28th - Resident Evil 7 (PS4): The Rambo style gameplay is gone and the horror is back. RE 7 has lot in common with the old games, even in 1st person: backtracking, puzzles, limited ammo, scary moments and most important thing of all, it's fun. The only big let down for me is Ethan, he's almost a playable NPC, but it's ok, i'm happy to see CAPCOM is still capable to make a great Resident Evil game. 9/10 April 1st - Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch): Wow, this took me a while to beat, it's a very time demanding game, but thankfully, it's was reeeeally worth the 50-60 hours i spent playing it.Probably the best open world ever. I did the main quest, recovered all memories, 62 shrines, 50 korok seeds, got the master sword and that's it, i'm already satisfied, i don't feel the need to do everything. 10/10 September 10th - Splatoon 2 (Switch) I enjoyed it, but i was expecting more new content, especially a bigger production for the single-player mode, that did not happen. It's still as simple and short as it was in the first game. Maybe next time... (i hope) 7/10 18th - Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle (Switch)Greatest surprise of the year. Gameplay is fun, intuitive, easy to learn and extremely addicting from the start to the end, and i'm not even a fan of turn based strategy games. Some puzzles are a bit repetitive, but apart from that, best Switch game after Zelda so far. 9/10 October 7th - Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS) The environments are kinda bland and the bosses encounters were not too exciting, but the classic Metroid gameplay was addicting enough to keep me playing till the end. Not among my favorites in the series, but i had a good time. 8/10 25th - The Evil Within 2 (PS4) I love horror games and this one doesn't disappoint, it's a very good option for people who like Resident Evil 4 or Silent Hill. I'd just say that the first half of game is more interesting than the second one, mostly because of the photographer villain, but it's a nice experience overall. 8/10 November 17th Super Mario Odyssey (Switch) Best Mario since Galaxy. The hat gimmick is so great, i would not mind to see a sequel using it again. Overall, this game is amazing, fun, creative and full of nostalgia touches. I beat the main story mode and while i had a great time playing it, i think that finding all the 999 moons is just too much, i don't feel the need to do it. 10/10 Title: Re: The Beaten in 2017 Thread (One Post Per Person) Post by: Duke.Togo on December 30, 2016, 11:34:41 PM Xbox One

2.Dead Pixels (steam) 1/26/17 3.Final Fantasy XV (PS4) 2/2/17 4.Attack on Titan (PS4) 2/8/17 It was over before I even realized it. I want a second one. Now. 5.Blaster Master Zero (switch) 3/18/17 Got the frog ending. 5a.Blaster Master Zero (switch)3/20/17 Got the true ending. Unlocked the unlimited mode. 6.Zelda Breath of the Wild (switch) 3/30/17 Quite possibly the best Zelda game I've ever played. Few games ever make me think they are epic, this is one of them. I, I honestly can't speak well enough of this game. I do know, it's going to be some time before I play a game that leaves such an impact as this has. Worse, all I have left is Bomberman R for the switch to beat. More games, that system needs more games now. Looking at it, it took me 105 hours to beat. 105 hours. Thinking about it from another view, that's almost 4 weeks of work. Or, almost $700 of pay checks. While excited over beating it, suddenly, I feel a bit ill. 7.Strikers 1945 (vita) 4/12/17 I question if the game was really beat as all it did was roll to the first stage. I've yet to see anything about a real ending for the game. It's done so I'm on to something else. 8.Valkyrie Drive (vita) 4/28/17 I didn't get the good ending, it requires everything be SS. Too much work for a game that left me feeling so dirty. Fan service is nice but frankly, I'm drowning in it with this game and need to come up for air. Also some soap. Seriously, this game is for a niche group of gaming I'm not sure I fall under. 9.Disgaea 5 (switch) 6/25/17 Took 90 hours but I beat it! I honestly can't believe how....long it...felt. I loved the game but damn, I'm so tired now. So very tired. 10.Fortix (vita) 7/8/17 Cute little qix clone that was over far too quickly. Medieval setting with like 12 levels tops. At least it was cheap at .99 cents. Would only recommend for those looking to spend the last on their account who don't mind something short. 10a.Fortrix (vita) 7/9/17 Beat it on normal difficulty this time. Even attained perfect on all 12 levels. At .99 cents, still not the worst game out there, just no better ending even with 12 perfect finishes. I'm not going to try for either of the other two difficulties. Game's ok but it's downfall is it is just what my initial thoughts were. A qix clone with no real challenge, no real variation, just new backgrounds. I got too many other real games to play. Also, restarting the game erases any previous stage and going back to perfect previous stages once the game is beat doesn't look to be reflected on your final high score so if you die, you have to restart the stage till you can beat it without dieing. 