I guess you better snag a few more controllers when you but that one.

I can only hope it has 4P-split screen. So far, I'm hearing that it will play 2P-Split screen + system link. Not much longer to wait though.

BRUTAL Sniper rifle! I think it shows it best early on in multiplayer video 2.

I know...too well.

Now, with Gears of War, taking out someone with the head shot not only kills them, it takes OFF their head!

Sniping is the best.

I got a feeling I'm going to really like the Chainsaw Rifle for melee combat.

They didn't have it when I went at lunch today, dammit! They told me it will be here tomorrow for sure.

Got a 9.6 on www.gamespot.com.

We got probably 100 calls yesterday asking if Gears had come in yesterday.

Not to mention all the walkins :-/

If i wasn't in class i would be going into the store at 10 today when FedEx arrives so i could play a copy instore.

I really hope someone in my family is ultra nice and buys me a 360. ;D
Or makes 2 of my car payments :)

100 calls!  :o

I doubt that you'd be able to play a copy in-store, though. I can't imagine that the soccer moms with little johnny would be too pleased to see a game being played where you're blasting heads off and chainsawing your opponent. Probably not a 1st choice for a family game. ;)

I got my copy! Can't wait to get home and try it out!

@den, surprisingly, the multiplayer still looks pretty cool even though it's missing some things we're accustomed to (no 4PSS, no vehicles, no deathmatch); it's got 1 vs 1 SS on one TV, and 2 vs 2 on system link.

Mulitiplayer is team-based. But if you get hit, you're not out of it unless your opponent comes over and "finishes" you with a head stomp or execution-style shot to the head/chainsaw attack. This is because your teammate(s) can come over to revive you prior to your opponent getting there; then you're back in the game. Imo, this would add a layer of strategy. When we've played 2 vs 2 on Halo 2 in the past, the matches would be lopsided more often than not, but having something like this healing element in GoW to balance matchups out could work very well. We'll have to give it a try to see how it plays out.

Seems like it could get annoying laying about waiting for your team mates to revive you. Unless it's death matches? Is it respawn or matches?

From what I know, in one of the modes you can revive yourself by repeatedly pressing the A button. In a different mode, you have to get a teammate to assist. I think it's just death matches (not to be confused with "deathmatch"), and I don't know about respawning; so far I haven't heard anything about respawning. I'll check into it.

Has anyone else picked this one up?

After completing Act 1 last night, I'll say that if I didn't have to go to work today, I'd probably still be playing.  Campaign is very user-friendly and the flow of the game is excellent.

And...NO in-game loading screens. The only loading screens that come up are from the main menu and after you die.

I highly recommend picking one up.

...I would have to wait until next Friday, when it's released here. :(

I hear that Federal Express has a few extra copies floating around in Memphis. ;)

An employee and a regular were playing at work and they almost completed the game on hard.

Hardcore is the "average" difficulty level. Then there's Insane which is unlocked after completing the campaign 1x. Were they playing Co-Op? What was their take on the game?

They were playing co-op which i assume also makes the game 100x easier since your partner can revive you.

Yeah, come to think of it that would help out a lot. Playing the campaign solo, none of your squad mates would come to your rescue, only you can revive them.

I have bought a few games and few game related items. Does that count?

Not quite, that's collecting, but with this evidence we can let you get off with just a fine.

No problem, Tyn. When you finally get Gears, I hope you'll at least try it out.

It's tough to make the time to game sometimes. I hear ya there. But it makes the time doing so that much more fun with the right games.

After finishing act 2, I'm more and more impressed by this game! They keep the variety level high, and the AI is excellent!

One thing about the game that keeps it interesting is the ability to collect COG tags as a part of getting achievements. I missed a bunch in act 1, but kept a closer eye out for them in act 2. Some are a little tricky to get, but it's just one more aspect of the game that keeps it fresh, imo.

I still want this game.

I don't, because I would have to get a 360, and that would just be unwise.

Hey Leon, where'd you get the photo? Hot.

I think The Maligned Sony-Fanboy Leon would work well as your new name.

Well I think the 360 would be a serious waste, It's so outdated already why bother? PS3 kills it in the graphics department and Wii kills it in the fun department. It doesn't have any new gimmicky and it's going to sink into oblivion and M$ will probably have to release a new system years before anyone else.

The babe's incredible ass part I agree with. And I'm still curious as to where you found that smokin' hot photo.

As far as you "speaking the truth", I do NOT agree. The graphics for both systems are about equal. And you know as well as I do that the 360 will have just as many quality console exclusives as PS3/Wii will have.

Just my $.02.

Actually check the graphics on games ported to PS3 from 360.
They have lower frame rates and choppier graphics ;)

Side note:
Have any of the PS3 demo units in stores around you guys burst into flames yet?
The one at Walmart here did :-D

I'm almost done with campaign. I'm at the final boss and he's a pain in the ass!

After I've finished him off and play a few rounds of multiplayer, I'll be submitting a review. 8)

Finally finished off RAAM (the last boss) and the campaign. Unlocked 10 achievements along the way.
