and if his price is under $100 BUY THAT SH!T.

I can't seem to find much information on it anywhere. Title: Re: Hold up, a gold SMB / DH? Post by: Tynstar on November 15, 2006, 01:41:57 PM Switched guts.

Title: Re: Hold up, a gold SMB / DH? Post by: Tondog on November 24, 2006, 11:40:16 PM It's probably like the gold NES and gold Dreamcast at the pawn shop downtown. Gold from being in a smoky environment.
Title: Re: Hold up, a gold SMB / DH? Post by: atari_wizard on November 25, 2006, 05:17:22 PM Sorry, it doesn't exist. Until I see one, I stay with my statement. Ask you friend where and how he got it. If it was a pack in, then BS.
