Title: Favorite TV Channel
Post by: Rejinx on May 22, 2006, 07:13:55 PM
And no, channel 3 is not a good answer.

Mine is The History Channel followed by CNN.  I know I am a nerd.  I think a would like The Science Channel and G4, but I don't catch them. :(

So what's yours?

Oh boy, Clinton News Network ::)

I don't have cable so I'd have to say FOX for The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Family Guy and all the other reruns they show.

I don't go out of my way to watch TV.  Only watch while falling asleep at night.

History Channel - National Geographic Channel - Discovery Channel

Used to like TLC, but then they grew ovaries.  Havn't enjoyed TLC since the mid 90's.

Will watch Comedy Central when there is nothing on the other channels.  Gotta let the brain cool off once in a while.

Would prolly watch more channels, but I don't get digital cable.

And in the family room, I always keep it on channel 3 - because thats the only way to interface with the cable box.

Same here.  Occasionally I watch Fox though, but only really when House is on.  I love that show.

Once in a while I even watch FSN and the Travel Channel, but only for poker tournaments.  I love watching poker on TV... helps improve my game.  |D

If I can't say channel 3, can I say channel 4 or video 2?  ;)

The wife and I don't have cable at all, we get like 4 channels. Which is more then the last apartment by 1. But if I did have cable my favorite would be Speedvision. I don't much care for NASCAR but I like racing in general. Other picks might be TNN, TNT, Sci-fi, Discovery, and Comedy Central

I agree, I don't watch much TV anymore. Everything I want to see is on the internet.

TV on the internet sucks ass.

1) Stream or download either way takes to long. I want it NOW.
2) Screen is to small.

that's why you drop tv cable and invest in high speed so you can grab shows in 10-15 minutes or so, then run your PC through your tv/stereo, you may not get everything the night it airs, but it's free and usually has 5.1 and has no commercials, not too mention you can pause it like a DVR. :P

at the same time i know for allot of americans high speed isn't what it's cracked up to be for them, i've heard some nasty horror stories about having to pay installation costs and buying hardware for 256bit dsl etc., up here a 5.0mbit cost about $35 cdn a month with no hardware or install cost, and you get an average 6-700kb/s download speed, and pricing and speed varies from $20 - $40 for 1.5mbit to 7.0mbit depending on where you live. in comparison, tv cable with around 40+ channels is $50 a month or so, or as much as double for digital cable around here.

I have high speed it isnt all that fast. I have DVR. I have a stero with 5.1 but it is not hooked to my PC it is hooked to my TV. I am not watching TV on a 19" monitor thats the main issue for me.

sorry i didn't clarify, i meant use tv-out and stream it to your tv/stereo from your PC, i've used my TV as a second monitor for years now and run windows media player and winamp on it, and my PC's audio is plugged into my reciever through digital coax

stealing TV shows by downloading them off the internet

that's always fun but there are also some good shows that can only be seen from the internet. Podcast like Hak.5 (http://www.hak5.org/), Hacking Illustrated (http://www.irongeek.com/i.php?page=security/hackingillustrated), Diggnation (http://www.diggnation.org/), Geekdrome (http://www.revision3.com/geekdrome), and commandN (http://commandn.typepad.com/) as well as many others.
