Title: A Friendly Reminder :) Post by: TraderJake on August 01, 2006, 08:06:42 PM Hi everybody how's it going. I just want to make sure everybody knows that on the forum we need to use a little bit of etiquette. This isn't AIM, so please make a fervent attempt to make posts that we can comprehend clearly. Capitals and the likes are needed in every post with the exception for threads that are sticky and begin with either "A Completely" or "Random". Perhaps we will create a forum for completely off the wall crap, but we are not there yet.
Oh, look at that! It's Mr. Period from Penny Arcade, and he has some tips on forum etiquette! I'm a little ashamed.
Title: Re: A Friendly Reminder :) Post by: Hydrobond on August 02, 2006, 08:12:25 AM We will not simply bow down to your spelling oppression!
Not even Mark Twain agreed with proper spelling... Quote from: Mark Twain For example, in Year 1 that useless letter "c" would be dropped to be replased either by "k" or "s", and likewise "x" would no longer be part of the alphabet. The only kase in which "c" would be retained would be the "ch" formation, which will be dealt with later. Year 2 might reform "w" spelling, so that "which" and "one" would take the same konsonant, wile Year 3 might well abolish "y" replasing it with "i" and Iear 4 might fiks the "g/j" anomali wonse and for all. http://www.i18nguy.com/twain.htmlJenerally, then, the improvement would kontinue iear bai iear with Iear 5 doing awai with useless double konsonants, and Iears 6-12 or so modifaiing vowlz and the rimeining voist and unvoist konsonants. Bai Iear 15 or sou, it wud fainali bi posibl tu meik ius ov thi ridandant letez "c", "y" and "x" -- bai now jast a memori in the maindz ov ould doderez -- tu riplais "ch", "sh", and "th" rispektivli. Fainali, xen, aafte sam 20 iers ov orxogrefkl riform, wi wud hev a lojikl, kohirnt speling in ius xrewawt xe Ingliy-spiking werld. And more recently: http://www.startribune.com/389/story/534351.html Even Microsoft is getting in on it: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/children/leetspeak.mspx Title: Re: A Friendly Reminder :) Post by: den68 on August 02, 2006, 03:34:21 PM well ain't this a fine how do you do!?!?!?!?

Title: Re: A Friendly Reminder :) Post by: TraderJake on August 02, 2006, 07:41:43 PM I think that comic is hilarious. I'd truly be humored if someone did that here. Too bad that same person would subsequently be temp banned for a while, reason: "Don't act like this is Gamefaqs."
PS: Evan you are an ass. Title: Re: A Friendly Reminder :) Post by: Zimbacca on August 03, 2006, 12:06:03 AM Yay! Penny-Arcade!

Title: Re: A Friendly Reminder :) Post by: Hydrobond on September 13, 2006, 03:50:08 PM Fuck, fuck, fuckity, Fuck. Too many Fucks? Nope, 'fuck' is a word. I can understand 'fuck' when I see it. Sentence structure and overall post coherence are really what prompted me to bump the thread. Title: Re: A Friendly Reminder :) Post by: den68 on September 13, 2006, 04:03:47 PM I can understand 'fuck' when I see it. Tis better to DO fuck than to SEE fuck. Title: Re: A Friendly Reminder :) Post by: TraderJake on September 13, 2006, 05:20:01 PM My god, I'm surprised the forum doesn't censor that word. Oh Well.
Title: Re: A Friendly Reminder :) Post by: Hydrobond on September 13, 2006, 09:22:33 PM I can understand 'fuck' when I see it. Tis better to DO fuck than to SEE fuck. I'll remember that the next time I'm in Taiwan... My god, I'm surprised the forum doesn't censor that word. Oh Well. Where's the fun in that? Title: Re: A Friendly Reminder :) Post by: shaggy on September 14, 2006, 05:48:53 AM My god, I'm surprised the forum doesn't censor that word. Oh Well. Why in the Fuckity Fuck would you want to do that Trader Jake? Title: Re: A Friendly Reminder :) Post by: den68 on September 15, 2006, 09:08:41 AM I remember when "fuck" was the worst word you could say. I suppose it still is but it's used with such frequency that it's impact is rather watered down. It's almost not a swear word anymore.
Title: Re: A Friendly Reminder :) Post by: Izret101 on September 15, 2006, 01:34:08 PM My god, I'm surprised the forum doesn't censor that word. Oh Well. Why in the Fuckity Fuck would you want to do that Trader Jake? Seriously? Fuck is one of my favorite words to use :) It can be used in so many ways and situations. I try to shy away from it on the site though. We arn't a bunch of fucking uneducated fools who can't come up with a better way to express ourselves are we? Well maybe i am. The "C word" is the worst now i think. God forbid you say cu.... caught myself. Don't want to catch flack for that one ;) Title: Re: A Friendly Reminder :) Post by: Tynstar on September 15, 2006, 02:58:24 PM LMAO

In fact if you use any variable of those in female company it never seems to go down well, the missus doesn't like me to say minge either.