11.Hatsune Miku Project Diva X (vita) 7/9/17 Ok, I'm not honestly certain I can consider this finished. I beat all the songs on easy, got to the ending, and now it wants me to play everything on a new difficulty. There were credits, they rolled, I skipped them. As I'm nowhere near good at the hardest difficulties and the lack of some songs I enjoy from the franchise, I'm good. I don't need the ultimate ending nor many of the trophies. I'm not a trophy hunter even on games I love 100%. 12.Persona 5 (ps4) 9/19/17 Didn't know if I'd like it. Sure, I love the persona series but in all truth, never beat one. At some point or another, I've always got bored with them and never finished. First in the entire series that I wanted to keep playing way in to the wee hours of the morning. As I'd started during hurricane Harvey, I kept playing long after. Now that it's done, I have to say it's shaped up to be my GotY so far. I thought FFXV was good but this completely blows it out of the water. 13.Stardew Valley (ps4) 10/11/17 Saying I beat it feels a bit off but the game doesn't really have an ending. Play till the third year, grandpa visits, then you carry on. I got 60 hours into it and honestly didn't feel the need to carry on. I did almost everything I could think of, I'm good I guess. 14.Dungeon Hunter:Alliance (vita) 10/22/17 Played a lot like Diablo. Not a bad game. Not exactly the best of its kind but was fun enough I kept at it till the end. Won't be playing legendary mode but was worth the $10 I paid for it used. I've played worse, far worse. 15.Fire Emblem Warriors (switch) 10/25/17 It wasn't bad but I gotta be honest, I thought it would be longer. I've only had it 5 days. 5 whole freaking days. for an $80 game, I kinda wanted it to last more. Maybe solve at least 1 of the freaking puzzles. Maybe a reason to invest in more of the characters. It wasn't bad but I expected it to be better then this. 16.Super Mario Odyssey (switch) 11/3/17 I don't want to say much, there's really no point. Best Mario game I have ever played. By far it deserves the highest score. 17.Hue (vita) 11/9/17 Didn't know what I was getting when I got it. Was one of the freebies off playstation plus for the month and figured I'd give it a try. Free or not, it's a great game. A nice puzzle/platform game. Definitely going to recommend it to people. Hard to believe this makes game 17. Didn't plan to beat so many. 18.Sky Force (vita) 11/17/17 Nice little shooter. Not sure the point in beating the final stage as it had no part in the story that I could see. Still, all 9 stages beat now. Just not all on nightmare. Once again, no real reason seen for that either. 19.Axiom Verge (switch) 11/27/17 Everything I wish they'd do in a new Metroid and then some. Didn't 100% it all but was happy with the final results. Really wish there were more games made with such dedication and respect to classic games like this. Knowing one man made it in 5 years, my mind is still blown. Title: Re: The Beaten in 2017 Thread (One Post Per Person) Post by: Schlibby on December 31, 2016, 05:11:52 AM 1. 1) Dead Space (Steam) - Amazing how well this holds up. Scary and a lot of fun. 2) Final Fantasy IV (PSP, main game) - Almost didn't buy it, but the enhanced graphics aren't as blatant on the small screen. May 3) Ghostbusters - The Video Game (Steam) - Not bad for what it is. 4) Undead Nightmare (PS3) - Almost a return to pre-GTA IV Rockstar humor. Very fun. 5) The 11th Hour (PC) - Weird game. June 6) Driver: Parallel Lines (PC) - Okay for a GTA clone, but meh. Glad it is over. July 7) Streets of Rage (Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, PS3) - First time, great game 8) Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (Steam) - Amazing game, didn't 100% it, but I had to see that ending 9) Rebel Galaxy - (GoG) - No more missions popped up, so I think it is 100% 10) The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition - (Steam, Main Campaign) I already came sixty hours, why not the whole way? 11) The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition - Dawnguard - (Steam) Just because. August 12) S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl - (Steam) Surprisingly excellent game. Honestly thought this would be a FPS, instead got an open world (ish) action-RPG 13) S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Pripyat - (Steam) Much more open world and RPG-like than Chernobyl, but less horror. That ending though... Like Suikoden (or American Graffiti). September 14) Final Fantasy VII - (PSX) Finally done with this and it was worth it. Might go back and finish the Steam version, but who knows 15) Nano Assault EX - (3DS) Great game and a 3D effect that doesn't make me feel sick 16) Attack of the Friday Monsters! - (3DS) Forgot to put this in July and too lazy to renumber everything. Great twist ending. 17) Snoopy's Grand Adventure - (3DS) Gets super choppy, but not a bad platformer for $5. 18) Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!! - (3DS) Ton of fun, but over way too fast. Might play again now that I know the show October 19) Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX - (3DS) Feels great to have this one in the bag finally after more than twenty years (even though it was the original I played). Is the original next? Who knows. 