I'm Mark, 21 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I study law. Not a very fun study, but I wouldn't really know what else to do.
I start gaming on a pc, before I moved on to the master system. Since then I've always had a weak spot for sega. I've got about 550 games at the moment, and it's not really growing in amount. Whenever I buy something, I usually sell something too. I'm working on a complete saturn collection, only 16 more to go, woohoo!

I'm Mike.  I live in Cincinnati, OH, and lately have been spending my life doing a whole lot of nothing.  I'm hoping that this web site will keep me occupied and be a lot of fun as well.  I've been collecting video games for as long as I could play them, and have always wanted my own video game website.  With the other awesome staff members we have here, it'll surely be an awesome experience.

I collect just about anything I can get my hands on, but have a soft spot for NES, as it was my first system as a kid.  The neo-classics are all personal favorites, but I am still known to play Breakout on my 2600 for more hours than is normally considered healthy.  Of course, I still try to keep up with current releases as well.

Oh, and I ate a guinea pig in Peru once.

Hi everybody.  I am Jay.  I currently study electrical and computer engineering at Purdue. I live in Cincinnati, the Queen City.  I am not really a video game collector, but I do enjoy playing them.  I found this board through Nep, whom I am friends with outside of the Internet.

I would have to say that my favorite system is N64, mainly because it was the first system I ever really had games for. (I had SNES, but only Super Mario Bros. and Street Fighter.) Plus, it just owned PS, even though no one else thought so.

I've also been seeing the same girl (Krissi....YAY!) for over 7 years now, and when I get married your all invited. ;)

I'm Dennis, 36 and from the state of Michigan. I have a wife (Carol), daughter (Allison) and a dog (Stevie) and a fierce habit for collecting.

I collect anything and everything video game related. My first sytem was the Atari 2600, then the Commodore 64, then NES, then Genesis, then PS1. Then I decided I might as well try to get them all. Along the way I've been finding out just how much there is to get, but damn it's fun looking.

I'm particularly fond of the hunt. Thrift Stores, Flea Markets, Garage Sales, the bargain bins. I hit em' all.

Rob, 22, from good ol' Britain.  I play too many games, too much guitar, and don't do enough work.  Start and stop collections in strange ways, generally I get rid of something or other when the moths in my wallet need something else to eat.  Other than that, I play clanned online games a lot, and have been for around 6 years.

I'm Mark. Married, 32 years old, from Bedford, England, but grew up near Brighton. I hardly ever do any real work. Currently I work just 8 hours a week for the Royal Mail. Everything in my house is pretty much salvage, or second hand, or a freebie, or I've done some work for a friend in exchange for something. My food comes from the cheapest stores, and I holiday out of season, and don't own a car. I'm happy with this lifestyle, stuff the rat-race I say. :)

Get everywhere by bicycle, and go games hunting by bicycle too. Only really seriousy started a collectio  this year, but I've bee into retro for 5 years, and playing video games since 1978, and had my first proper machine in 1982.

My collecting is done on a shoestring budget, and I often sell my rarer finds on eBay to fund my collecting overall. I can't stand cardboard boxes, and often throw them away, if Iget a mint boxed game in cardboard I often just sell it

Well, not really.

Alright, I just turned 25. I've been married for 2 years now, and have a 15 MO son. I'm currently in the USAF, and I fix airplanes. OH JOY! I am from southern Jersey, and am stationed in DE right now.. :(    I'll be swapping over to train as a Linguistics Cryptologist next year, and then I'm heading to Japan, followed up by PCSing over to WA state. That's where I hope to attend DigiPen, and fulfill my dream.

I've been gaming since I could hold a controller, or should I say joystick or paddle. My dad got me started on an Atari 2600, up to the XE. We were the first to have a NES, but couldn't afford a Genesis. Yup,..skipped the Master System altogether.

I am a part time graphic artist, only because like most of us, I lack confidence. People have always pushed me to do something with it, but there was nowhere, or no one to exploit me, so that's that.

I used to have a massive NES and SNES collection, but I sold all but my personal favorites on eBay, when they first started out. It helped get me my first beater. A 1990 Chevy Cavalier,........man, what a junker. Now, my collection would have easily scored me a second car, and a nice one at that. :(

Right now, I am ferociously collecting GameCube games. Only 85 so far, but it's hard with a family, and my measly pay. I love rpg's, fighters, adventure, action, shmups, tactical, strategy, horror, twitch, and pretty much any good game. Yes, sometimes I even enjoy a sports game,...if you consider Tony Hawk a sports game.

I have a handful of rare sealed games too. Including Panzer Dragoon Saga, Final Fantasy Tactics, Alien vs Predator, and a few other gems. Unfortunately, I sold my sealed Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy III, due to some unforseen problems.
I wonder if I'll ever track those down again????

Anyways, I'm also an Alien/Predator nut! I have every toy made, in their likeness's's's. All the comics, and movies as well. I broke one of my LE statues, and vowed never to spend so much money on such an item again. I also love the Kaiju! I love Godzilla, Daimajin, Gamera, and pretty much all of the rest! I love anime too, if you couldn't figure that out. :)

I have over 350 DVDs, and growing. My music collection isn't hurting either, with over 400 CDs,...and yes, they are all legit.

I have so many ideas for games, it hurts. So, I bottle them all up inside, until the day my dreams can be realized. I thought about trying some DC homebrews, but I lack all skills neccessary. Soon, baby,...soon.

I'm currently gaming on my Sony Grand WEGA; KF-50WE610!  With a Sony STR-DE885, pushing my sound! All digital, component and optical connections, for the supreme gaming experience.

My name is Dustin.  I am 24 (25 in a couple days) and a student at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan.  I came across this site from Digital Press.  My first system was an Atari 2600 and I really started playing when I got my NES.  The NES is the base of my collection but I pick up what I can find.  I especially like finding the things I couldn't get when I was younger for really cheap at Thrift Stores or Rummage Sales.  Such as the Virtual Boy I found a couple weeks ago for $1.10.

I'm Jon, 34, never married, a musician, artist and writer and partial to older systems but glad to have any kind. I have something like 22 computers and 7 consoles, with some orders about to go into the mail as well. I was a clubworker up until this week when I abruptly quit in disgust over something after 6 years of loyal service at that particular venue. Now I have time to play more games at night and live a healthier lifestyle as a consequence. I've also found lately that participating in these message boards is as surprisingly habit-forming as video games.

Hmm... I'm George.  I was poor in my earlier years so I never actually owned an NES nor an SNES.  My first gaming experience was at my neighbors with the NES, I was around five then. I played games such as Little Nemo: Dream Master and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  The first gaming device I've ever owned was my big fat gray GameBoy!  My first console was the Playstation.  The playstation is probably my favorite cuz I love Final Fantasy games, and that's pretty much where you can find them.  I don't really collect games, I only keep the really good ones that I like, so I obviously don't have a huge collection.  Besides that, I live in Cincinnati, OH and THE END!

Wellllllll I'm Geoff, 29 years old and in South Wales in UK. Been into videogaming most of my natural life. I got a Sinclair Spectrum for my 7th birthday, then changed to a Commodore Amiga. Only recently however in the last 5 years or so have I entered the world of console owners.

A PlayStation and Tomb Raider 2 was my first purchase before upgrading to a PS2 and then getting an XBox. Also in this time I've bought a PC, although I don't use the PC for gaming as I get bored with installing, uninstalling and re-installing games. Plus as it's not exactly state of the art, I get fed up of seeing games I fancy which will not work.

Am into racing / driving games mainly. But love FPS, "survival horrors", and some sports sims (but mainly golf, snooker, tennis games rather than soccer, rugby or any of the US sports - NHL, NFL, NBA, and other three letter combinations).

Im Tim i love video games, mostly online games, but sometimes when a game like fable comes out i just play by myself for a while. My first system was an SNES, from my grandmother, my parents never wanted me to play video games, but that never worked out for them. Currently i have, a vectrex, 2 ataris, my ps2, xbox (LIVE), my gameboy advance SP, and my new handheld, the n-gage QD.

I "collect" more games than I actually play them. Generally, it's because I don't have that much time to play them, so I would get the games and save them for later. I just started playing FFIV tonight, and giggle like crazy 'cause I remembered when I first played (or watched my brother played) FFIV when it was on SNES. :3 Ahh... Good Olde SNES. I play mainly RPGs and is a total SIMs addict. No, no, NOT Sim Life and all that... Sim as in Simulation games such as Angelique and Cupid Bistro. :3 Anyway, first console was the olde school Game Boy when it first came out. However, since my parents didn't like the kids to play video games, that remained as the only system I ever had... Until later on... The next thing we got was SNES, sooner or later... Discovered Lufia and became a RPG addict. (Lufia 2 remains as my all time favourite game. :3) Unfortunately... Due to some reasons, I don't have my SNES and SNES games anymore... ;___; I really want them back... *sniffle* Anyway, after that, PS, GBC, PS2, GBA, GBASP, and GC, in that order. I got GC over this summer JUST FOR TALES OF SYMPHONIA. XD;; Now... I guess the next thing I'm going to get is a Japanese PS2, probably PSP then a PS3 in the future. ^__^v I hope I'll get to find a job soon so I could actually start buying stuff! XD; (My part-time job doesn't cover what I want to get... Hahaha...)

Hey yo, my name is John. I'm a 16 year old from Brighton, MA (right outside of Boston) and like most of the people here I probably play too many games for my own good. Generally I play things from the Genesis/SNES/Turbo era to current games, although there are definitely further back titles I like. I've been playing PC games for a long while, but getting an N64 in 2000 really set the ball rolling in this hobby.

Favorite genre is action games, although I mean that in a very broad sense that even includes fighting games; I play pretty much anything from Super Metroid to Thunder Force IV to Snake Eater to Guilty Gear X2, it's just RPGs and strategy games that I usually avoid. Finally, I have so little of a life that I staff on a user review-focused game site, http://honestgamers.com. Check it out, it's not rotten crap like 99% of the sites out there, and neither are the reviews.

And unfortunately, I have yet to eat any Peruvian guinea pigs.

Hello all, I'm Brian and I live in Lockport, NY just outside of Buffalo.  I am way older than I would like to admit but that just means that I have been gaming longer then most.  My first game system was a Coleco Telstar (which I still have in the box) and then I moved on to the Atari 2600 (the Heavy sixer which I also still have in the box).  In any event after many years I have lots of vintage systems and plenty of games for them.  I haven't gotten in to the newer system yet but since I have three young boys it's just a matter of time!  Oh and just because I need somthing else to fill up what's left of my time and space I also collect computers ( http://www.old-computers.com/club/collectors/ordis.asp?c=3909 ) and currently have over 125 of them laying about the house as well.

I dont like the style of the Message Board, so I might not be on here a lot, plus I have many other boards that I am currently active in. My name is Jeremy and as I start this out, I can't help but feel like this is a personal ad for dating or something.  :D

On that note, I am 28 and married with two kids.  We live in Phoenix, AZ and I guess I am just as much a collector as I am a gamer.  I'm not sure if there is a fine line there but sometimes I feel like I am looking for games at sales or on ebay more than I am actually playing.  

I love the NES, grew up on it.  But, for gaming purposes I have been playing quite a bit of the Cube lately.  This is a little embarrassing because it seems like such a childish game sometimes but I am currently addicted to Animal Crossing.  I also got my wife hooked on it and then my 4 year old son.  Actually, he is becoming quite the little gamer!  I just picked up a Gamecube game at Sam's Club yesterday called "Tonka Rescue Patrol" and I can't pull him off the thing.  He woke up this morning and was playing it before he got ready for school (Pre-Kindargarten).  On a side note, the Sam's Club here in Phoenix (the one near me anyway) has their GC games for under $13 each!  It's about the cheapest GC games I have seen at a retail store.

That's about it for now, I only belong to a couple forums like this, DigitPress being the other main one.  Actually, the only other forum I go to is animalcrossingcommunity.com which helps me keep track of my AC inventory items and chat with the other Animal Crossing geeks.  Jeez....am I really 28 already!!!  :laugh:

Well, Northen Ireland, but its part of the UK, so I say I'm British.
Although I'm young, I'm a dedicated retro gamer, collecting mainly snes, n64, Amiga and Atari games.
My favourite type of game is the LucasArt's adventure game. I don't have a favourite game, but I do love Final Fantasy 4, Super Metroid, Goldeneye and Monkey Island.
I'm my spare time I'm a programmer and artist, and indulge myself by making my own games. And I say w00t a lot.

