Title: I finally got a DS!
Post by: den68 on December 18, 2005, 02:27:23 PM
Friday night I finally bouight a Nintendo DS. I picked up the Mario Kart Bundle so at the moment that is the only game I have for it.

I of course will be picking up Animal Crossing, that one is a no brainer. I'm also curious about Electro Plankton as I've heard it's only available to buy online with the exception of that Nintendo store. Could be a hard to get one.

So what are the best titles for the DS thus far?

Anything going dirt cheap yet?

I've got $120 bucks left from my prize money left and I'm anxious to nab a few more DS games.

Wario Wares is a cool game and Mario 64 DS is another sweet game, too.  That's all I played but I also heard Nintendogs is good, Trace Memory, and Phoenix Wright are all good games.  Enjoy!

Definitely warioware. I almost bought myself a DS just because I played WW in the store for five minutes. And most likely castlevainia rocks

Kirby Canvas Curse
Lost in Blue
Zoo Keeper
Meteos

Are all also supposed to be very good titles.

I have played Zoo Keeper and that is pretty fun.
The rest i have only seen and read reviews and such.

Pretty sure Feel The Magic is one of the 10$ games at TRU.

I can vouch for Izret, Zoo Keeper is a lot of fun.  I got it for $20 at Blockbuster a while ago and I thought it was worth it.

Do not pass this game up.  You will never drink the sweet honey of paradise until you play Dawn of Sorrow (and Aria too, for GBA).

Yeah, it's allright.  By "allright," I of course mean that playing it transports me to neverending elysian fields of infinite beauty and wonder.

Symphony of the Night for PSX definately did that for me. Then some kid broke it and I had to eat his soul. I still haven't gotten a replacement Symphony, i can never make myself go digging in the PS1 bins.

What kind of powers did his soul give you?  Aria of Sorrow tells me that each soul I collect gives me special moves or powers.  I hope that kid's soul at least gave you a skill that was worth losing Symphony of the Night over.  If you got something like double jump, I say it's worth it since you can just take some gold to the local shop and buy the game over again.

Feel the Magic
Wario Ware
Trauma Center
Castlevania

Those are the -must- haves next to Animal Crossing and Mario Kart. There are also good (I have all the current releases, trust me)

Mario & Luigi 2 (must have for RPG/Mario fans)
Zoo Keeper
Lost in Blue & Zoo Tycoon (for sim lovers) tie, both are good.
Pac n Roll (for the retro/marble madness gamer)
Trace Memory

BTW all of those games are in the order I'd put priority on em if I didn't have em. They're the best of the current lineup.

A note on Lost in Blue... If you like the fishing aspect of animal crossing you'll prolly like that game. It's a LOT more involved cause you have to build spears, rods, and such but you also have to go hunting and whatnot.

I made it to the final in my fantasy football league at work. I'm guaranteed at least $140 in winnings. first place is $250. looks like a good chunk of that will be going for DS games.

are any of these games on the cheap yet?

is that Retro Atari game any good?

About the cheapest I have seen any of the games Laurel mentioned was Feel the Magic @ $20.  The rest are $30-40 each.  I have seen the Retro Atari game at Meijer for $9.99, but have no idea if it is any good.

I'd go with Castlevania, Advance Wars...and Nintendogs for shits and grins.  Mario & Luigi is supposedly pretty good too.  I may be picking up a DS this weekend. :)

Retro Atari is great for folks like us that dig on the old school. Come to think of it, Pac-Pix is worth checking out if you already have the "must haves" that were previously mentioned. It's a nice twist on a good ol game. You draw Pac-Man and then have to draw walls (moving the stylus in certain directions) to get Pac-Man to move that way. It's easy on the first few levels but gets difficult as you progress.

Hey why does everyone say these games are so great but none of them have votes cast, or have few votes cast?

RATE YOUR GAMES!

I played a bit of Feel the Magic yesterday. that is a pretty unique game. I did 2 levels where you had to blow on the touch screen and another where you had to yell in the mike. definately different.

My mother in law got me a DS game for xmas so between my wife and I we've got 6 game already.

Mario Kart
Polarium
Feel the Magic
Nintendogs
Animal Crossing
Tak: The Great Juju Challenge
