Title: Anyone have a radio controlled vehicle? Post by: UNFORGIVINGPAIN on August 16, 2006, 11:10:38 AM My other hobby is my RC truck It has been almost a year since the last time I drove it, it's a Savage 25 (http://www.hpiracing.com/kits/kitMain.php?partNo=832). But this past Sunday I raced it all day here (http://www.brownshobbyshop.com/1259.JPG). I didn't place in any of the races but I had a lot of fun. It was the first time I have ever raced it. Here are a few pics....

I have spent over $1,000 with this truck. In the first month I hit a telephone pole at full speed and had to spend almost $200 to get it running again. But they are a lot of fun too.Nice looking truck. Thanks!Title: Re: Anyone have a radio controlled vehicle? Title: Re: Anyone have a radio controlled vehicle? Post by: Speedy_NES on August 16, 2006, 05:37:42 PM How fast can they go?
Title: Re: Anyone have a radio controlled vehicle? Post by: SFS on August 16, 2006, 07:34:36 PM I have a robot. Does that count? ?:/
Title: Re: Anyone have a radio controlled vehicle? Post by: UNFORGIVINGPAIN on August 16, 2006, 08:27:55 PM How fast can they go? I've read many times that a stock Savage 25 can go 38 mph which I believe is around 60km. A stock Savage 25 is what I have. You can buy bigger engines and transmissions to make it go much fast, but I happy with the speed it gets now. I have even seen a "Nitrous Express R/C Nitrous System (http://www.nitrousexpress.com/Images/Installs/Savage/rc_nitrous_install.htm)" The track I raced on has a lot of turns so you can't go max speed very often.Title: Re: Anyone have a radio controlled vehicle? Post by: Tan on August 16, 2006, 09:13:26 PM i remember wanting a Nikko Turbo Panther when i was a kid, my folks were poor so i only got the consolation prize, a build it yourself turbo panther kit :P even so i still had alot of fun with it.
Title: Re: Anyone have a radio controlled vehicle? Post by: UNFORGIVINGPAIN on August 16, 2006, 11:17:53 PM Turbo Panther, now that's old school. My first rc car was a tyco Hi-Jacker. It had a button on the top of the controller that when pressed the top of the car raised up about two inches. This picture was taken in my room in 1994. Also notice the Kevin Johnson (#7 on the Phoenix Suns) shoes in the upper right corner of the picture. I can't believe I had those shoes.

Post by: NES_Rules on August 20, 2006, 07:48:51 PM I had an X-mod, but traded it to a friend for a bunch of SNES games. I've always loved RC cars, but never had any "hobby" grade ones, just "toys". I've kinda got a project going with one though, building an RC car with a lawnmower size engine.

You will have to post some pictures when you finish it. Is it going to be the size of a go-cart? Title: Re: Anyone have a radio controlled vehicle? Post by: James on August 21, 2006, 09:54:15 AM I used to fly RC Planes but I got bored with them one day last year. I'm trying to sell them now but no one seems to want to buy them.
I strapped a disposable camera to one of them once. This is the runway. You can see another plane in the middle left of this picture. I haven't flown them for about a year now. My interests changed and I don't care for planes any more. Title: Re: Anyone have a radio controlled vehicle? Post by: UNFORGIVINGPAIN on August 21, 2006, 11:37:01 AM I haven't flown them for about a year now. My interests changed and I don't care for planes any more. You took some awesome pictures with that disposable camera. I lost interest in my truck for over a year, but now I'm back into RC's. My interests seem to go in cycles and I always come back to video games & RC's. It's easier to stay interested in a hobby when you are around others that share the same hobby. If I didn't race my truck with some friends it would probably still be in my basement collecting dust. Title: Re: Anyone have a radio controlled vehicle? Pretty damn cool!I also like those pics James...you could use one of those planes to spy on people in your neighborhood :P Title: Re: Anyone have a radio controlled vehicle? Title: Re: Anyone have a radio controlled vehicle? Post by: UNFORGIVINGPAIN on September 08, 2006, 10:32:44 AM Has anyone seen a Hydrofoam before? I'm thinking about getting. I don't have the money for one, but thoughts are free. If you have never seen one you can watch a video here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xi1IT69QlSs).