Some of you will know me from Digital Press as I was Cuewarrior over there.  

I collect for all systems, but the only complete collection I have is the Microvision, all CIB.  

Currently, I'm a Halo 2 on Live addict, and nothing has grabbed me this hard since Vice City.  

Anyway, I look forward to trading ideas with the rest of you addicts.  

I'm Gary, 38, from Waterford, MI. I work in Program Planning for an automotive supplier. I got back into video console gaming at the beginning of 2004 after about an 8 year absence (my last system was a SegaGenesis).

After seeing all the capabilities of the Xbox and playing it at a friend's house I was hooked. It also helped that I had a $50 gift certificate to a local mall burning a hole in my pocket (EBGames got that).

After trading in some old Magic:the Gathering cards that I never used, I used the cash from that to help finance building my XBox library (44 titles at present). I'm very happy to point out that I've paid full price for a game only once (Prince of Persia: Sands of Time@$49.99; which remains unfinished :-/). The rest of the titles I've been able to acquire from ebay, used titles from retail discount bins, special sales, gifts,  using Replay Rewards from Media Play, trade ins, etc.

The game score that I'm most happy I took advantage of was trading in Fable (paid $40 new when it first came out) and getting $36 credit towards Halo 2. Effectively, I was able to play the snot out of Fable for 5 or 6 weeks for the low low price of 4 bucks. Not bad. I was also able to find Disgaea for PS2 for $10 at a local flea market.

My first system was the 2600. Eventually I upgraded to the NES. Then traded that in to get the SegaGenesis. After selling the Sega in '95, I hadn't had the desire to purchase a console until I discovered all the capabilities of the XBox. I haven't looked back since.

My earliest video game memory was going to a bar/restaraunt with my parents and playing a game of pong on a stand up machine with my dad. Yes, I am that old!  |D

I'm Zac.  I live in Noblesville, IN, I'm 18 years old, and I am currently a student in high school (hoping to graduate this year).  I've been playing video games since before I can remember.  I just started collecting about a year ago, and at that time I had all the modern systems and a SNES.  Since then, I have amassed a total of around 21 systems, including different models.  I am a big Nintendo and Sega fan, and I like everything else about equally, with the exception of XBox.  I had an XBox, but I sold it right before the release of Halo 2 for $100 simply because I was getting tired of all the hype over games that didn't deserve it (Halo & Fable mainly), as well as the fact that I couldn't find any games I could get into on XBox that weren't multi-platform.  (The money I got from selling the XBox went almost entirely toward Gamecube games. |D)

I'm hoping that this site will provide me with a way to fill my ample amounts of free time, as well as helping me to become integrated into the collecting community.

hey everybody. im adam im 14  and im  Anthonys brother or as some of  you know him by izret.i live in springfield mass also. i just collect what i can get that is cheap. but i do collect all the final fantasy things i currently own about 8 final fantasy titles. unfortunatly though i've only beaten 1 of them which i find kind of shameful. ive always loved video games and have always strived to beat my brother in them. i currently own about 50 games... i think. across 5 or 6 consoles. well thats pretty much it.

I'm Chris, 33 from Warwickshire in the UK. I've had loads of computers and consoles and lost/sold them all.
These include Intellivision+Speech Synth and B17 Bomber and Solar Sailor, wish I still had that! I also had ZX Spectrum, Commodore Amiga, SNES, N64, Gameboy, Dreamcast, PS1, Various PC's from 386 on and Grandstand and Tomy 3D handheld.
Currently  I own a Gamecube, GBA-SP and PC
My all times greats include Super Mario Anything, Zelda Anything, Chronotrigger, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, etc.
The games that annoy me most are ones with download content to complete - Skies of Arcadia on DC for example. I don't believe you should ever have to hook to the internet or another piece of hardware to see everything in a game.

Well, I think it's about time I introduce myself ;)

I'm Pieter, 20 years old, and currently studying international Economics at the University of Maastricht, the Netherlands.  I started collecting NES games/accessories & anything else Nintendo related from the era of the NES, when I was about 12 years old and living in the US (California).  After a couple years of collecting, I took a long break, moved to Belgium, and just recently started getting back into the collecting habits a few weeks ago.  I've always liked video/pc games, and it all started with the Amiga 500 when I lived in Germany (it was really popular over there).  I mostly stopped gaming after moving to Belgium, since I'm not much of a solo player...I do like RPGs, but I prefer playing with friends...and since hardly any of my friends are true gamers around here, I don't do a lot of gaming anymore...which really isn't that bad, since it's usually just a waste of time anyways ;)  My interests in collecting at the moment are just to reach some milestones, fill some collections, and get ahold of some nice PAL games, accessories, and all of the pirated stuff that seems to be somewhat common around here ;)

Well, howdy.  If you'll look to your left, you will see that my name is Vladimir.  Nothing to do with that impailer guy, I got my name from some Polish guy that I work with.  by the way, I work at the Indianapolis Zoo.

My favorite system would prolly be the N64, soley for the two Zelda games.  My first system was the N64, but even so I have high respect for older games.  In other words, I know where I come from.  I'm more of the kind of person that plays the games rather than mmaking a huge effort to collect them.  Anime and manga is what I make an effort to collect.

Just a head's up, I fucking hate Xbox and Microsoft.  Don't even get me started.  Everyting else is cool though.

I don't know if it's dumb to reply to this thread with my first post or not, oh well here goes: Amongst my many other hobbies I like to lay claim to I (obviously) collect games. I'm one of those collect them to play them sorts of people. Besides the computer stuff I have about 7 systems and am closing in on 100 games between them all with about 70 of them being NES. I am always trying to grow my collection but there is that money thing which gets in the way sometimes. Being as my collection in realitivly small you may think I am new to the hobby, but I still have my first NES which was one of the earlyer ones and have never gotten rid of anything. I guess I'm just slow. I have been trying to do better lately as I only reciently picked up an Odessy^2 off ebay for all of $2.25.

I will try and do a good job of writing on this fourm as it looks like an intresting place to be, but I have to warn you I have a history of posting little on the net. I basicly like to lurk around and see what everyone else has to say, haha.

I envy some of u (especially ppl in the US), b/c getting NES/SNES games here is a bit hard... fans are hiding somewhere and not willing to share :D

In the past, I have worked at Paramount's Kings Island as their bitch. I believe my official title when I never came back was Merchandise Location Manager. I ran all the stores in the waterpark, and I was only sent 'on vacation"'once. Nowadays I alternate between quarters of co-op and school. I am studying to become a civil engineer, but more specifically a traffic engineer. That means that all my recommendations will be your headaches in 20 years. In my free time I play frisbee golf, Taiko: Drum Master, Meteos, surf the internet, and as my friends know, sleep. Sometimes I also do contributions to the site known as RF Generation, which has caused the Perl to start refering to me as a member of the Pseudostaff.

I look forward to the playing Mario Kart and Super Smash Brothers Online someday, and I hope I won't be dead when it happens.

Hello everyone, my name is Doug and I have a problem.  It started when I was 12 and bought my self a Sega Genesis.  Then is got worse I got a job at a small game store in Cincinnati called Game Swap. I have collected over 60 systems and what ever my profile says I have for games  :) .  I have a wife named Shannon hence there's a room for my games and none in the living room.  My favorite system is the Sega Genesis with the Saturn a very close second.  Love the RPG's and Saturn Bomberman (thanks to the Cinci-Classic).

Im pretty new to the world of game collecting (I started this summer '05) but have been gaming all of my life. I'm a nintendo geek through and through but lately I've been just grabbing any system that I think is cheap.  I think that the NES is probably my Favorite system but recently I have been focusing more on the 5200 and Colecovision.  
So, since this is supposed to be an introduction, I guess I wil tell you a little about myself...I am 24, married, and father of a 2 y.o. girl.  I am currently a substitute teacher and I am in for an Art Teacher (until at least October).  I graduated college in 2003 with a B.A. in English and have been a substitute ever since (I haven't been able to find a job in my area).  I live in a town called Lucasville, Ohio which is best known for its prision.  (1 1/12- 2 hours south of Columbus). Besides gaming, collecting and being with my family, my favorite thing to do is write.

My favourite console is probably the Saturn, as it is the console I remember having the most fun with. I began collecting because I was always behind with the console races when I was younger. When everyone had playstations I had a master system. But now I have a proud collection of almost! every console. Alongside about 3000 games.
I'm in sixth form college at the moment in the Uk, and will be going to university in a year to study Film production. My sister (who is also my twin) will be doing the same, but a course on video game design.
Collecting is probably up there with my favourite thing in the world. I have spent far too much money getting where I am today.

Hi there, my name's Patrick and I'm from South-East England. I've played games nearly all my life, but never considered myself a collector until recently. It started a couple of years ago, when my mother picked up a huge collection of boxed Game and Watches for under a tenner from a house clearance. Of course, she didn't tell me about them until she'd sold them for a substancial amount on eBay. The more games I play, the more I forget about the Game and Watches, which is more than a good enough reason to collect as many as I can.

Sometimes i get lot's of games in and sometimes i just take a break to test/play a game.

Since last year i'm also heavly investing time into sega stuff (got a dreamcast, saturn and megadrive  :D) i now already have about forty dreamcast games,twenty saturn games and about fifteen megadrive games (including 32x and megacd of course).

Mine favourite console would be the N64 because i've got good memory's about that console and i then got really good games like: Zelda orcania of time (got to play this one again sometime) Banjo kazooie/tooie and a bunch of other games who are all classic's in mine eyes.

I'm Andy, 24, from Accrington, which is a small town in North West England. Everyone on here from England will know where it is through a relatively infamous milk advert ran on TV about 15 years ago.

I work in a lovely warehouse selling toilet rolls and other exciting items of cleaning goods, I do the stock control and purchasing which passes the day.

I've been collecting for about as long as I've been gaming which is probably around 18 years, and I've amassed a collection of about 400 games across about 12 systems. I get most of my items from E-bay and there is no particular system I focus on and buy across the board, snapping up anything I see which appears cheap.

Besides gaming I'm a big footy (soccer) fan and go to most Burnley games home and away. This is another hobby, which enjoys taking money off you quite quickly.

I've only ever traded one game in which was WWF Wrestlemania on SNES which I swapped for Super Smash TV.

Anyway I've signed up for this website as I feel I can help a lot with the scans for the PAL side of things, as all of the games I own are PAL and 95% of them are complete (boxed with book).

I grew up with the first generation of modern consoles (NES & GameBoy that is) and kept up with Nintendo and Sega; primary collecting their games and consoles.
However, I'M open for multi-platform and don't say no to a good PS2-game either.

My collection has just passed the 100 games mark, most of them SNES. I used to have more, but sold them at the age of (about) 15.

Hello, my name's Kevin.  I'm 21, I've been collecting video games since the late 90s and have tried to collect all of the games that I remember playing as a kid (but of course, finding new... "distractions" along the way).  I'm currently a junior college student here in the Bay Area of California (getting ever closer to San Francisco, actually).  I collect mostly for my NES and my NGPC when I can find them in the wild, but mostly it's for current-gen games that are easy to pick up.  At the moment, the count is at 20 systems (if you count my FamiClone because I have FamiCom games for it) and nearly 750 different titles.

I'm also a writer, working on my own video game project in my spare time named Majestic Games, the whole object of which is to give information to any newer gamers about the hobby and even where to find the games they might be looking for.  I update it when I can.

I'm about to turn 30 in 4 days.

I've been actively rebuilding the game collection I had when I was in my early teens (that's lotsa Genesis/Snes games, pal.) I hope to add TG16/TurboDuo stuff to the collection down the road.

Overall my game collection is modest, but it's stuff I like and play.

I recently purchased a GBA SP2. I love that damned thing and I've been picking up GBA games like a madman.

My name is Josh and I currently live in Roscoe, Illinois... which is about an hour west of Chicago.  I'm 21 and am working as the sole member of the IT department at a non-profit organization.  I am also attending school full time in order to get my bachelor's degree in computer science. I'm married with two dogs. :)

I found out about this site while posting over at Digital Press.  I've been a member there for a few years and would like to expand my horizions a bit.

I began my career as a game player at 4 years old on the NES.  Since then, I've played just about every system out there (with a few exceptions).  I began a bout with collecting in 2002, but then stopped and sold about 75% of my stuff for cash when I moved in with my girlfriend (now wife).

