CHECKPOINTS:
Picking up the Pieces
The Empty Set
The Spine of The World
Bracket Towers
Canvas and Brush

*Note on checkpoints - This game is pretty short and not segmented very cleanly as you go through it. The checkpoints above are taken from  Bkstunt_31's walkthrough on Gamefaqs but I'll add that the Sybill boss fight is about one third into the game and The Spine fight is about two thirds in. Hope that helps.

I tried to play this once for a few minutes a while back but wasn't feeling it, so I'm gonna give it another shot next month. I'm pretty sure this was a PS+ title a while back so check your lists to see if you already have it.

Confirmed this was PS+ at some point, that's how I am playing it. Otherwise it's $20 on Playstation Store or you could try to find a copy of the LRG print.

I picked up the LRG print of this for the switch a while back and played it for a little bit and just never got back to it. I'll have to give it another shot, so I am in too.

I just finished the game for the first time and enjoyed it way more than Bastion. To those who tried the game and didn't stick with it, hopefully this playthrough will inspire you to get into it because the combat system is pretty awesome and the game can be beaten in a few sittings.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I think you and I talked about it before, but I wasn't a huge fan of Bastion, so hopefully I'll fare better with this one. I really didn't give this game much of a chance before partially based on my experience with Bastion, but we'll see how it goes this time.

I checked my PS+ games and, sadly, I don't have this one.

Maybe it's at your parents' house?

Really glad you are enjoying the game, Shawn! Like a bunch of others, I played this game a few times, and it didn't slap, so I stopped playing.  I love Supergiant, LOVE Bastion, and I always really wanted to like this game.  The art is so cool, the world is so cool, and Darren Korb's music fits the world so well

I played for a while last night (as you can tell from my live signature ;) and finished The Empty Set and aside from liking the concept, artwork, and music, the game really isn't clicking with me yet.

Being able to swap abilities in and out of your 4 slots is great, every ability having a support function when slotted under a main abilitiy is cool, makes for MANY different build combinations. but I feel like the combat isnt interesting.  I feel like every battle, I hit the trigger, try to take out enemies, collect the guys so they don't re-spawn, and then run around behind pillars since that is all I can do until my meter charges up again.  I might watch some playthroughs of the parts I've already played to see if there is anything else I can do to make the combat feel more engaging.

I watched a couple combat videos and now I realize that they want you to play around with the installed functions and install the others as passive upgrades to get the combat feeling the way you want it to.  I have some ideas now..

It has been far too long since I played a game with you guys.  I see that I have this game on Steam and that it is short so I'm going to try to find some time to play it.

I see that it is on every system but Xbox which is kind of funny because Bastion was first an Xbox Live Arcade exclusive on the 360.

Yeah, I was a huge fan of Bastion, which is on literally everything now, and when Transistor was first announced it was a PS4 exclusive, which was a bummer for me, now that it's on PC, I'm good

Awesome Kevin!  Glad to have you on board.

The game wasn't bad, better story than past month but game play, eternal eyes wins
. Not saying much for this one.

Yeah it might have been, but it was about a 5 to 10 dollar quality, I guess paying 20 for a digital game.i expected a bit more to the gameplay.  I would of enjoyed the game more if they did a first person walking simulator for the story.

I was able to finish this in one sitting today, and honestly I didn’t really enjoy this one.  To start with the good, the music is amazing and the voice acting was really good (it was cool how “transistor” would talk to Red along her journey and would comment as they passed familiar areas in the game). For the bad, I felt like Red just moved way too slow. Yeah I get that the game is short and the developers didn’t just want you to run through it but Red’s speed made both exploring and battles drag on. While the combat system was interesting, the battle themselves got to the point were they were becoming repetitive and filler to pad the playtime. Especially the “man” enemies at the end of the game, those fights frustrated the hell out of me. They spend most of the fight invisible so you can’t hit them, and when they do appear, they have a projectile attack that will follow you (And you’re too slow to out run it) until it hits you and if it does, you lose more than half of your life. The only exception to the boring battles was the final boss fight which essentially pits you against an enemy like yourself that can combo like you can. I really wish there were more varied encounters like it. Lastly, and this is more of a question than an issue, but what does the flurry move even do? I don’t believe I was able to use it in combat, and the only thing it seemed to do was interact with some things in the environment. I feel like I’m missing something because I feel like it serves no purposes and is just a thing you can do I guess.

⏰QUESTION OF THE MONTH!⏰

You have the power to stop time for everyone/everything except yourself for thirty seconds, one use per day. What are your plans?
