I'm usually eating when I check the boards so here we go:

Right now I'm eating a piece of goat cheese tart with black olive tapenade.

I just ate a Quaker Chewy Granola Bar. It wasn't very good. I would have much preferred a nice greasy breakfast of bacon, eggs and a bagel with cheese.

Quaker Apple crisp breakfast bar with some milk.

Scrambled eggs toast and suasage sounds great right about now :P

I ate a waffle!  Damn diet....One stinking waffle...

Sunbelt granola bars are better than chewey, give them a shot.

I think I've had those too. Nutra Grain bars too. none are all that satisfying.

I had some Capn Crunch for breakfast.

I got me some rye bagels with olive oil and lemon juice and some salt on top.

I just ate a Honey Nut Cheerios milk and cereal bar :)

I just had a very lack luctser 3 pieces of pizza. I am very dissapointed

It had sausage onions and mushrooms on it.
For some reason the guys decided to put on a layer of each on the pizza.
Unfortunately for me i don't like mushrooms or onions on pizza.

Two jacket potatoes and two home made scotch eggs. No salad or anything, just that. My dad is getting really half arsed with his cooking. Maybe he's trying to tell me something.

Some nice beer followed by Sainsbury's own vinegar tasting beer.

I had some Peeterman Artois beer Followed by Stella Artois, a random bottle of nice lager and now I'm on a bottle of cigarette flavoured beer. It's like drinking from an ash tray.

Had Jack Links beefjerky on my walk back from the convinience store and now that i am done i am eating a pizza hot pocket and sitting infront of the phosforus glow of CRT.

Grabbed a bag of snyder's of hanover pretzels and a pepsi.  I'm staring at my work computer enjoying some pretz and pepsi.

Eggs.

I went into the community centre to get out of the house and see people. The menu today was something-and-cumin-soup, vegetable curry, meat curry, and apple crumble. (Plus sandwiches, salads and jacket potatoes)

I decided to have the usual prawn and marie rose sauce sandwich. Something light and tasty but not too unhealthy. The person next to me had the vegetable curry, which actually looked quite nice.

I'll be working in the kitchen there tomorrow.

Just came back from a Spanish restaurant and ate like a king. =)

White rice, beans, salad, chicken and something else that I can't remember.

I went into the community centre for lunch where they had beef pasta bake with garlic bread and salad. It was a huge meal. It filled me up for the rest of the day so I haven't had any dinner.

Since I stopped drinking and dad hasn't been around to buy cakes and the like, I've lost 6lbs in two to three weeks. Not bad. In fact it's the 21st day since my last alcoholic drink. :)

I had BBQ potato chips, a snickers, and Lifesaver Gummies for dinner with a Dr. Pepper to chase it all down.

It was free (of nutrition).

BBQ chicken sandwich, BBQ chips, cherries and corn on the cob. I had a gatorade to drink.

Back from the pub. I had a night out for £9, which isn't bad. I got there and my friend bought me a coke. Then I had a barbecue chicken melt with salad, a jacket potato, and a coke for £6.49 which I paid for. Then another friend bought me another coke. Bus was £2.50 return.

35 days alcohol free!

Just finished a ham and pineapple pizza with a bit of extra cheese and puree. Then I had some strawberry and vanilla icecream with meringue chunks.

I'm still losing weight somehow. It must be the lack of constant alcohol nights. Nine weeks alcohol free! That must be a record since I started regularly drinking.

I just had a toasted breakfast muffin with two slices of processed cheese slices in the middle. Yummy.

Also, it's 4 months (19 weeks) since I had any alcohol.

Why do my mini Haribo packets only tear open from the bottom? I've always felt it was bad luck to open packets from the bottom side.

They supposedly have no artificial colours but they taste as fake as a chav's Burberry. They're still yummy and adictive, though.

Reese's Pieces

I went to the pub this evening where they had run out of all roast meals. So I had BBQ Chicken Melt - chicken breast, bacon, gouda and barbeque sauce with salad and a jacket potato. Then for pudding I had chocolate fudge cake with vanilla icecream.

I kind of pigged out a bit.

A black and bleu salad with a porter beer.  Good eats.

I just had some eel roll sushi. Good stuff.

Rubber Chicken meat balls in tomato sauce and a carrot. There is honestly nothing else at all in the house to eat apart from five year old tins of prawns in brine and mouldy chocolate spread.

Dad is back tonight so I expect the fridge will be stuffed full tomorrow.