Now I'm a better financial position and have slowly began to collect once again.  Currently my favorite system is the DS - I play the thing all the time.  All time favorite would have to be SNES though.

Anyway, thanks for providing what looks to be a great community.

Hello peoples. My name is Brian. I'm 27, and I live near Charlotte, NC. I've been gaming since I was 4, and still have my original 2600 and all of my games, so I guess you could say I've been collecting for about 23 years.
I try to keep my collection well rounded, but it still mostly consists of Nintendo and Sega items.

I'm a huge Castlevania freak, and own ALL of the US Castlevania releases CIB (minus Curse Of Darkness and Dawn of Sorrow), and am starting to work on getting the import versions.

I'm known primarily for my PlayStation collecting, being a variant whore and for being half of the US PSX editiors for Digital Press.  I've also got a hearty PS2, DC, XB, GC and a good number of games for a few other systems.  Hopefully I can help out and learn some new stuff here.

My name is Tom (some of my friends call me Tommy). I  just turned 30 this past November , and I have played video games on and off ever since the Atari 2600 days. It was the first sysem I had and although my dad had some old system which had pong type games and a skeet shooting. I don't remember the name of that system . Anyway the Atari was what everyone had back then and I was able to play both the Colecovision adn Intellivision over at friend's houses. I loved the old atari and got many many miles out of itt, but even then kids were not foolish, so when the Nintendo launched back in 85 I had to get ahold of those real arcade graphics! I got the system with the zapper and ol ROB the robot.  

Those were my first two systems and they will forever hold a special place in my heart . They make up the bulk of my "collection" which I started a few years ago mostly trying to recapture the days of old.

I did have a sega Genesis at the end of the run and then I bought a playstation and a nintendo 64 in college the last two I still have. I have since bought a sega genesis and a master system, a couple of super NES, a toploader NES, and a few Atari systems.

I also own an X-box, a Gamecube, and my girlfriend and I have his and hers Game Boy Advance SPs (classic Nes version naturally)

When I am not collecting or playing my games I also like to work out, play basketball, I'm learning how to golf (slowly) and I also love to watch movies (especially martial arts) as I was a cinema major for a while in college.

I have worked in IT as a tech support guy and as a web/graphic design guy, and I still work on some things for money and as a hobby, but for now I am working  with kids as a behavioral specialist to pay the bills while my gf finishes her nursing courses.

Some people might say I am a video game addict or think I am nuts with all the games I have. Well much like I am not an alcoholic, but merely a beer enthusiast, I am also a video game enthusiast. I am happy to have found a place to be at home amongst other  gaming enthusiasts!

anyways. i manage at a gamestore, go to college, make music (was doing it before beatmania  :laugh:) and i love to play most video genres. my goal as a colector is to have a complete wonderswan/wonderswan color collection, i am up to 4 boxed consoles, 56 boxed games, 1 proto and 1 odd phone accessory.

my other collecting efforts go towards amassing a large blaxploitation film dvd collection. i may be fairly young but pam grier is a godess of her time hehe.

also i've been playing city of heroes since May '04 so if theres any other players give me a yell, pinnacle reprasent.

Anyway, I found RF Generation through Wikipedia and, being quite the video game fanatic that I am, I decided to join. My favorite game of all-time is Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.  My screen name is ATARIPITBULL, If any of you are from Atariage.com, or the now dead Gamerzuniverse.net, then you might know me.  Atari 2600 was the very first game system I received as a kid and have loved it ever since.  My original Atari system and games were destroyed when my house in Detroit MI, burned down, but I have been collecting hard core for about 5 years now and my collection has grown to around 500 or so, boxed 2600 games, plus I have my Atari extras like controllers, posters, store displays, t-shirts, jackets, duffle bags and many more Atari 2600 items.  Now as far as my self, I am 6'3, 231 pounds, I lift weights, kickbox, Boxing & do Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for many years, I have a wife and 2 great kids.

I'm D.W. from Maryland.  21 years old and life long gamer.  I didn't appreciate the value of games when I was younger, and therefor either lost or destroyed a lot of games that would be considered classics today.

As it stands, I have a rather modest collection, with only 9 systems and roughly a dozen games for each, but it's constantly growing, as not a week goes by that I don't find something new to add.

My ultimate goal is to have the largest collection of consoles and games in existance.  At this early stage, my main focus is rare PSone RPGs and the entire Dreamcast game library, though I've been known to stray from the plan more than a few times ;).

Well seeing as my collection is currently featured, I thought it was about time for an intro post. My name's Stephanie, 24, and I've been collecting seriously for around three years now. Before then I had about 15 PSX games and a handful of Genesis and Sega CD games that I got from birthdays, etc.

I tend to gravitate towards RPGs, adventure, and survival horror genres, and love niche music and quirky Japanese games.

Although most of my games are for Sony systems, I have a big fondness for Sega, and hope to one day focus more on my Sega CD, Saturn, and Dreamcast collections.

I am Ty.  i am from mukwonago in south eastern wisconsin.  i am 14 years old and am the oldest of 4 children.  my favorite video game system is either atari 2600 or N64, or sega genesis (atari becuz games are so cheap n64 becuz its fun genesis becuz the cd drive PWNs)i have about 150 video games.  when i was young my dad had a gameboy(its mine now, in my closet right now) and one day my cousin gave me an NES when i was 3.  it had 10 controllers, loads of periphals, and at least 100 games.  i sold all of it for $65 to some kid so i could buy kirby 64 and the strat. guide (damn you, kirby.  that game is in the VERY BACK) of my closet.  i started collecting last summer.    in december my cousin (the same one that gave me the NES) was cleaning out her old house and found an atari 2600 with 30 games, a set of paddle controllers, and 2 joysticks.  she gave them to me.  before this, i thought anything that came before the NES was crap. i will list my systems.

Well I am Kris I am currently 24 and have been collecting for about 5 years and have been playing games as long as I can remember :)  I collect for everything sort of... I have stuff from Atari to the 360 so its a good range.  I mainly Collect NES complete titles thats the goal at least, and sealed and rare Mario/Nintendo Items.  Have any I will probably want it :)  I post on Atariage and digipress often, and ebay a lot :)  Its an addiction.

I go to Texas A&M University and I have 17 hours left till I get a degree in Chemical Engr. :) Then I can afford my Habit I hope :)  I love Games and Sports.  Well thats about it this seems like a great site and if scans or anything is ever needed I would be glad to help that includes articales, info or anything :)

The same year I actually became a big time collector.  
I had a handful of games before I started collecting, I'd say about 100 games or so.  But I have added quite a bit since then and probably have a small collection of about 175-200 games.  Yes, it is small, but I am proud of some of the rare, valuable, and hard to find titles I have.  For the most part now I run around looking for the missing manuals and boxes for my older games that got thrown away through my childhood years.

What i have been working on now for the last year or so is my boxed NES collection, I am almost done I need about 35 more boxes. Almost done with 5200,7800,jaguar, PS1,intellivision and colecovision. All done with Sega CD, Sega Master,Vectrex & Virtual Boy. I have a room that is filled with games and systems all the way around.

I'm Rebecca, 26, from DeLand, FL (a bit to the west of Daytona). First system as a very young kid was the Intellivision, and though that one is gone over the years got a NES, Sega Master System, Genesis, about every type of Game Boy, N64, and Gamecube. FINALLY got around this month to getting a PS2, so now looking to add PS and PS2 games. My collections are very small; my favorites tend to be classic RPG's. I especially love my GBA SP, partly because of some of the remakes of great classics that have come out for the GBA. In addition to video games, love fishing, golf, watching football, reading, and traveling.

1972: Born in NYC, Atari was open for the first time with Pong.
1976: Mom gave me Atari Super Pong.
1977: Got the Atari Video Computer System for my B-day from Mom.
1979: Uncle gave me all the Odyssey units he had from first to Odyssy 2.
1980: One of my mom's friend got me the Intellivision and 4 games.
1982: The first 2600 game I got was Barzerk. My aunt got me the 5200.
1983: The last two console mom got me was the Colecovision & Vectrex.
1984: Got alot of used pong units from the flea market in Brooklyn.
1985: The first console I got by my self was the Nintendo NES with Rob.
1986: Found Famicom with 20 games in China town.
1987: Got Master System, Atari 7800 & XE. Also found more old consoles.
1989: Sega Genesis, Gameboy, Lynx, Plus got lots of 2600 games for .99
1990: Game Gear, dad and uncle got me the Neo-Geo and two game.
1991: Super NES, found more old units Arcadia 2001/Telstar/Channel F.
1992: CD-I , more old games like 2600/5200/7800 carts 4 for a dollar.
1993: 3DO, Jag, and got more imports in downtown like Super Famicom.
1995: Saturn, VirtalBoy, PS1, plus found lots of used carts & units.
1996: Got both Japanese and US N64.
1997: Metal Gear Solid is my all time fav PS1 game EVER!
1998: Got the Japanese Dreamcast.
1999: Got the US Dreamcast on 9.9.99
2000: Y2K came and left, still alive, plus got the PS2 both Japanese & US.
2001: Got the Gamecube both Japanese and US units. And the Xbox.
2002: I got my own plase to live in Brooklyn. Good for me now!
2004: Last game unit I got sofar is the GBA SP (NES Classic)
2005: The PS2 (smaller unit), PSP and DS.

Hi, I'm Tim, I live in Waco, Texas. I was introduced to this place by Captain Nintendo himself. I heard about it for quite some time. I recently started collecting NES games again and I thought this would be a nice place to get into it.

I grew up in the middle of the 80's, my first computer was the C64, my first console system was the Sega Master System. My first NES was in 1987. Overall my favorite systems would have to be, NES, SMS, DC, Saturn, PSX, N64, SNES, N64, TG16, and Genesis. Yet I adore the NES Top Loader by far because of it's sleak design and the fact how solid it's built :) (I dont even mind the RF signal)

These new systems don't really put much in front of me, sure it's tempting to have all the newest stuff. Yet there's a treasure chest of classics awaiting us all. Plus now that some of us are older and wiser about what games we have missed, it's been the greatest decade to come back to it all. Heck to be honest, I never owned a Turbo Grafx 16 before and I hope someday to own one in this time.

I don't believe I have formally introduced myself on these boards.  most people know me from digitpress, from selling games here and I have been in the collecting scene for nearly eight years (8 years this oct).  I just recently sold off my NES collection to travel to Africa for a month long internship.

Through my years of collecting I somewhat lost touch of the gaming aspect.  In the past three years I have done VERY little gaming, and a lot of collecting and reselling.  I am just about to start fresh and will begin collecting once school gets underway.    I have yet to decide what i will collect.  Something small to start with since my space is limited.  During this time I hope to get back into the gaming aspect and not so much the collecting.

Why the Saturn? Sega has been my long time fav, ever since I saw the SMS compared to the NES.
Plus I feel the Saturn is Sega's true moment of glory with true classics, plus nothing else felt so much like an actual arcade at home to me.

Ok this is kinda odd, but my name is also Clint. I live in southern Illinois, close to St. Louis, MO.  I bought a Nintendo off EBay in 2004 and two games. Double Dragon 2 and Super Mario Bros. 3.  After playing those for awhile I got hooked again and started buying more NES games.
 Before I knew it I was buying SNES, Sega, and Playstation 2 games as well.  Now I just try to get anything I can afford to get. My wife and I don't have much money, but we both love to play games.

My name's Rob O'Hara, but some of you all know me as Flack. I'm pretty active over at Digital Press where I'm an admin/moderator, write a couple of different articles, and write reviews for both the electronic DP newsletter and their print zine. I'm also a regular at several other forums such as Atari Age, Lemon 64, Particles.org, and others.

I've been doing quite a bit of writing over the past year. I had three articles published in the O'Reilly book Retro Gaming Hacks, had several reviews published in Videogame Collector Magazine, and published my own first book, titled Commodork: Sordid Tales from a BBS Junkie.

When it comes to console games, I've got everything from the Atari 2600 to all the current-gen consoles hooked up. In our upstairs game room I pipe all my systems into a projector with an 8' screen and a surround sound audio system. My son LOVES gaming upstairs with me.

My other hobby is collecting coin-operated arcade games. At last count I had about twenty; some of my favorites include Gauntlet, Q*Bert, Shinobi, Karate Champ and Road Blasters. Oh, and my MAME machine, of course!

