Earlier today i heard my neighbor(a cop) say that being a firefighter isnt a real job. Now this pissed me right the fuck off. My stepdad is a firefighter and i know the shit they have to deal with. On one occasion he had to save a cop after pulling 3 brothers all between ages 6 and 13 from a frozen pond. Only one kid made it. Firefighters get stuck doing 1/3 the shit they arent supposed to. (at least here because there are no paramedics firefighters are on scene till they come in from another city) I know a bunch of police, firefighters and paramedics and out of all of them i know in Sringfield, MA firefighters have just as hard a job both mentally and more so physically.

He should start fires to make it seem more like a real job.

I just thought i would get that out there i know it pissed me off alot and i thought it might piss someone else off too. Anyways to make up for my neighbor saying that i'll just extremely underprice his nintendo stuff when i buy it. He said he was going to look it up to see what its worth but he's to damn lazy.

I consider a "real job" anything you get paid to do on a regular basis, or some skill.

Iz has a bit of a point though. My dad is a retired firefighter for the city of Pittsburgh, he worked for app 38 years. Firefighters are a pretty tight knit group and I believe part of the reason (at least around here) is because of the way police and med-dicks treat em. The cops seem to think they're better than everyone and their dicks are bigger cause they have a badge and a gun, the med-dicks think they're better too. The funny part is, medics for the most part just play taxi to people the firefighters already stabilized while waiting for the damn medics to arrive (the one time I needed them they actually got lost, firefighters were there within minutes). Police are famous for sitting on their asses and doing a whole lotta nothing. Yet for some reason there's an unspoken competitiveness between them. Hell, the beat cops would come into the firehouse and eat all their food, watch tv instead of doing their fucking job. I can't stand lardass mofos with a badge that think they're better or their job is more important. Especially when their job is seemingly to sit around and eat more food.

On that note...lol There have actually been police here that attempted to get disability pensions because "the job made them fat". Seriously! Cops that sat on their asses eating actually tried to retire early claiming that if it weren't for their "work" with the police force, they never would have ate so much. Ain't that some shit?

The firefighters got there the quickest because they have to know every road in the city.
Firefighters are all really close here too. My stepdad retired about 2 months ago. Longest on the department. He too had been on for 38 years. We had a pigroast for his retirement party and there were about 50 firefighters here.

Two years ago there was a boxing tourney held between the firefighters and the co0s. The cops sent up there biggest strongest most intimidating looking guy, the firefighters had a guy about half his size go up because he said he could take the cop. With in 2 rounds the cop said he was to hurt to keep fighting and he threw in the towel.