4 egg omlette and hash browns

A sandwich.

White bread. Almost crispy back bacon. Grilled brie. A dollop of strawberry jam.

It's the most delicious sandwich I've had for quite some time. I used up most of dad's brie but it's ok - he's an arsehole.

I just created the best breakfast sandwich, I soaked two pieces of bread in eggs, put some ham and cheese on them and cooked it in a sandwich maker.  I have to go make another now.

Cheerios in Whole Milk. Orange Juice.

Dad got some random panini things because they were a special introductory half price. Two flavours - Bacon and brie with mustard mayo, and grilled chicken with mozarella with pesto sauce. Both were delicious. I don't know what the price was but I would get them again. They make a nice, filling snack.

I'm sitting here at work eating Fried Fish, Mashed Potatos and a roll from MCL.

I am eating left over pizza w/ canadian bacon that my boss bought last night.

I made hamburgers and put BBQ sauce and melted cheese on em. Not bad, went down well with Pepsi. I had to cook one patty at a time due to a smaller frying pan. Plus, to avoid grease getting all over the stove, I had to put a small lid on them.

Not bad for a $4 investment in beef.

I just had a meat feast of a sandwich. I picked up whatever meat I could find in the fridge and put it between some extra thick, soft white bread. Some thick slices carved from a leg of ham, smoked duck, lamb and a bit of beef.

I eat seafood spaghetti every day at the same restaurant so that I can hit on the hot waitress. :(

I'm going to have tuna steak in a couple of minutes. Never ate that before. (But I ate tuna though, just not in steak form)

Bourbon Chicken

I was going to eat a tuna steak from the freezer a couple of months ago. Its use by date was January but this was in June. I kept putting it off because it had a black blob on it which looked like a bacteria colony spreading through the veiny vallies in the meat. In the end I thought I would be brave and cook it. The black blob turned out to be a bit of garnish.  :embarassed:

I made some stuffed peppers tonight.

(makes 6 peppers)
1 lb ground pork
1 cup cooked rice
1/3 cup parmesan cheese
1/3 large sweet onion, diced
1/3 cup mushrooms, diced
1/4 cup white wine (used a fume blanc tonight, turned out excellent)
2 yellow bell peppers
2 orange bell peppers
2 red bell peppers

Chop 1/3 or 1/4 of the peppers off so that they can be stuffed and so that part of it can be used in the stuffing.
Cook wine, onion, pork and a spoonful of chopped garlic in a large pan. Once the pork is cooked add the chopped peppers and mushrooms.
Season how you like.  I used a bit of Anise seed and ground fennel along with ground black pepper and a single Habenero pepper from my garden. 
Once the peppers and mushrooms are steamed a bit, add the rice and cheese.
Stuff the peppers and put into an oven for 30 minutes at 350, with some more of the wine in the pan for moisture.

Delicious.

I had Creamy Chicken Ramen for lunch, a Corned Beef/Swiss/Mustard sandwich on Rye for a snack, and am going to have pork chops for dinner. For dessert, my favorite ice cream. Cookies and Cream!!!!!  :D :D

Had a Chipotle burrito earlier that was the size of a small bus. I wouldn't be surprised to see Chipotle going out of business later this week the way that employee was packing food in there. Oh it was good.

I love myself some cookies and creme :) Go with the Breyer's. It's the best I've had.

Choco Pops. They're good but I tend to get tired of them quicker than Chocos.

I made goat cheese and herb stuffed mushrooms over the weekend to bring to a BBQ. They were delicious.

School right now is a pain. I have baking/pastry, which I'm not enjoying much at all. I like meat, not bread.

In general though, I am enjoying it a whole bunch. The school I am looking to transfer to in Portland seems pretty awesome, too. Cheaper for one, and they like to stick it to the man, two things that I appreciate. Apparently they got fed up with the school that was there, and found a few people to privately fund an alternative school. It's almost 20k less for the program, and is really well respected in the area.

Well, hang in there. I'm sure you'll be able to make some amazing things once you're done. I hope I'll learn how to cook properly one day, too. (But it'll be most likely not in a school, though)

Well you said what you thought about bread and meat, so I was wondering how you felt about fish. That's all. :)

Today I ate at the well renowned Harry Ramsden's in Cardiff. It's a famous fish restaurant, supposedly great quality. I ordered the scampi for £8.95. I got a small plate with a handful of scampi and a handful of undercooked chips. There was almost more tartare sauce in the ramekin than there was food to put it on. So at £9 for a crap meal, you would hope the service would at least make up for it.  :no: The waitresses had clearly gone for a break while they were serving us. They were all wearing stupid lurid pink clothes and stupid pink foil wigs. There was one waiter dressed in drag with balloons under his shirt and make-up on. There were six of us, three had desserts. The whole thing took about one hour, forty five minutes. They got our drinks orders wrong three times.