I think that about covers it. I'm always looking forward to kicking it with new friends!

Hi, I'm Jimmy and I live in PA. I'm known as Abman on other forums like Nsider and Digitpress.

I signed up for the forum mainly to see if I could get some game boxes and manuals, but it looks like I will enjoy talking here too. I collect mostly for Nintendo systems, my favorite being the NES. But I will play other systems like the Sega Saturn and Playstation.

My favorite game is Super Mario Bros 3 for the NES. It's just a timeless classic that's very fun to play. Some of my other favorites include, Super Mario RPG, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Super Mario Bros 2, and Grandia II.

I recognise quite a few foks from there and elsewhere, but for anyone who doesn't know me, I'm a UK-based Sega obsessive. I've got a complete European SMS collection, plus loads of variations & US/Brazil/Australian/Japanese/Korean SMS & Mark III games, and am currently searching for the last 100 or so PAL MegaDrive games.
I collect for all other Sega systems too, but aside from the Master System & MegaDrive, it's only really SG1000 & Mark III stuff that I actively search for online.

    My name is Nelson, from Puerto Rico.  I had subscribed a long time ago, but didn't posted anything, dunno why.  Feels great to see lots of Digitalpress forum members here.  For games, I like everything but Sega for the most part.  I have a Sega Master System complete set, and I am currently working with some friend from UK(anagrama, cauterize and others :)  )  for the SMS PAL releases.  Looking also titles from Australia, Portugal, Brazil and other regions.

  My name's Ken and I'm located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in western North Carolina. I'm a long time vid-game aficionado hailing back to the days of Pong.  I obsessively make every effort to obtain as much retro goodness as I can get my hands on. I also harbor a sizable collection of 8 and 16 bit computers. A lot of gamers are really missing out on some great titles on a myriad of old systems like the Atari 800, C64, Vic-20, Apple ][, Tandy CoCo, ect.
 I really want to get some more international systems like the Sinclair Spectrum +2, Amstrad  CPC 6128, Acorn BBC, ect. At present the only foreign system I own in a Japanese made Sega 3000. The main barrier to that being the excessive shipping costs to get them here.
 I only play vintage games, not just out of choice but of necessity. Sadly, I'm one of those unfortunate ones that suffer motion sickness from the 3D imaging on all of the newer games. The most modern systems I have are the PS1, Sega Dreamcast and N64, of which most of the games are unaccessible to me. I got them all very cheaply so I figured it would be worth having them and hunting down the few 2D games that are available for them.

Hey, Im Jacob, Im 26 and live in Missouri. I am married and have 5 kids. We do a lot of racing. Motorcross/Qaud. I work at General Mills and own 2 of my own bussines's. Really started collecting games about 8 years ago. I have about 2800 different titles games. And most all systems. Only have US versions so far. I have duplicates of almost all my games, one for play and one for save. My goal is to someday have EVERY title for EVERY system, including foregin versions. Oh, and I had a couple days off work lately so I tore it up in the arcade LOL

Hey everyone, just recently discovered this site and I reckon it's a great resource.

My name's Dave, I'm 24 and from England (North Yorkshire if anyone else is from my neck of the woods) My first gaming experience came from my Dad's BBC Microcomputer when I was 7 or 8. I got a NES when I was 9 which was probably when I REALLY got into gaming.

Currently I'm building up my collection of complete NES games and thinking about doing the same for the SNES. As far as retro consoles go I've got a NES, SNES, Megadrive, Gameboy, Game Gear and N64...next buy will prob be a SMS.

Hi everyone, I've been reading the forums for about a month or so, but finally got some time to actually introduce myself. I'm Wout and I live in Belgium.

I've got every Nintendo console released over here as far as I know (well, except for the Pocket GB, and the redesigns of the GBA and DS).

My goal is to start a complete collection of N64 CIB PAL games. I'm relatively new to retro, and I'm having some money issues right now, but as soon as I can focus myself on it, I'll be starting collecting much more :D

Ive already been here for awhile but still haven't officially introduced myself. I've been collecting since I've been gaming, and that would be in 1990 when my parents bought my brother and I a Genesis. Altered Beast was my first game, but ever since then I spend most of my extra cash on Videogames (and/or Movies/Books/Musical Instruments...) The key I have found to collecting is never get rid of anything you don't have more than one of and currently I have a pretty admirable collection ranging from the Odyssey 300 (And an Autographed Photograph of Ralph H. Baer, the man who invented Pong and thus started the RF Gen) up to the last gen systems since I am still a poor college student who can't dish out $600 on new systems and games.

I'm a big RPGer, games are great if they have a great story, but honestly I will play anything and that will be apparent if you take a gander at my collection. I was introduced to this site from Samada, and you will be seeing plenty of me in the future ^^.

What really push me to become obsessive was the Nintendo Wii's virtual console.  Now I'm trying to build up a classic Sega collection has in some cases it's cheaper to have the actual original hardware.

I some cases as I saw Gunstar heroes up town where I live for £20.  :o

My biggest nightmare so far is trying to get a cable for my 32X that went from the Megadrive to the 32X.  I've looked everywhere for a place to buy one and had no luck.

You're unlikely to find a 32X cable on its own but sometimes there are "dead" 32Xes on ebay that have the cable and usually go a lot cheaper than working ones.

My name is Six, and I've been a gamer for an awfully long time. My first game was the cassette-based Bedlam for the TRS-80 Colour Computer; my first online game was Compuserve's Megawars on the same system. Looking back, I see those two experiences as watershed moments in terms of my normal social life, which is to say I wasn't going to have one. I didn't actually start collecting games until a few years ago, when I realized that the difference between a art afficionado and Peter Pan Syndrome was just a matter of terminology. I found that transitioning from man-child goof-off to serious collector was relatively simple and involved little more than telling people I'm a collector.

I am a PC gamer, exclusively and rabidly. Believe it or not, I have never owned a console, and hopefully I never will. I enjoy belittling console gamers for their crappy controllers, technological ineptitude and sexual inadequacy. Which reminds me, your girlfriends - yes, all of them - say hello.

My name is Dustin, I'm 22 and from Southern California, and I've been a dedicated Nintendo fan ever since my older brother got an NES.  Shortly after that I got my first (and best) system, the SNES. 

For a few years now I've enjoyed the fun (and expensive) hobby of collecting games.  Presently I have every US Nintendo and Sony system from the Virtual Boy to the PS3 and lots of games to go with them, but all of my retro stuff is in storage until I can muster up enough money to buy a house..

My favorite games of all time are the SNES RPGs with Chrono Trigger at the top of that list, but I love almost all the old SNES and NES games.

Eventually I'd like to try and program old style video games, but that's probably a long ways off..

I guess it'd be a good idea to finally introduce myself. I've done this on a few sites I venture to often and a bit of my info of course has changed over the years so what the heck, why not. By the way, I don't know how the site statistics work out but I've done a good amount of lurking in the past year while logged in so it looks a bit off.

But anyhow, the name's Matt as quite a few may already know and I'm 22. I've been into console gaming since my childhood but didn't begin really buying games until around 4 years ago. I decided to purchase games I had played on emulation and stock my shelves with them to the point my parents go insane. There are currently more than 1000 games in my collection but I have no plans to really go for quantity as my tastes are changing and I'm turning into a direction of quality and personal favorites but I don't plan on making quick and dramatic changes, more of a slow progression. However, currently I'm wanting a complete (CIB) collection of licensed domestic Saturn and Atari 5200 games because they are my favorite systems. The units I own are mostly main-stream and easy to find because this is a laid back hobby of mine and I prefer not to fork out tons of bucks to high-bid eBay auctions but I will shell out the money on games locally I must have. ;)

Taking a step back from consoles I do collect PC games, though I don't have any near the amount some other may have and it doesn't compare to my console stuff. My alternate universe of computer gaming (which ironically I spend more time playing) is filled with classics and modern games. I specifically bought dual monitors earlier this year just to play RTS games over both and it opened a new light on those that supported the resolution. If Starcraft II takes advantage of this setup I will be stoked but Supreme Commander, Cossacks, Age of Empires, Command & Conquer and many other RTS games work quite well with dual support so it won't be a heart break.

So now taking a step to the side (giving you a workout) I have a bunch of arcade boards and parts in my attic at the moment. I received them a few months ago and have plans to get knee deep into arcade goodness over time and build my own cabs to host these classics. A 6-slot Neo Candy Cab would be a nice addition down the road but that's a different story. I've been slowly progressing at plans to create a local arcade/pc/console organization involved with gaming guilds and restoration but it's been rough with lack of participation of local gamers. There have been some on-line responses and a few local game store owners wouldn't mind helping out a bit but it's still in its infancy and we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Some other interests/hobbies of mine include movies, anime, music and software engineering. I buy movies on DVD but anime can come on any format I have a player for (VHS/DVD/LD). Some of my favorite animes are Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Love Hina and Lost Exile though there are numerous others I enjoy. Generally older series I pickup on VHS since it's really cheap but if a DVD compilation pops up I'll buy it. I only have 1 movie on LaserDisc but I've tried to get a few others on eBay (local scene is dead) but got out-bid last second (go figure). For music I buy anime and game soundtracks on CD at pawn/thrift stores if they're to things I like. One of my DJ buds has some game music on record which kicks ass, unlucky for me I mainly find 1960's-80's records and I pick up most I find in great shape that appears it'd play without any problems. Lastly I'm a CS major currently in my senior years at a local university so programming runs through my blood. I've been writting software since I was 12 and wrote some games through middle and high school, sometimes selling the games for lunch money. I designed many clones of Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Night Driver, Tron and various other games but also made a few originals that were addictive to classmates. Due to that I of course followed the field and hope to one day create a local game company.


Welp, that's a good bite-sized overview of what attracts me here and to games. I plan to go back through my game collection and posting them to my web domain in my sig in addition to updating my list on here since it's outdated and I never completed it in the first place. I've slown down so much in adding new games to my collection it's the best time but due to work and school it'll be yet another timely process. Any questions, comments or random stuff just lemme know.

Ah, how I love the old classics of the Genesis/MegaDrive. I'll never get tired of those three game you mentioned along with other classics from around that time. The older 16bit games really echo though the ages.

The 16-bit era is probably my favorite gaming era. The games were flat out outstanding and the fieriest console war between Nintendo's SNES and Sega's Genisis. Lots of classics that helped to shape the future of gaming. I never get tired of those games I mentioned and plenty of others from that era.

Hi, I dont think I have posted in here yet.  Im gorez, I live in Birmingham, Alabama --soon I will be moving to Austin, Texas most likely, because that is where my girlfriend currently resides.  I found this website quite awhile ago, probably 1-2 years ago through seeing it at Digital Press.  But I never really got into the forums of this website just really used it for the game database so I could have a catalog of my games online.  But I plan to stop lurking around and actually start posting.

First-timer here but long-time veteran of other hobbyist forums.  Just found this place after trying to find an online database for my game collection.  Looks like I found a good one!

Long-time gamer, since a wee lad in 1977 when we had a Pong set with the three switches (hockey and handball/racketball also).  Have been gaming ever since.

I have the following consoles:  Atari 2600, NES, Game Boy, Sega Genesis, SNES, Sega CD, Virtual Boy, Sega Saturn, Sony Playstation, Nintendo 64, Gameboy Color, Sega Dreamcast, Playstation 2, Gamecube, Game Boy Advance,  and Xbox. 

By far my two favorite systems are the SNES and Dreamcast.

I have a relatively modest collection of 340 console games, which I am in the process of entering into my collection here.

Looks like a great community, hope to be able to contribute in some way.  From what I've browsed so far these are very friendly forums compared to others I've seen.

Hi, I'm Robert, been gaming for pretty much all my life. My first console was a Nintendo 64. I played my friend's PlayStation, and my cousin's Sega and Nintendo consoles. My friend then got a Dreamcast, so I was pretty up to date. I'm a big Nintendo fan and always have been, although we sold our N64 for a Playstation 2. I regret that, but we got another one. I've now got an Atari 7800, NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, 2 Gameboy Colours, 2 Gameboy Advances, Nintendo DS (Big Nintendo Fan), PS2, XBOX, Master System and Megadrive. I think I might be getting an MB MicroVision which is pretty rare.