20) Shantae and the Pirate's Curse - (3DS) More fun than I thought it would be. November 21) Medal of Honor (2010) - (PC) Over very suddenly. 22) Medal of Honor: Airborne - (PC) Fun little game, though the constant airdrops seem a bit excessive at times. December 23) Soul Reaver - (PSX) - If I see one more box puzzle... 24) Xenoblade Chronicles 3D - (N3DS) Great story, but I found the near end a little, "meh" compared to what happened before 25) Bio Menace - (GoG) 26) Dracula Unleashed - (Sega CD) Not too shabby for an FMV game. Could have been a movie in the 70's, even with the mixed up accents 27) Mansion of Hidden Souls - (Sega CD) Super short game. 28) Psycho Fox - (SMS) A hardcore platformer, but one seemingly made for novices like me. 1-7-17 - Dead Rising 4 (X1) - A solid game that could have used a little more depth. This game will probably end up gaining traction with a price drop. 1-9-17 - Quackshot (Genesis) - A great title for the system and a Disney game I had not played before. 1-17-17 - Shantae & The Pirate's Curse (Steam) - A good game and I'm looking forward to playing the newest one. 1-25-17 - Rondo of Blood (TCD) - 100% - Great game. 2-8-17 - Resident Evil 7 (X1) - I would love to try this game in VR one day. 2-9-17 - Abzu (X1) - A relaxing game. I recommend it. 2-14-17 - Diablo (PC) - Nothing to see here.... I started to test the game and finished it. 2-19-17 - For Honor (X1) - Rent it to see if you like it. There's more here than you might expect. 3-9-17 - Sniper Elite 4 (X1) - The loop was not as fun as I would have liked but the end boss battle was really dumb and that made it worth it. 3-20-17 - Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning (360) - I was at the end of the game on PC when my hard drive crashed. I'm glad to have finally finished this one. 4-10-17 - Mass Effect Andromeda (X1) - A lot in this game can be forgiven if the plot was better. Sadly it can't. It should be easy i didn't end up completing much... 1. Jan 5 - Zeno Clash Ultimate Edition (XBLA) - The art style of this game is SUPER off putting. I don't remember the story being to stellar either(picked up where i left off years ago and played with no sound this time.). I can't think of another game tied to Atlus that i have hated so much. I haven't started Zeno Clash II yet tho.... Title: Re: The Beaten in 2017 Thread (One Post Per Person) Post by: singlebanana on January 05, 2017, 02:28:28 PM Reserved for The Naner! The ending credits to Japanese SMW were interesting, as the music cut out three or four screens before THE END. The joys of playing a 60Hz game on a 50Hz console. Playing two versions of the same game (Secret of Mana) almost back to back was rewarding, but also tiring. World of Final Fantasy is the second game I've played in the last 12 months where an otherwise English game threw in a Japanese song without including subtitles. This is bizarre because 90% of the game's voice acting is DLC. This is an interesting game, both in what it achieves and what it doesn't. Root Letter is a game in which the premise and setup were really great, but I felt a bit let down with the ending and some of the mechanics. I seem to say that about most visual novels I play which is kinda disappointing in of itself. The game has multiple endings and maybe these endings will improve the overall experience, but this is not a game that really encourages consecutive playthroughs. Final Fantasy Type 0 HD was a decent game, but I almost lost it during the final chapter. Curious note: this game doesn't credit its English voice cast. This is weird because the English voice acting also appears on Japanese versions of the game. Persona 5 is a great game, so much so that I beat this game in three weeks of binge playing. Missed a lot of things, and I don't think it's quite as good as Persona 4, but after waiting for so long beating this was a cathartic experience. After playing 2 RPGs back to back, burning an evening with Mega Man 6 was a good wind down. Dungeon Travelers 2 wasn't bad- the character and enemy designs were pretty good, but there were a few times I was stuck due to difficulty. Trying to keep so many characters at or above optimum level became a bit of a chore. Dungeon Hunters Alliance is a competent Diablo clone. Loading times, motion/touch controls and awkward game layout made this game drag at times, and at times this game felt like it was meant to have a run/quick dodge button. Added a few decent mechanics. Lost Dimension is a good turn-based strategy game. Playing yet another iteration of FFX, but I decided to try a No Sphere Grid challenge to keep things interesting. I did give Tidus "Cheer" before I had decided on a challenge run, and I did resort to using Zanmato twice :( . It did require me to think about battles much more carefully and learn how to use Rikku effectively. Title: Re: The Beaten in 2017 Thread (One Post Per Person) Post by: MetalFRO on January 11, 2017, 05:33:53 PM Addicted - glad to see others appreciate Quackshot! Still such a great, underrated game.
