Title: More Nintendogs Success Post by: Lord Nepenthean on October 17, 2005, 08:04:25 AM http://gamesindustry.biz/news.php?aid=12196
Quote Nintendogs replicates overseas success with massive European sales Rob Fahey 14:12 12/10/2005 160,000 units in a weekend as Miyamoto's puppies find plenty of good homes Puppy training simulator Nintendogs has racked up sales of over 160,000 units across Europe in its first weekend on sale, with the Nintendo DS title looking set to match its earlier successes in North America and Japan. The highly unusual title - which allows players to interact directly with a puppy using the stylus and microphone on the Nintendo DS - launched last Friday in Europe, accompanied by new pink and blue editions of the DS console. The enormous success of the game mirrors the situation in North America, where the title sold around 250,000 units in its first week on sale. So far 1.5 million units have been sold in North America and Japan alone. "Nintendogs is clearly helping sell new Nintendo DS hardware," commented Nintendo's senior director of marketing Jim Merrick. "Nintendo DS sales are up between 400 - 700 per cent across Europe; this will further cement our position as leader in the portable market." In Japan, Nintendogs sold strongly to female audiences and is fingered as a key title in helping to drive the DS console out beyond the traditional gaming demographic in that market, along with other software such as the Brain Training titles - which will appear in Europe in the coming months. Strategy guides and 100 page manuals need not apply.
I just wish there were more games like this for the game cube. Super Monkey Ball is getting old. Title: Re: More Nintendogs Success Post by: captain_nintendo on October 17, 2005, 10:15:58 AM Good for Nintendo |D
Everywhere I look , those games are sold out. And a whole lot of marketing helps too ;) Title: Re: More Nintendogs Success Post by: TraderJake on October 17, 2005, 01:58:10 PM Yay Nintendo. Now carry over the massive sales into the next generation.
Bring on Mario Kart. Title: Re: More Nintendogs Success Post by: CatchFiveBats on October 17, 2005, 03:13:18 PM Quote Bring on Mario Kart. And Animal Crossing! |D - CFB Title: Re: More Nintendogs Success Post by: TraderJake on October 17, 2005, 03:49:50 PM Although I enjoyed the game without the Nintendo Classics, I hope they include Clu Clu Land.
and all the other games in the original Title: Re: More Nintendogs Success Post by: Vladimir on October 17, 2005, 05:01:30 PM WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Title: Re: More Nintendogs Success Post by: Lord Nepenthean on December 08, 2005, 12:19:28 PM Apparently the game has now sold just under 1,000,000 copies in the U.S. alone. I wouldn't be surprised if they pass the milestone by the end of the Christmas season. Crazy sales. Also, according to this article (http://gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=13491):
Quote According to Nintendo, the DS has achieved total sales of around 6 million to date, compared to 4.26 million for the PSP. Title: Re: More Nintendogs Success Post by: Arrrhalomynn on December 08, 2005, 02:11:21 PM I haven't played this game, nor have I even seen it in action, but the idea seems utterly retarded. why is this so popular?
Title: Re: More Nintendogs Success Post by: Izret101 on December 08, 2005, 03:07:52 PM Holy shit! 1mil copies!?!!
On that note i am a friend of the Nintendogs Myspace group. Title: Re: More Nintendogs Success Post by: CatchFiveBats on December 08, 2005, 07:17:17 PM I actually didn't find Nintendogs to be THAT much fun, but I can see how it could be really addictive for some people. It's the same idea as why Animal Crossing is fun (speaking of which, Wild World is awesome): I play it and have a blast, then I stop and say "wait...why am I enjoying this?". My brain starts to hurt after a bit because I don't see any reason, so I just go back to playing. There really is no explanation, but Nintendo is ingenious for creating games that take pointless, unexplained fun to new levels.

The set with a DS and Nintendogs is originally at 150 €, reaching 210-230 € at ebay. Nintendogs Labrador is sold there, doubling its original prie and sometimes even passing that mark. Title: Re: More Nintendogs Success Post by: captain_nintendo on December 09, 2005, 03:07:20 AM I have a copy and played the hell out of it for the first week or 2, but the "charm" wore off and I started playing Castlevania for the DS (sweet game)
I think my dog ran away because I havent played in so long :-[ Title: Re: More Nintendogs Success Post by: yap on December 09, 2005, 06:25:38 AM I played with my Nintendog for like 5 minutes, I thought it was annoying. My girlfriend liked it though.