Needless to say, there was no tip. :(

Sounds like the reputation was unearned.

I'm in the process of making a lamb roast.  The 4lb boneless piece of lamb is sitting in some cabernet sauvignon with rosemary and garlic.  It will go into the oven tomorrow when I get home from work.  I can't wait for it.

But, holy crap lamb is expensive....
Total cost for the lamb, seasoning and wine was about $55.

(Celebrating a perfect math score on the GRE, entrance exam for graduate school.  I'm an engineer, so the math score is the only important one.)

We'll see how it turns out first.  It should be good, but its the first time I've dealt with lamb. 

Harry Ramsden's is a chain of restaurants going back quite a while. Most of them used to be fairly good but I haven't been to one for a long time.

Another point I forgot - My sister had lemon meringue pie for dessert. It was hot on the edges and frozen in the middle. I think that's appalling. They obviously bunged it in the microwave for a while. Not what you would expect for the price at all.



Hydrobond - that lamb sounds great. A good quality lamb is possibly my favourite meat. But we usually have roast chicken on Sundays because it's so cheap. It gets boring after a while. I like roast pork but it's not healthy at all. We almost never have lamb, maybe for the price. I don't really know how expensive it is here.

Well tonight, we aren't having anything. Like, for real. :(

Lamb is tough to do right. One reason I usually can't stand the stuff. Best I've had was in Greece.

^I've been told that I'm making a mistake by marinating it overnight in the red wine and herb mixture, but that is what the recipe said to do.  Lamb has some very delicate flavors and it is entirely possible that I'm overpowering them with the mixture its sitting in right now.  That being said, its not like what its in will produce a bad flavor.  It's pretty standard for a red meat.  I remain confident that this will be turn out well.

I haven't cooked lamb for over a year and a half, and this is the first time I've tried any type of seasoning besides a touch of pepper.

Tangent:  Anyone ever have Tur-Duck-Hen?  My family had it last Thanksgiving and it was amazing.  Its a hen stuffed inside of a duck stuffed inside of a turkey, and ours had a cajun stuffing along with it.  It was excellent.

Well, I found some old gnocchi in the freezer, so I made those. Kinda stale tasting, but not bad for out of the blue cooking. And I have never had TurDuckHen. That sounds mighty tasty though... :drool:

If you have time, maybe you should think about braising it? I much prefer it to roasting, and it would alleviate you the problem of marinating it overnight?

I had some minging baked sausages and fresh bread this evening. :yuck: Baked sausage always get crispy skins which overpower the flavour of the rest of it. What kind of a meal is sausages and bread? If it was like a bacon butty it would have been ok.

Then for dessert I had luke warm custard with a home made fruit pastry wrap thing. Cooked fruit like you would do for a pie or crumble but in some overcooked filo pastry.

You put a hole in one slice, put the egg in, then the cheese, then another holed slice of bread with an egg in that. The hard part is finding the balance between the top and the bottom eggs. You want to flip it at some point, which can be difficult if the top egg is still all runny. Some people suggest covering the top, but I didn't have a lid the right size, so I just had to man up and flip it wet.

Last night we went for a birthday meal at Nando's. They mainly do spicy chicken. I had a medium hotness 1/2 chicken with chips and coleslaw for £8.50. :) For once we had nothing to complain about.

They are pretty much like a convenience store and a 7-11. They sell a little bit of groceries, drinks, etc. They also have a "deli" where you get hoagies, soup bowls, and the like.  They also usually sell gas the cheapest near me.

It was delicious, and the mushrooms weren't that noticeable.  They were baby portobello mushrooms that were diced up into really small pieces and carmalized with the onions.  Like I said, it was delicious.  Made two of them.

Subway sammich with Italian herbs bread, roast beef, pepperoni, extra onions, lettuce, vinegar, and oil. Yum.

A bowl of chocolate custard. It's pretty much just runny chocolate pudding. Like chocolate mousse without the bubbles. I was debating putting it with a mince pie but decided to eat the pie separately.

Pasta & tomato sauce with ground pork and an onion, Parmesan cheese and pepper.

