Title: Maybe this doesn't deserve a thread, but...
Post by: Lord Nepenthean on December 07, 2005, 02:02:28 PM
I found out today that one of my professors used to work for Acclaim.  Apparently their sound studios were right here in Cincinnati, OH, though nobody really ever knew that.  He bailed on Acclaim when they stopped paying the bills for their own studio and left that to the employees.  Paying $5,000 a month for Acclaim's studio didn't sound like a good idea.

He has also done a lot of music for Sony games over the years, and is currently working on stuff for two upcoming Xbox 360 games and one PlayStation 3 game.  I will definitely be asking this guy more questions very soon.

Thats wicked cool!

How did this topic come up?

His name wouldn't happen to be Dan Forden would it? (lol, i am pretty sure he never has nor will worked for Acclaim)

Interesting news, and if you continue to talk to him about this then the topic is most centainly thread worthy.

Well later in class he took us down to one of the audio studios at school (sweeeeet setup in there btw).  He gave a brief overview of ProTools and showed played some audio he did (with the video) for the Turok: Future game that never came out.  I asked him if the trailer had ever been released, and he said it hadn't.  So, I got to see a unreleased trailer for the unreleased Turok: Future today in class.  Very cool.

@Anthony - No, his name is Mike Tekulve.  I did a quick Google search on his name and he did show up on at least a few games on GameFAQs.  The first few I see are: Aggressive Inline, Nuclear Strike, Return to Krondor (archetype will be excited to hear this - she's a huge Krondor fan), Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2, and Showdown: Legends of Wrestling.  Obviously he also at least did trailer audio work for Turok: Legends.  I plan to ask what other games he worked with and if he did the other Turok games.  I think he said he's been in the business for ten years, so he should have interesting stories to tell.

Very cool man.
Any chance of getting that Turok vid leaked so others can see?
Though that might be some sort of a contract breach... who knows.

In anycase sounds interesting keep us posted :)

Very very cool. Do an interview with him and post it on the boards.

a fan of just the games? or does she read Raymond E. Feist? I'm on my 10th Feist novel at the moment and all prominently feature the city of Krondor. Great books indeed.

Just the games, really.  Maybe I'll try finding one of the books for her and see if she'd be interested.  I kind of doubt it, but who knows.  I on the other hand would probably like them if I actually had time to read them.  Too bad Photoshop has taken over my life.

3 of his books are adaptations of content from the games.

Krondor: the Assasins
Betrayal at Krondor
Krondor: Tear of the Gods

I've been curious about the games myself after reading them. Have you played them at all?

Man, that's some awesome news.  Keep up posted and try to get whatever information you can from him.  Maybe some of the info can benefit this website.  And like Tynstar said get an interview with him and post it on the website.
