Title: SNES & Games
Post by: thx1138 on July 30, 2004, 04:41:14 AM
mrs.THX just got me, for £10;

SNES with two standard controllers, and these loose games;

Super Bomberman
Super Mario World
Street Fighter II turbo
Donkey Kong Country

from the charity store that she volunteers in, they are not  allowed to sell second hand electrical items, but the manager puts consoles aside for us.

Will keep Super Bomberman, and sell Donkey Kong and Marioworld on eBay, and trade the SNES and Streetgihter in for Megadrive games at Gamestation

I just scored an SNES today with Super Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat II and Ultra Mortal Kombat, all for $30. Not quite the bargain THX got but it was handy and I was loaded. I got it from the Potter's House store in Athens, GA which in recent years has tried to charge more for things than other thrift stores.

The Salvation Army stores here are a different story. I went to both the ones here in town, getting an SVGA monitor for $5 at one and a generic PC flight-style joystick for $1 at the other.

Earlier this week the PH had a complete original GameBoy in the plastic case with Tetris, Super Mario Bros. 2 and Dr. Mario carts, all for $20 which is about what I'd end up paying if I got a GB over the net.

Oh, also scored a Nintendo Top Gun cart for $2 at PH today, too.

And at the Habitat store, I got a Mac Performa II for $25. Not really what you think of as a choice gaming machine but I collect old computers anyway and I know I can find something to do with it. I ended up buying more things than I really meant to today but it makes up for missing my run last Saturday.

Correction: that was a Mac Performa 200. Turns out it's loaded with Word and works great - the paper white display looks really good and since it's one of those one-piece designs, it's compact. I still need a larger place to live and keep all these things...
