Title: Possible new edutainment console? Post by: bum-man on September 08, 2006, 01:59:20 PM I picked up one of these the other day with a couple of cartridges to go with it:
It's a Kasey the Kinderbot sold by Fisher Price and it turns out it is the next in the line of 2-XL robot toys that we have discussed here before (I think Den has an 8-Track model and several tapes). Details on the lineup can be found here http://www.2xlrobot.com/types/index.html Seems to me it would be worthwhile added a "2-XL/Kasey" console to the database and list all of the 8-Track, Cassette, and Cartridge games for the three models. I've seen Kasey the Kinderbot. A friend of mine got it for his son. If I remember it has an LCD display on his chest.
I wouldn't say I'm opposed to adding them to the database but while Kasey does have a video display the Mego and Tiger 2-XL's are both audio only. It is interesting how each incarnation was targeted at a younger and younger audience. The origianl 8-Track 2-XL had a lot of sports, history, current events and movie trivia games that would appeal to adults. The Tiger 2-XL was mostly stuff from cartoons. Batman, Justice League and the like. 12-13 was maybe the max age. Kasey from what I remember KAsey was a preschool toy. |