Hey everybody! My name is Darren and I'm a 33 year old video game addict living in Texas!! I mainly collect systems, but recently have started looking towards completing libraries for some of the more common systems (I'm close on several, Sega CD an$ SMS in particular). I've got a huge appetite for the more obscure systems. My ultimate goal is to have at least 1 example of every system released in the US along with several that may not have been released. I've got pretty much all of the big ones out of the way, so now it's just waiting for nice examples of what's left to come along with the right price tag. 

I also have a fairly big collection of arcade machines, sitting at 30 or so right now. I've slowed down on the arcades in favor of the consoles in the past few years though. Much easier to store and the maintenance is considerably easier!!

Hey everyone, Eliott here. Just started up on the site and have to say that I am glad I did find it. I havent been collecting long, but what I do have is a start. For now, I am mainly collecting consoles, with the added game here and there. I try to find the occasional rare or unique one, without putting too much a damper on the pocket. It would be going alot better, as in collecting, but I suffer from Kidney failure, and funds arent coming in like when I could work. So hopefully my start is good enough for some and if all gets better in the future, I can continue on my efforts.

Well, I've been using the awesome collection tool for a few months since I restarted collecting.
I live in Brazil and my favorite gaming system is the Genesis/Mega Drive. I recently got a Sega Saturn and a Dreamcast, and I'm starting to get games for these also.
My objective in collecting games is clear: shoot'em ups. That doesn't mean I'm not into other genres though.

Hey all, my name is Matthew, and I live in Ontario Canada. I'm 23 years old, married, and have been collecting games for the past 5-6 years or so. I don't have a huge collection, as I am pretty picky about the condition. For example, I don't like loose cartridges, I only buy CIB games that are in mint condition. I have no problem with loose carts, I just prefer complete games personally.  :)

I'm glad that there is a site like RFG out there, it's nice to see there are like-minded game collectors from around the world here. Hopefully I will have my whole collection listed here soon, I'm still in the process of organizing. About half my collection is up now, I'll take pictures when my organization process is complete.

Hello, my name is Jes and I'm addicted to video games and game collecting. (sounds of everyone chiming "Hello Jes...")

I've been collecting video games off and on for over ten years, though my collection was stolen a few years back (including Panzer Dragoon Saga and most of the TG16 CD Games  :'( :'( :grrr: :grrr:) and I've just in the last few years gotten back to a 'respectable' collection (hopefully I'll get to replace PDS and some of the Duo Stuff one day...)

I live near Erie, PA and once ran a little mom and pop game chain called Endless Entertainment.  I now work a day or two a week at GameStop :evilsad: just to stay in touch with the industry (and discount.)  I mainly stay at home and raise my two sons, one of which is less than two weeks old :D

Still uploading my collection piece by piece, not looking forward to putting in all my NES/SNES/Gen stuff (my favorite part of my collection, and about 1800+ pieces together) but I'll get there, with time.

I'm not really a 'l33t' collector, as most of my cartridge collection is just the cart (good labels, of course) except Sega Gen, because those old plastic boxes actually last.  99.99% of my cd/dvd games are complete, though, and I've got a few nice additions I'm mildly proud of. 

Lots of peeps come and hang out at our pad and in any given weekend we'll tear up anything from pong to Halo.  We just play to have fun.  My gamertag is also Slackur, but due to the eratic nature of househusbandry, I have it set to "always appear off" so I can play for 15 minutes without responding to 20 messages  :razz:

Anyway, feel free to message me just to chat, though I can go for awhile without checking so please be patient :P

And as for pictures of my collection, while about 65% is out and on display, we're house hunting, so hopefully in another year or two we'll have a Room 'o' Doom to show off.  Someday... 8)

Yeah, the good ol' C64 was the first game machine "ahem, computer" I cut my teeth on.  Nothing like a good game of Necromancer, Crossroads I and II, Threshold, BC Quest for Tires/Grog's Revenge, Sabotuer, Standing Stones, etc...ah, memories :drool:

Hello to all the new people I missed.  Slackur, the C64 ruled!  I loved that system, err computer.  The Vic-20 is where I started out, though.  I love the 5 adventure games they had!

My name is Mike and I'm coming to you live from the province of Nova Scotia! I was originally born in New York State where I was brought up in a fairly conservative, anti-gaming family. However some of my fondest early memories are from visits to my Uncles where I would spend the entire visit on his NES. I wasn't allowed any games however, and remember hitting up classic games like RE Lee Civil War General and Lords of Magic in my youth (two of my favourite all time games)
Later on in my mid-teens, and when I was living Nova Scotia, I convinced my mother to let me purchase a Sega Genesis at a yard sale. Of course, I was hooked. After a half a year of excessive nagging, and money saving, I purchased my first new console, a beautiful PS2 slim. Even though newer games were fun, I found myself consistently downloading roms for old NES and SNES games, particuraly RPGs.
Now that I have moved out and started my first year of college, I have started collecting NES games. After a bit over a half a year of collecting, I now sport roughly 150 NES games. Currently my list is in semi-outdated state, but I have been meaning to, and will, update it and post it soon.
I look forward to trading and talking to you all, and hope I'll frequent this as much as nesforums!

Nice to hear from a fellow Maritimer. Video Game collectors are hard to come by in the maritimes, though I have made contact with a few "hardcore" enthusiasts, but only in Halifax. The largest collection I've seen locally was around 400 games, and that was purely NES. Despite the lack of open collecting, there must be a few who remain little contact with other local collectors, and people seem to buy up any games before I get half the chance.

Yeah I know a few other semi-serious collectors in our region but not many. Since there is so little to be found in the wild most have to use eBay like a crutch but that means more often than not US games instead of Canadian ones.

Last time I hunted for games in Halifax it felt like sharks picked the bones clean of every store I went too, best results I got was from Value Village in Bayer's lake but even that was disappointing.

 I'm not strictly any type of system collector but I search mostly for Nintendo NES, but I have Atari and Coleco Vision as well.
  Since we're on more of a tight budget with the economy taking a crap, I'm looking to do more trading and less buying. But, If you got it and I need it...I'll probabley buy it anyway. Lol

 Im a 23 year old collector. I havnt really focused on completing a collection for any system in particular (yet). I mainly just get games that appeal to me for anything from NES to PS3. Not really anything before NES even though I have a few Magnavox Odyssey games (I dont even know where they came from). I did however grow up with Nintendo so I do have a slight Bias for the NES/SNES/N64.

I live in Northern Canada and have very little access to any retro gaming stores with the exception of a few local pawn shops. Im a huge Judas Priest fan and if anyone wants to chat old-school metal or games im up for both. I've been collecting quite regularily the last few years but it might slow down to a crawl this year because of an expanding family and possibly a new home.

I'm Kev, 35, from the UK.  I've been collecting now for about 15 years.  My collecting leans towards low prices rather than quality so the majority of my collection is sourced from local boot sales, charity shops and the retro bargain bin of the local game stores.  Collecting on a budget also means that completing a collection for a particular system is usually an unreachable goal, so I'm content with spreading myself thin over multiple system.

In addition to console gaming I am an avid pen & paper roleplayer and board game player.

Hi, I found this site when I was looking at other classic game sites, and found some links here. I was looking for an online collection cataloging tool. I was disappointed with IGN, especially since they changed it a couple years ago. Ideally I want something like Boardgamegeek.com, but for video games. I figure once I've used this a bit, I'll post a ton of suggestions of what I like that BGG does in your collection forums, those guys have really nailed the game collector website, but theirs is dedicated for board games.

Hello everyone! My name's Jake and I'm 27.  I was born in upstate NY, grew up in Cincy, OH (so I like my Skyline!), moved to Houston after completing my Chem E degree and am now in Muscat, Oman (on a temporary work assignment - Al slam Aluikum to all my arab friends out there). 

While I'm on assignment most of my gaming collection is in storage in Houston (think the end of the Raiders of the Lost Ark). As you may expect the gaming scenes not real big in Oman, but periodically get care packages sent in to keep me up to date. 

I found this site while looking to see if there was a sequel to the Video Game Bible - great guide. I've never tried to complete a full collection for a system but do have most systems and few gaming jems.  I'm more into it for the experience so if someone say's you have to try such and such a game, I usually seek it out - for example Snatcher (play it - it's great).

Well, here we go. My name's Julian, and I'm from Aschaffenburg, Germany, a nice city in the state of Bavaria, near the border to the state of Hesse (Hessen in German).
I'm 21 years old, and currently, I am about to finish the final exams called "Abitur", which is somewhat similar to a high school diploma or the associate degree of a US college; and it's the best school-leaving certificate you can possibly receive here. My exams consisted of written examinations in English, History and Mathematics as well as an oral examination in Spanish, with my specialisations being English and History.
The languages I am capable of understanding and speaking are German, English, French and Spanish - well, and perhaps Latin, too, but I doubt that I could actually speak Latin, since all we've been doing for the last couple of years were translations into German, so I think that I can at the very least understand a text written in Latin.

The last two years in my life have been rather complicated and pretty sad, if you will. Until early 2006, everything was just fine. I received good marks at school, I overcame my shyness and made more friends, and I had a beautiful and kind girlfriend. But then, in April 2006, my dear father suddenly died one Saturday morning, most likely because of an embolism in his lungs which caused a heart attack that killed him instantly. I could only find him lying in the bathroom, dead, and there was nothing I could have possibly done for him except for calling the ambulance and my mom...perhaps you can imagine that it was quite traumatizing, and ever since then, I've been suffering from terrible depressions that are still bothering me to an extent. My marks at school worsened, I lost my girlfriend, and life just seemed dark to me. To add insult to injury, I almost died myself earlier this year, because of an embolism in my lungs, too. I actually went to school for an entire week in this condition, and the doctors told me that I was lucky to have survived. At least, though, I am beginning to feel better again, mainly due to some of my beloved hobbies. ^^

You won't be surprised to hear that collecting video games is among my treasured past times, even though my collection is still rather small - after all, I only began collecting consciously a while ago, even though I've been playing video games ever since 1993.
My favorite genre definitely is the Japanese RPG, and while my favorite among them is difficult to pick, I have to settle for Grandia - a magical experience for me, and one of my first RPGs. But except for First Person Shooters, tactical shooters or American Sports (sorry, but as a German, soccer is my passion. ^^), I am open for every genre.
Apart from video games themselves, I also like to collect old video game magazines, with my favorite being "MAN!AC", the oldest German video game magazine that still exists (ever since 1993) - btw, their bonus DVDs are terrific, combining serious reviews with a great sense of humor, and of course, there are some cool specials as well, i.e. a monthly video game "hall of shame" (for instance, their NeoGeo hall of shame consists of Andro Dunos, Power Spikes 2 and The Legend of Success Joe).
Apart from that, I also have a passion for soccer (my favorite club is "Eintracht Frankfurt", though I also have a keen interest in international soccer, for example qualifying campaigns for World Cups or European Championships of the past, or even the African Cup of Nations) as well as for movies, since my dad had a huge collection of DVDs and VHSs (several thousand, I'd say), and for some reason, I have this weird interest in bad movies, which is why I love "Mystery Science Theater 3000" (best.show.ever. next to the Simpsons and South Park, of course). My favorite franchise definitely is Star Wars, and I have to say that I practically love all 6 of them equally and for what they are, and for having provided me with countless hours of fun and escapism, and I admire George Lucas for having realized his vision.
Lastly, I have a great interest in history, specifically the 19th century/early 20th century, and the Prussian Empire in particular (the most fascinating historical figure, by the way, is - in my opinion - Emperor Wilhelm II. of Prussia...I even held a 45 minute presentation about him at school, which earned me mark A ^^).

Whew, sorry if that was a bit too long, but sometimes, I can't seem to keep things short...ahem. ^^

One of my great (or great-great) grandfathers was a stowaway from Frankfurt am Main. I have a pretty large interest in German culture and German immigration to my hometown. (Cincinnati was one of the major centers of German Immigration in the 19th Century).

Sorry to hear about your losses in the last few years. 2006 was a bad year for me as well. I lost one of my better friends (http://www.rfgeneration.com/PHP/about.php?action=memorial), my grandfather, and my mom. I hope bright days lie ahead for you.

Hey, my name's Collin, I'm from Lawrenceburg, TN, a VERY small town in Tennessee, I was born and raised here, still in high school,  (oh yeah, im 15). I joined this site on New Years Day of this year because its a site of people who share the same passion for classic video games that i do.

I have a sort of decent collection, starting exactly a year ago when i bought my first NES, and now i have that, a SNES, Genesis, and a 2600. Thats pretty much all i can think of for now.