I'm on my own for a few weeks so when I heard an ad on the radio for pork roast at NZ$6/kilo I thought I'd give it a go. Given that I've never cooked a roast before, I was working on my own, and the only "recipe" I had was the label on the meat saying 1hr/kilo I think I did very well. I didn't manage to get any crackling but I took the skin off and put it under the grill this morning. I had roast potatoes, kumara, pumpkin, broccoli, and carrots.

I'll start by adding yams.

In approximately 3.5 hours I will begin consuming Chinese food.

I'm eating peaches now.

Right about now I should be consuming the remains of my Chinese food dinner, but earlier I learned that Thanksgiving is the one day that all local Chinese restaurants take off.  Instead I will consume approximately three IHOP Griddle and Sausage Wraps and three to five Pizza Rolls (both available in your grocer's freezer) before attempting the final level in Mutant Mudds again tonight.

Wheat Thins Tomato and Basil, gearing up to cook some seafood mix on spinach leaves with grilled baked potatos for supper.  I am surely one of the only humans alive that enjoy dieting.   :drool:

And probably one of the few cooking on a grill with about two feet of snow.

While making it, the "bacon" smell seemed really familiar, but I couldn't place it at first. Then I realized why it was familiar. The dog has treats that have the exact same smell.

I'm eating some fresh catfish I caught and breaded this morning and sweet corn on the cob.

Munching on some Doritos Jacked Spicy Chipotle BBQ chips. Their amazing!

This has been a burrito kind of day. Ended up getting a taco truck burrito with a friend, only to come home and find that my partner had went and got some burritos from the corner store for dinner.

Pita dipped into that wonderful, crack-like, Arabic garlic cream/paste.  Man that stuff is good.

Me and GF made some chicken pesto pasta concoction with home made pesto. Was pretty aight.

Leftover blackened steak with some mashed taters and creamed corn all goulashed together. Reminiscent of those disgusting KFC bowels, but actually good.

cream corn, mashed potatoes, and steak or ground beef always go great together. peas are a good alternative to the cream corn too.

I'm about to have some sweet potato waffle fries tosses with sauteed bacon, onion, garlic and  put back in the oven with a shitload of cheddar cheese on top. woo hoo.

I found some really good Ramen. Mi Goreng, it comes with all these little sauces and packets. It's MSG free and soooo much better than maruchan.

Agreed, that's the brand I normally jump on, with the odd Korean brand here or there.

The best I tasted is Nong Shim (the noodle quality being my main focus).  How does Mi Goreng compare to Nong Shim?

Just had me some Nong Shim Spicy Kimchi soup. I've yet to find a soup that tastes like it.

I remember those from when I was a kid. The packaging has changed, but the ice cream part looks identical to what I remember.


Just had some groundhog liver and heart. I was just going to take off the legs like I normally do, but decided to grill these up on my new grill just to try. I put them in some foil with butter and Mrs. Dash. They actually came out really good. I don't even like liver, but this was pretty good, tasted like steak, just didn't have the same texture.

No, they're not testicles. Just balls of ground venison. I figured chicken nuggets are good like that, so deer should be too, a little A1 sauce for dipping should pair nicely with it.

I'm about to partake in fresh salsa made entirely from my garden.  Well, my father-in-law's garden, since mine needs a couple of years of mulch and manure to grow anything other than corn (and weeds).

Got some Papa John's for some reason. Now I have a headache.

Homemade ham, egg, and cheese biscuits with real, actual honey on them.

Made two strombolis, one has beef, ham, pepperoni, and mozzarella in it. The other one has all of that plus green pepper and onion.

I've been eating a lot of this "dendeng" lately. Its suuuuuuper good. I have had sooo many different kinds of jerky before but this is by far my favorite. Here is a recipe if anybody is curious. The coriandor is key!

Made some Steak and Potato soup. Was aight, I shoulda taken out the steak after I cooked it then put it back in at the end, OR cooked it for like 4 more hours to get melty in mouthy. Oh well, tasty enough, just a bit chewy.

Need to try to get into that again at some point.  Falling Skies, that is.  And Animal Crackers.  Flavored, or plain?  All I have is those letter crackers from Trader Joes, and some regular Animal Crackers would hit the spot.  My dad doesn't bring over Animal Crackers for the kids anymore (only Teddy Grahams), so I get no chance to snake a couple these days.

Unrelated, since I have to do deliveries in Ann Arbor next week I intent to stop at a different Lebanese restaurant each day and try their chicken shwarma sandwich.
