Title: I'm on a book buying binge
Post by: den68 on February 23, 2006, 04:44:14 AM
lately I've been collecting Star Trek books so I scour the book shelves everytime I stop at a thrift. this of course has led me to find many other books I want to read.

I've bought probably over 100 books in the past month. with a price range of 20 cents to $2 for hardcovers it's hard to pass these up.

one of my favorite sci-fi authors is Andre Norton and Tuesday I picked up 18 paperbacks of hers that I did not have.

I could open my own library.

Only a couple thousand more to go!

I was collecting STAR WARS novels for awhile but I always stayed away from the Trek section for monetary (and not ever being remotely close to trekkie status) reasons.

100 books in a month is pretty good. The wife and I are buying books like crazy too. In fact we are going to a library book sale today. We have probally got 100 new (to us) books since last fall. My pile of to read books is growing faster then I can read them...

During the third week of january I spent over $500 on seven (that's right, seven) books that I will most likely never read.  Why do text books have to be so freeking expensive?

Are you going to be able to read all of those books?  (How much reading time do you usually get?)

Text books suck. I spent 60$ on one I haven't even had to open and probably never will have to open for my class. I should sell it before its too old.

ah yes I remember the days of going broke paying for text books I barely looked at.

I'm pretty sure I'll never read ALL the books I'be bought. I read on my lunch break at work and a bit before I go to sleep most nights. last year I read around 20 and so far this year I've only finished four.

Having finished four already this year puts you ahead of schedule.  If you keep this rate up you will have read 24+ books in 2006. ;-)

I'm an avid book collector. I read in cycles. I started a collection about 5 years ago of college history textbooks. I have a few that date back to 1930-1940.

I'm sure you all know this, but try selling textbooks on amazon or through B&N. [For us procrastinators]--If you can't sell them back to your school sometimes the online bookstores have a need for them and will buy them from you. I believe they reimburse you for shipping (not sure).

Books too!!  We all know you have a ton of Video Games and we have see the record thread.  So are you going to build an addition or just move when you run out of room?

I'm not really one that should talk.  I will say that I have been able to keep away from the records (so far), I don't need one more thing!  It only difficult when something interesting happens to be showing, but thankfully that doen't happent to often.  Unless your into Barry Manilow...