Yes, it is!  Not only do I realize there are people as crazy (and crazier) as me about collecting these, BUT it's also got a brilliant tracking system so that I now have a list of everything I have at my fingertips.  'tis good for keeping a disorganized person like myself organized.

Hi, I'm Game Freak (yes i did steal the name from Pokemon.)  The name suits me quite well.  I'm 15.  My family has 517 video games.  429 of them are mine.  I have Atari 2600, TRS-80, NES, Genesis, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, GameCube, Wii, Game Boy, GB Pocket, GBColor, GBA, GBA SP, GB Micro, and a Nintendo DS.  Now i understand you guys are going to say "why not refer us to your collection?"  WEll, its because i have not finished adding the collection, and i dont really care to x_x i already spent 2 years working on my collection by myself. first two versions in Word, then in Excel, and now in Access.  I hope to make many friends here.  And no, i am NOT a Nintendo fanboy.  I hate Nintendo's business model today, WiiWise.  I dont get many of todays games cause they're just too darn expensive.  Yes, I do have Brawl, no Im not Brawling anyone.  I do not like Brawl that much, i think Melee is better.

Hi, I'm Tom, 19 years old, from Belgium.

I've played videogames since I was about 5 years old. First game I played was Castle Wolfenstein 3D, it came with our computer...I liked it but I was scared of the dogs  :D

I played videogames through most of my youth but my parents were a big limiter of the amount of games I could have/play.
My first console was a PS2 (shame), my parents refused to give me a console until then, so I could only play on the PC or at friends.

Recently I've "discovered" eBay and grew an interest in retrogames. I have an Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Sega Master System, Sega Mega Drive (all bought this year) and of course a PS2. I'm not sure how many games I have, but I'm guessing it's around 100-120. Lately that number has been expanding rapidly because of all those cheap games you can find on eBay.

Anyway, that's enough for an introduction of myself, I think...

I see you're collecting N64 (in your signature). How many more games till you have them all? And how many N64 games are there, actually?

Well, I'm at about 12% complete, and there are about 300 or so games, including variants.  :P

I'm also going for a CIB 7800 collection.

That's still quite a long way to go, you have like 35 N64 games. More than me though, I don't have any :P But that'll change...The next console I'm buying will probably be a N64.

What's your favorite console? (just a question :))

My personal favorite would be the Sega Genesis/CD/32X combo. I consider it one console (just kidding!)  :laugh:

I don't have a favorite, but my top 5 in no order are Genesis, NES, 7800 (Because that's a 2600 & 7800, backwards compatibility rocks!!), Sega CD, and SNES. But I like pretty much all consoles. Another great console is the PS2. But the N64 is a relatively easy console to collect for and so is the 7800, because of it's small library of games.

I see. But yeah, getting all games for PS1 or PS2 must be really hard.

Right now I'm not really collecting any games. I'm trying to get my hands on all the consoles I want (which are basically all major consoles, so no stuff like the NeoGeo) After that, I'll probably look for the best titles on each system, before I'd consider getting ALL games for one system. :)

I should probably introduce myself formally; I found this forum via a link from another site (I can't for the life of me remember what it was) after trying to find a collection organizing tool.  I fell in love the moment I started to create my collection here.

I've really just started 'collecting' this year; although I've had many consoles when I was younger (atari(s), nes, snes, n64, gamecube, genesis 1, genesis 2, saturn, ps1, ps2 -- wow, my mom was AWESOME!)) I had sold them all as "I would never play them again".  I really REALLY regret my decision so I'm trying to get back to where I was although it will never really be the same.  I have a smaller collection with mostly 'next-gen' consoles/games (including the stupid Wii which I regret buying) but am working backwards slowly.

I plan on sticking around here and hope to bring a few friends over from other forums as everyone here seems to be helpful and full of good deals!

Hey Ryan, I also learnt the hard way you should never sell of your system, even if at the time or for a while after it feels like you'll never play them again. Because in truth, they'll never make games like those again and some time down the track you'll regret it.

I like the fact that this forum has a great emphasiz on collecting aside from purely playing games. I am kind of a nostalgic person myself (everything was better X-number of years ago :P) so it's nice to find a forum where history has a place too, instead of focussing so hard on what's to come.

Today I realised I've sold my original Game Boy. Not the end of the world you might think, but it was the (ugly!) Manchester United edition, which seems to be "rare". How rare, I've got no idea. Still a bit sad that it's gone :(

Yeah, I also got another Saturn later on but like Ryan said, despite making a sizeably large collection to try beat out my old one I had sold it didn't have the same feeling. I also regret ever selling the Sega Nomad.

DuncanR2N, I'm in Atlanta, GA.  I've been collecting for a few years.  Back in the nineties it was strictly PC games but I've since branched out into consoles.  As a result my collection is very PC heavy (about half of my titles) but I've been slowly going back and acquiring older titles whenever I can.

I wound up here via Gamespot.  Love the collection tools.  I'm still in the process of update my collection here but I have close to 1000 titles (roughly 980ish as of right now) but it will take some time to enter all that into here.  This looks like a good place for a guy like me.

Holy crap! I'm going to Atlanta this friday for 2 weeks! Any good classic game stores that I can check out down there?

I'm Cass (aka TGL) from Manchester, UK.

Been gaming since I was about three, my first console was a NES but I also played a lot of PC games from a very early age. I used to own a splendid Commodore Plus/4 as well, which sadly died many moons ago. I've been actively collecting (so far as my wallet will allow) for about 4-5 years, starting with NES games but branching out to cover more platforms.

Currently got just under 500 games, covering PC, NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, GameCube, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, GameBoy, GB Color, GB Advance, DS and PSP.  Yeah, no Sega. Yet...

Favourite games tend to fall into the RPG/adventure and shooter genres, but I like a little of everything.

Like my good friend DuncanR2N I was also lured here from GameSpot. I have to say the collection tools here are much nicer :)

You and DuncanR2N will no doubt also find if there is any game this site doesn't already have, it is easy to submit it and will probably be up within 46 hours unlike a lot of other sites.

Don't worry about swamping us, we have a whole team who can approve these. In fact we've nearly hit 3000 submissions in July which is an average month. If it takes a few days to approve them, It's because of the time of year with summer vacation and other commitments and all. :)

Yeah I've already started with the submissions.  It looks like when I get to the PC games I'll be adding a bunch there as well.

I've probably got a bunch of images that I can submit as well once I get around to it.

If you submit over 50 things in one month, you also get your name on the front page. Its a nice little 'thank you' from the staff that really shows that you did make a difference. Everyone does, even if the have 1 submission.  :)

Hey all, I'm Zerger from Bedfordshire in the UK. Been wanting to join a site like this for a while and have decided to start getting more into collecting again, being only 16 with little time on my hands I rarely gather much money let alone enough to satisfy my gaming needs, but I keep going nonetheless. I have around 25 consoles by the looks of it and Sega consoles and games are more my thing, though i have plenty of others that i haoppily buy games for. No true goals as of such at this time, just a nice big collection of games with the odd few I look out for more than others.

Just make sure you read the submissions FAQ first (http://www.rfgeneration.com/PHP/submitinfo.php?action=faq) and have the games nearby when you do submissions because you need the Part Number or UPC for everything you submit :)

Hi, I'm Ga5ket from Nottinghamshire, UK. I'm employed as a programmer, and married with 3 kids, all girls. Consequently I don't have a big pot of money to spend on games, but that doesn't stop me trying. I have a very understanding wife, who also games, but doesn't collect. I used to be a Sega fan-boy until Sony stole me away. I'm just rediscovering the joys of the Dreamcast, although I tend to have a pack-rat mentality as far as games & consoles are concerned. I want them all!

I just bought 4 games earlier tonight and found that Mass Effect for PC wasn't listed so I made that my first submission. I had the box handy so the UPC wasn't hard. Most of my boxes are in another city right now so most of my additions will have to wait.

That's great. Did you find the Part Number, too? It's usually somewhere on the side of the box, or the back. It can also be on a the cartridge for cartridge-games. For a Playstation game, this is for example: SLES 54271.
Try to fill in both, the more fields filled in when doing the title addition, the better :)

The only two numbers I found were the ISBN number and the barcode number. I put the ISBN in for the part number and the barcode in for UPC.

No problem. Sometimes they can be hard to find. Then it's better to just leave one or the other open :)
You can also edit an entry which has been made in the past if a field is missing or a something's wrong. You'll see that alot of entries don't have their Part Number or UPC yet, because you didn't need to enter them in the past. Feel free to edit any of those and submit the Part Nr./UPC if you have the games :)

The bar code is great, almost any game or piece of hardware will have one.
Don't stress too much if you can't find a part number, sometimes they can be hard to find and  a lot of products don't even have one.

Hi All, I'm Phil, (from Nottingham, UK) - (36) married, 2 kids..

been gaming since playing Race Driver  at a neighbours in the late 70s. Love videogames but seem to enjoy reading about them / collecting them more than playing them at the moment.

If anything I'm Nintendo fan but also rate the 360 - have a bit of downer on the PS3 - not been too impressed with it so far. I love the style of Japanese games as I think these were more prevelant in the SNES area.

Owned lots of different systems but the Golden Age of gaming was the early 90s - mainly thinking of the SNES. Just started collecting and done a couple of bulk purchase on ebay for a US SNES and a US N64 with a good selection of games - this has not gone down well with the wife but think it was worth it.

Also recently acquired Secret of Mana - started playing this last night - seems good so far - trying to look past the dated graphics and get a feel for the game.

Collecting goals - seem to want to buy everything but focused on games I owned and sold along with top 25 SNES and N64 games.

Goal for end of the year is to pick up a copy of Chrono Trigger and complete it and maybe try and play some of these other games I've already purchased. Want to have a collection that gets played.

Also, love this website - great way of maintaining collection and reading about games etc. Also it's not banned at work like most other game related websites.

Chrono Trigger is one of the best RPG's ever. Sadly, I haven't played it either :( mainly because it hasn't been released in Europe and I should get a US SNES.

The database standards for part/UPCs that require them for verification, only apply to hardware items not games. Don't get me wrong, they are very much welcomed for game submissions as well, but only hardware submissions will be questioned if they don't have them.

The main reason is that for every game system, there are multiple companies who make items such as accessories, controllers etc. In order for us to differentiate and prevent duplicates, we need unique information to the item in question. That way we know whether it's already in the database under a different name or not.

Games hardly if ever get duplicated, but one member's Dual Shock 2 [Clear Green] submission, could be a duplicate of another's Dual Shock 2 [Emerald] and the only way to tell if they are both unique or one a duplicate will be it's part number or UPC.

In the odd instances that a hardware item doesn't have either for whatever reason, a picture can be used as a substitute as long as the staff know via PM or post before the submission is submitted so we can approve it. As I mentioned earlier, only required for hardware not games.

My game backlog is starting to rival my anime backlog which I should probably find some way to catalogue that also. I'm a programmer or hopefully will be after this last year of college. Currently stuck on Atlus games which basically guarentees that my backlog of anything shall suffer. Nice to meet everyone!

That may be a new security measure recently toward newer members to reduce the collecting of email address for SPAM, I'm sure it'll come good eventually.

We had some assholes ruin the fun for everyone regarding the profiles who were harvesting email addresses. The restriction to view profiles only exists for Tiger Gizmondo / Guests, which after 10 posts you become an N-Gage where the profile restriction no longer exists. That said, the new version of SMF should eliminate the need for this restriction.

Shame isn't it? Just like with everything, you always have the few that ruin it for the rest.

It sure is.

But it's also a sneaky little way in luring more people into the forum,  :P. If they have to post 10 times to get the restriction lifted, they might get hooked and stay active :D

I am a huge sega, even though i admit im very careful buying the newer games with the sega name on it now.

I've been visiting here and using the database for awhile now, and I realized I've never used the forums yet. Figured now is as good a time as any!

I'm a psych major from Brooklyn, New York, and I do Windows, Linux/Unix, and Mac tech work on the side. I also fix game consoles and other hardware... I'll basically give anything you throw at me a shot at repair. I'm self-taught.

I've been gaming since the NES, followed by the Genesis and the Game Boy, but my real collecting took off with my Dreamcast in 2001. That's right, I went from 16-bit to 128-bit. Since then I've gotten a relatively sizable collection (which I still don't have completely in the system yet). I enjoy platformers and RPG's most I suppose, but I basically play everything but sports and MMORPGs (the former due to lack of interest and the latter mainly due to lack of time). My favorite game is Skies of Arcadia for the Dreamcast/Gamecube, with the Metroid series a close second, followed by Phantasy Star Online, the Sonic the Hedgehog series, Team Fortress 2, and Combat for the 2600 (Best multiplayer game ever!).

Hello everybody, I'm 26yo and from MA.  I've been comming here to keep a list of all my games and systems in the My Collection database.  I've got all the big systems from atari 2600 to PS3.  I also have some of the obscure systems such as 3DO, Jaguar, TG16, and even Vectrex.  My rarest game is probably Swordquest: Waterworld for Atari 2600 (unless you count the Deadspace Ultra Limited bundle, but I don't quite count that), and my favorite games are Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Persona 3 (just started 4), and Final Fantasy X.  I mainly collect for Sega Saturn because I'd like to have a full set someday.  I'm not too far off but I only really buy them when I find them in the wild, so it slowly builds up.  I also post at the digital press forums under mailman187666 in case anybody has seen me post over there.  I figured why not and may start also posting here.  So anyways, whats up?

I'm Tatton and I'm 28 and from Ohio.  I've also been using the site for a while to track my collection, but recently I've been reading the messages on the forum for a bit and this seems like a fun community.  I don't really have any one specific thing that I collect, but I do enjoy tracking down imports.  My favorite consoles are the Saturn, Turbo Grafx/Duo, and the DS.  My favorite game series has got to be Bomberman, though it's hard to pick a favorite.  I enjoy playing RPGs, shmups, 2D fighting games, and Bemani rhythm games.

In fact I am actually pretty much a grammar nazi! But sarcastically so. Somehow. You might learn what I mean eventually. My posting styleee is pretty distinct. Which could be good or bad depending on how individualistic you are! But since this is the internet I assume that you won't care either way and I will assert my dominance over you with fists of steel, possibly.

Oh god I could go on for hours about me. Because I have a big ego. Yet I'm also self-defeating and therefore am a paradox.

I make music, possibly. Also I love movies. And music, possibly. And webcomics and the internet and okay I'm a generic geek possibly.

Some music I like is Kupek, Gorillaz, New Order, Freezepop, Beck, Bjork, Blur, DJ Shadow, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Daft Punk, Justice, and a lot of others

Some movies I like are anything by Michel Gondry, Little Miss Sunshine, Speed Racer and most Pixar movies. And Persepolis. Did I mention I like animation to an unhealthy degree?

Some webcomics I like are Dr. Mcninja, Rice-Boy, Dresden Codak, and Templar Arizona. And Gunnerkrig Court and XKCD. and stuff

I also draw. Frequently. Whether it's good or not is up to you.

I just realized that I've yet to introduce myself. So, without further ado...

I'm 24 years old, and I hail for the Cornhusker state, Nebraska in the USA. I enjoy writing, my gaming stuff is here on the site in my blog, and I'm also a gamer and collector, which should be obvious since I'm here. I've been gaming since I was 5, got my first NES in '89, and I've been hooked ever since. I spend a bulk of my time playing RPGs and fighting games, but I enjoy most any genre of game. Outside of gaming, I'm into anime and manga, and I enjoy reading and watching TV, I'm not really much of a movie guy though.

I think that's about it, without delving into my back story anyway, but I wouldn't want to bore anyone.

Hi kids! it's me, Fred the Fop, with a smoky, sweet persona, here to add a little sparkle and Richard Simmonsness to this darling little forum!!
I just love those cute consoles from the 80's and early 90's. I was an original Mattlel Intellivision and Atari VCS in 1980. From then on, I have been hooked. In 1997 I found out about emulation, but did not get a computer until late 1999. A used but maxed out and bad-ass Apple Powerbook 540 PPC.
Sadly it died and I had to build a new Windows PC with help from a pal. Now I have been back to Mac since early 2006 and never looked back. Here's to continuing our quest for finding old games, new homobrews, and little gems here and there!

My name is Tim but for some reason I forgot I prefer to be called Gamepopper on the internet. I live in Warwickshire, UK and currently a final year GCSE student (so year 11).

I first played video games on an old Coleco Telstar that my mum got at a Charity shop back when I was around 5, she gave it back to the charity shop for some odd reason  ???. I later got what was known as a Superjoy II, this pirated game system that had 50 games and resembled an N64 controller without the analog stick, my favourite game on it was Gradius but I was better than my sister, who was a year and a half older than me. I also played on a Sega Mega Drive, playing Golden Axe at a friends house (he still has it :P). I was really into video games when I got an N64 for christmas (I was 7 so you could say I was a british N64 kid :D) and used to play Mario Kart 64, Zelda OoT and Majora's Mask (which was gold), Super Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie (don't know why I didn't get Banjo Tooie).

I didn't consider myself a retro gamer until last year, where I got a Wii for my birthday (lucky me ;)) I was playing alot of gaming classics and some I've never had a go at. I eventually got myself a retro system, MEGA DRIVE!!! Now I'm a collector, of Mega CD games!

Hello, I'll introduce myself now that I'm a member of this great site and forum:

My name's Nick, I am 18 years old, I live in Hobart, Australia and I have just recently started a BVC (Bachelor of Visual Communications) at UTAS Art School.

I didn't go 'retro' in my video games 'till 2007 (grade 11) when in April if i remember i Bought a NES from ebay, then a Mega Drive in June, then another NES (complete and in mint cond. Action Set, so awesome) in June/July) Then a SNES in Early 2008. I originally had a SNES from the age of 8 to 12, but I gave it away to a friend who's Mum soon gave it away to someone else. Man i was pissed! Though it's my fault for giving it away in the first place >_>

There's nothing to comprehend. On a forum, where the only means of communication is the written word, proper grammer is a basic sign of respect towards your fellow posters. Assuming you're sitting infront of a computer/laptop, you have a decent keyboard at your desposal which allows for easy access to all capital letters. When you're here, you're probably not playing a game either, so there's no need to rush things.

I have absolutely nothing against you personally, I just wouldn't like to read things like "i kno but u said 2 me wht he thinks is cool and cuz u think its cool i think so too." :)

That example you gave was an exaggeration and also, I realized it's "grammar" not grammer. Do you think we can stop now?

I think we can. And thanks for correcting me, it's not always easy to write everything correctly, for a person that didn't grew up speaking English like myself. Luckily for me, this site is filled with native English speakers. My English vocabulary is expanding daily. :)

Doesn't the German school system teach English? even though it's the Oxford version?

I live in Belgium, but yes English is a course during highschool. It only starts in the 3rd year of our highschool though, which is age 14-15.

It wasn't too bad, but there's absolutely no comparison between being brought up in a language and studying it in textbooks two hours per week.

Despite the classes, I must honestly say I've learned most of my English through the TV when I was younger. Unlike many of Belgium's neighboring countries (German or France would be good examples), Belgium TV doesn't dub series and films that are originally in English. Instead, we only get subtitles. I think it's a great thing though, because it allows for the viewers to learn the actual languages instead of hearing (horrible) dubbings in their own language. :)

I'm Dirk I'm 28 and from Freiberg Germany. I started playing and collecting video games just after the german reunification. It was the Atari 2600. Later I continued with Sega Master System and a lot of PC-Stuff. After a long break I restarted collecting and playing video games in 2005. I started with the Nintendo 64 and since 2007 I began my complete Master System Collection (which still is missing 48 european games and alot of oversea ones).

During the last year alot of Consoles joined my Collection first of all Nintendo DS and Wii, as well as alot of older ones: 3DO, CD-I, Mega Drive, Sega CD, Gamemate, Game Master and Game Gear. And this was the time where I found RF Generation (while searching for a site to track my collection).

I really like collect every console and every game and I'm a very "pedantic" collector too, because every small cover variation has to be in my collection.
And I'm collecting and repairing old GDR computers.

Beside collecting the most time is working at university (hope I get my Ph.D. one day).

I'm 23 and I come from England. Sadly don't have very many interests though due to well a lot of things cause me stress.

More of a player (and not a good one either) than a collector, just happens to have a collection ever since I've been playing games since I was about 8 years old with the Mega Drive, maybe even older than that if I can remember playing in the arcades. I found this site by someone called SuperYoshi who is one of the admin staff on a forum, either him or ApolloBoy linking their profile and it does seem like a nice system to list and organise which games that you have.

First time I registered here then a couple of days later the hack happened, waited until it came back up, re-registered and then it disappeared the next day so 3rd time lucky I suppose.

Sorry about the outage, Furnessly. The second time your registration disappeared was due to an unforseen issue in a change that was made to the database, and we didn't have a backup done between the time the site was fixed and you registered that day. :/

I strictly collect games, no games I own are for sale/trade, I only sell doubles of games/systems locally. I plan on passing my collection down to my children (If I ever have any) My main goal was to collect games for nostalgic reasons but I have somehow amassed way more than I intended to collect for. I love to hunt down games of high value and purchase them for next to nothing. My favorite console is the Sega Genesis. My favorite games are Sonic 2 and Conker's Bad Fur Day

Hi my name is Andrew.  I'm 20 years old and I'm from Kentucky.  I recently got into seriously collecting retro games and I'm having a great time with it.  I don't have a favorite console, but I'm especially fond of the 16 bit consoles. I'll collect anything cartridge based.  I'm sure I'll branch out into the earlier disc-based systems but right now the Genesis is so much fun.  I'm attempting to complete my 32x collection and have a very good start.

My name is Michael, I'm enjoying my second marriage of 3 years, and I currently live in Moberly, Missouri.  While I no longer have most of them (would sell off old to gain new), I have had most consoles from the Atari 2600 to PS3.  I have also had a few console computers from the Timex Sinclair 1000, Color Computer 3, Atari 800, Atari 520 ST, Apple IIc, and I still have and use an Atari XEGS.  The only console I have not found yet is a Vectrex and a few others that are out of my reach like SNK consoles.  I am currently attending college for an Associate's Degree in Web Design and Interactive Media through the Art Institutes of Pittsburgh which I'm fixing to start my 4th year this summer.

My current collection consists of mainly hardware:  3 XBOX'es, 4 PlayStations (One is a PSOne), NES, N64, Sega Dreamcast, Atari 2600 Jr, Atari 5200, Game Boy Advance, GameCube and a 360 (rescued from the RRoD and found in the dumpster to our building).  We are currently concentrating on locating Atari consoles and games that we don't yet have.

My favorite games are listed below by systems we have.

Atari 2600:  Vanguard, Space Invaders, Asteroids
Atari 5200:  Star Raiders, Galaxian, Q-Bert, Qix
NES:  PinBot, Guardian Legend, Zanac, Life Force, Castlevania (series), Blaster Master

PS2:  Gran Turismo Series, Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero & 3, Final Fantasy X

That's pretty much it I think.  Hopefully a classic gaming expo-style event will find its way into my area someday.  But I'm not holding my breath.

Hi all, my name is Shaun I’ve been lurking here and using the collection tracking program here for a while now. I’ve been meaning to add more stuff to the database but seems like I can never find the time. I’ve mostly gone to Digital Press to post and I’ve wanted to start posting here but once again time seems to be my down fall so with DP down I’m making my first post. Hopefully this will give me the incentive to divide my time better or find more time.

Anyway, I’m a visual collector if I see something at a good price or I want to play it I’ll buy it even if I have no way to play it and I’ll start collecting for whatever it is after. That’s how I got started with the TurboGrafx-16, I had two systems and a Turbo Booster way before I even seen a game for it. I guess that’s why I like sites like RF and DP, they’re more about collecting in general than collecting for a specific company or era. So I hope I will be a more active member here from now on.

I found this site via the Famicom World forums and thought what a good way to keep track of my collection ^^ I was always intrested in older games (my first console was a 2600) and never got rid of my older consoles when i got a newer one. But it really took off when I got better job few years ago and I was finally able to afford some of the more obscure stuff I only could dream of^^

Hi everyone. Name's Brett. I have been collecting for about 7 years now, and have only just discovered this site from listening to the collectors podcast on youtube. I am currently living in Japan attending college and am spending a lot of my spare time either hunting for video games, or try to play some Japanese game that I've picked up and figuring out what everything in it means. When I first came to Japan last year I decided to start work on a complete Wonderswan bw/colour game collection. Currently I have got about 90 games out of about 200 total games released for the system. Most of which I bought without needed to go and waste money in Akihabara. I hope to try to collect as many of them as possible before I return home to America in August this year. I've got a decent knowledge of games only released in Japan, and actually just spent almost all day today adding games to the sites database, quite a few Wonderswan games were missing, and a couple Wii and DS games I picked up while here.

So far I've liked what I've seen on this site so far, and hope to contribute in any ways i find possible.

I am not sure if I introduced myself or not as I didn't see anything posted from me here.  So I will introduce myself even if I did it already before.

My name is Michael and I've been a video gamer since 1979.  I was born in 1974 and still remember mom having to hold me up to some of the arcade units I wanted to play.  Unlike so many like myself, my first console was not the 2600...it was the 5200 which I still have and play to this day.  As a matter of fact, that's my 5200 in my avatar.  I enjoy any gaming console but take particular interest in Atari & Sega consoles.  The 5200 remains my all-time favorite but I am also a sucker for pre 1985 consoles (ColecoVision, Intellivision, Vectrex, etc.). 

My passion for games has led me to become a contributing member to Retrocade Magazine all the while attending Art Institute of Pittsburgh's Online Division to obtain a degree in web design and interactive media.  When I am not playing games, working on magazine articles or assignments, I can be found creating my own video games using DarkBASIC Professional.  I am also studying the Atari 8-bits and 5200 as much as possible.

Outside of gaming, I also enjoy collecting: vinyl, VHS, Laserdisc & CED memorabilia.  It's amazing what can be found at Goodwill stores these days.  That's pretty much it.  Great work RFG!

so ive been on here for a month or so now, but i realize i hadnt posted here, and this should have been my first post! hah.

ok guys, the names Tim, and i hail from the great state of kentucky. ( your current national champions! ) I started collecting around 2003, built up an insanely nice collection and sold it off to help fund college. The hunger grew and finally i couldnt take it and i started collecting again early this year, and this time, my collection will never leave my side! I work midnights for the railroad, ( thought im just at a shop not out on the locomotives ) and i do my flea market hunting in southern ohio, western west virginia, and northern kentucky. the city i live in, ashland, is literally the tip of north east ky. its the tri state area, i can be in ohio or wv in 5 min either direction. If im not game hunting or gaming, i am golfing, playing hockey, playing music, or probably watching a movie because im a huge movie buff. i have over 15 TB of movies :)

I'm not really a hardcore collector, but do spend a lot of money I've got on games, artbooks, guides, figures & merchandise.

Hi, i'm ghostwarmen and I have been collecting for about 10 years now. It all started out with me playing my PlayStation I had ever since birth. Ever since then, I got an Xbox, Gamecube, and my dad's CIB NES out in the garage. After those 3, I became more interested in other consoles and other games, and that's when we reach this point, where my collection has grown considerably larger. My collection continues to grow, and with over 26 game consoles and 623 games, it astounds me the amount I have. Never thought I'd reach this point.

Looking forward to being a part of this site and sharing all of my finds.

Hey, name's Shawn. I live in Pennsylvania. I am 16, and although I am young I am nothing like today's youth. People say I am odd for liking the retro stuff, but I couldn't care less of what they think. I detach myself completely from current entertainment like music and television, because it all is terrible in my opinion. What is really funny is when someone asks me "did you hear that new song by Katy Perry", and I say "who?" I barely pay any attention to the current video games either, aside from Nintendo, and a few other companies. I like many types of music, but the new stuff just sucks.  :grrr: Frank Zappa, The Beatles, and Frank Sinatra are my favorites.  :D I play many games from yesteryear, but currently I only collect games from the Gameboy line. If my uncle decides to give me some of his old systems, I will defenitly begin collecting other titles.

Welcome Shawn. The classics definitely have their charm, and you'll find folks here that enjoy a little bit of everything. The Game Boy is a great little series of systems with some fun and unique games.

Welcome Shawn. You take the words out of my mouth as far as modern stuff is concerned. I still like modern stuff but in the past two years my like for classic stuff has skyrocketed at an alarming pace. I still get crap from people for liking older stuff, but you must respect the older stuff to appreciate the modern stuff. If people could appreciate where there modern stuff came from they would understand why we like the classics. Oh and yes modern music is horrible, damn auto-tuned talentless crap nowadays lol.

I really only began collecting games for the Gameboy, only owning 89 games for it now. The reason why I started, is because I barely get to play the consoles due to the fact that I have a one year old brother who happens to be the crankiest kid I have ever seen. But, it is all for the best, because without that bit of push, I would not have started collecting. :)


I in all honesty have NO idea who that is. You made me laugh when you mentioned that most of the members are disgustingly old, but if I were to choose, I would have been born in the 60's/70's so I could have lived through the golden age of video games.


All the mainstream artists are pandering to the lowest possible standard of music, all while putting forth the lowest possible amount of talent or effort. It is all about the glam, glitz, and looks rather than the music. My brother is good for that, if it is older than a few years, he ignores it and blows it off like is worthless. He gives nothing a chance. His arrogance will hurt him someday. But I digress, I know that everyone else has their opinion, and they have the right to like what they do. But imo it still sucks.

That is one upside to being my age. I have seen everything from the start, played it all the first time around, and still love it.

I'm almost 23 and sometimes I wish I was born in the 60s more because the music was better, the drugs flowed like wine, and the arcades were seedy and places to hook up with girls that you should probably protect yourself against.

But hey my first system was a SNES and 3 years later a PS1. I don't have as much experience as a good chunk on this forum but you can rest assured you're not the only jaded youth that feels an immense amount of contempt for his generation.

SirPsycho: You would also have to se all that disapere! :/ The arcades closing, the drugs beeing banned and the music turn...well yeah....Bieberish.

Been collecting retro videogames since 2003 and havnt stumbled upon this page before, weird. So i hope i will be able to list all my collection and all my selling/wanting. :)

The majority of my collection is based around Sega hardware and software, but i have my fair share of Nintendo, Neo Geo, Pc engine, Sony, Xbox and so on. :)

Went on a trip to Japan this January with a couple of nerd friends and omg....that was like heaven! Everyday i wake up in my bed at home im a little sad im not left over there. :/ Next time im gonna stay there for three months! :)

Hey everyone, I joined a little while ago but this is my first post!  I was actually turned onto this site by the RF Generation podcast, and this seems like a great community overall.

Years ago I had LOTS of vintage gaming systems (ranging from NES & Genesis up to GameCube & Dreamcast) I have since had to get rid of all but the Dreamcast and a couple games from each system.   :(   

What I want to do is start collecting for my favorite system, the N64.  From what I've seen in this forum, it's not such a hugely desirable system, but it has sentimental value.  I'm hoping to learn a lot from this community as I undertake this  :)

I would suggest you get to know a few of our members very quickly. We have at least 3-4 members trying for complete N64 collections, and they'll get you up to speed quickly with whatever you may want/need for N64. ;D

Hi Orzunoid, and welcome. Glad to hear that the podcast drew you over. N64 collecting seems to be picking up steam, so grabbing them before prices start shooting up is a great plan. As Shadow mentioned, there are some N64 folks around here, so jump into the forums and don't be a stranger!

I do believe that collecting for a system you have the most interest or nostalgic feelings for can keep your collection going strong for a quite some time and if your going for a complete collection I wish you luck. Should have tons of fun collection for the N64.

Personally the N64 is my most nostalgic Nintendo system to collect for as I have flagged tons of hours on that system back in the day. Too much GolenEye 007, Mario Kart and many more. Its my largest Nintendo collection I have. I think the thing that turns people off about the N64 is that it was that weird phase between 2d and 3d and it was cartridge based (Which I love). But it still had its strong titles none the less.

N64 is a fun system to collect for, there are lots of hidden gems and it's not overly difficult or expensive to go for a complete set, except a few titles. i'm one of those few going for a complete set too, including foreign exclusives...i really need to get back into it, it's been months since i've bought anything N64 :/

I know my friends and I logged weeks-worth of game time in both Perfect Dark and Goldeneye, but I had fun with Mario Kart 64 and Forsaken mostly on my own.  Also I used to spend hours fiddling around with a Gameshark I had for the system trying to find hidden stuff in Goldeneye and LoZ:OoT.  Unfortunately one of my college roomates broke it  :-\  Oh well, those were good times

Hi everyone, I finally found a great forum for the weird species I find myself part of: the video game collectors :)
I've grown up with the NES and SNES and after a few years of only pc gaming I returned to my roots of console gaming. I got into collecting by listening to the retronauts podcast a few years ago and I've been collecting ever since.
I live in the Netherlands and RPG's are my favourite genre, a combination which can suck because of region locking and a lack of RPG releases for PAL regions, compared to Japan and North America. Things have gotten better with the region locking and RPG releases now.
Collecting wise I've been all over the place and I have a lot of different systems now, I think adding my collection to the collection tool on the website will take me a day, but it's a great tool and worth the effort.
I don't come across a lot of retro games or systems in the wild and as such am forced to use ebay a lot. My best finds in the wild were a SNES with Mario Kart boxed for 10 euros at a second hand goods store and Link: The Faces of Evil for the Cdi for 1 euro.
Because I want to set a good goal for myself and get some structure in my collecting, I set the goal of collecting all US RPG's on the SNES, PS1 and a full PAL Sega Saturn set.
If anyone is looking for PAl exclusive games, let me know and I'll see if I can help. There are a few Dutch selling websites where these games regularly pop up.
I'm looking forward to get very jealous of all the great finds you guys are going to post on this forum :)

If you need any US-exclusive items for your set, let us know! Quite a few of us are willing to ship overseas, and would be interested in exchanging for PAL items (myself included).

I grew up with Atari 2600 then C64 onto SNES etc.... I never really collected video games but I frequented thrift stores a lot in the lat 90s and early 00s looking for 80s toys but when ever I found something video game related I'd pick it up.  Within the last two months I've been getting back into the video game side of collecting and have been hitting thrift stores almost daily and yard sales every weekend. It was nice having that stuff from old thrift store days to kinda give me an "insta-collection" to begin with.

Currently, I'm in the process of cataloging my collection and building a game room to display/play the stuff I find.

I'm different from most people in this hobby in that I'm not really coming at it from a nostalgic point of view. I certainly played some video games as a kid, but I doubt I ever would have garnered the label of "gamer". I even went several years without touching a game (2001-2008 or so). I started collecting on a whim. One day, I was looking up some random factoid on Wikipedia and somehow, I ended up reading about the video game crash of 1983. I was amazed by how little I knew about vintage gaming. I truly found it fascinating. . I started reading about games a lot and then started listening to vintage gaming podcasts and watching youtube videos. I eventually got to a point where I needed to see these things in person in order to satisfy my curiosity. That's when I began collecting.

I started off with really old systems, but then realized that I needed to go with slightly newer games if I wanted to convince friends to join me. I now have a pretty good base of 8 bit games and I'm working on adding to my 16-bit collection as much as I can.

My collection is far from large (or valuable) but it is eclectic. Shortly after starting to collect, my finances changed drastically, which limited how quickly I could grow my collection. I even had to sell my prized collectible (a Vectrex complete in box with the original packing foam). I still made a tidy profit on it, and it helped me pay rent (I bought it for $110 and sold it for $160 cash + store credit), but there isn't a day I don't regret selling it.

Sorry to hear you had to sell such a cool item :( I'm still searching for a Vectrex myself. Eclectic is a very good thing around these parts. I think its a great way to start out too since you never know what kind of niche you might fall into so its a good thing to explore a lot of different avenues in your collecting. Hi my name is Chico and I'm new to the forum.  I am currently a school teacher  who spends all his free time and money attempting to build a decent collection.  If I had to choose my favorite systems I would say the Ps1, gameboy advanced sp, and snes.  I am a fan of all types of games but currently I'm enjoying every Rpg the ps1 has to offer.  I look forward to meeting great people and learning a lot from this forum.

Welcome aboard Dechico2004. You'll find RF Generation to be a very great place to talk with game collecting folks, well that's why were here. If your gonna get into playing RPG's on the PS1 your journey will never end. That system is full of great RPG's and it may take a lifetime to complete them all. Great bang for the buck nowadays. I need to grab me some more PS! games. The system has too many great games that I grew up with. Have fun here Chico.

Hi, popping in here because why not? Seems like a nice place.

I work nights at a very easy and very boring job. It pays the bills and leaves me with enough disposable income to blow on crap I don't need like video games, comics, cds, movies, and other goodies.