Axiom Verge (Wii U) - January 4th Nemesis (Game Boy) Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch) - beat twice on normal mode with "good" ending The Binding of Isaac Afterbirth + (Switch) - beat in the sense that I reached "Mom" and beat her, got a credits roll Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Game Boy) Metroid II: Return of Samus (Game Boy) I spent way too much time on Breath of the Wild, and didn't get to nearly enough games this year... Title: Re: The Beaten in 2017 Thread (One Post Per Person) Post by: RobotWillie on January 11, 2017, 11:23:26 PM June 27- Sniper Ghost Warrior (PS3) on Hard 2.5/5 It was a fun challenge playing on Hard. The game said it took me 8 hours and 8 minutes but I do not think it counts when you have to reload a checkpoint so I would tack an hour or two on that or more maybe. I had been meaning to check out a sniper game for a while now and picked it up check on a Walmart bargain rack last year. The game was not disappointing for the price I had paid for it, but it is far from what I would call a good game. It is at best average or below average. I would not call it bad but I have no interest in ever playing it again. As expected the story wasn't interesting at all but I wasn't buying this for a story I was buying it for a sniper sim and stealth game. Which adds another point, that while it does feel pretty realistic at times others it just feels like your average FPS with a gun that can aim and shoot farther. You are not always perched in places sniping from above but going through levels avoiding detection and sniping whatever enemy comes along. It felt more like a stealth game of avoiding detection as much as it did a strategy of sniping. I will not be checking out either sequel unless I see it for like 5$ or something. Which 2 is almost there but its not a priority at all. I would rather spend money on trying the other Sniping series Elite now that I have seen this one isn't anything good or special. Which I do think will be better. I will probably start from game 1 with that series as well but I have a feeling I will want to buy the rest after playing 1 which wasn't the case here. To add I did one of the three missions in the Unfinished Business section and got bored and pissed and annoyed at mission 2 at a ridiculous section of having to be stealthy and its a very broken level and I did this on Easy so you know its broken when I played 15 mission on Hard without giving up and gave up on a mission while it was on Easy. And gave up on the Challenge mode level. It is easily my least favorite PS3 game that I have played through or own.
Dec 31- inFamous 2 as a good guy on Medium difficulty. All side missions done and most powers acquired. Will grind XP to buy rest of powers in user made missions. Title: Re: The Beaten in 2017 Thread (One Post Per Person) Post by: shaggy on January 22, 2017, 01:25:11 PM January

Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island - SNES February Yomawari Night Alone - PS Vita March Pokemon Moon - 3DS May Spooky Castle - PC October Keith Courage in Alpha Zones - TG16 (first time beating it properly, without using a glitch that freezes the final boss while allowing you to defeat it) Title: Re: The Beaten in 2017 Thread (One Post Per Person) Post by: the_wizard_666 on April 17, 2017, 03:14:11 AM I can't believe I didn't even post a placeholder here...but anyway, I'll get to it. I only track new completions (or games that I get all the achievements in...yes, I'm a whore), so this list will be missing anything I've beaten in the past, so this isn't everything I've beat this year, only what I've beat for the first time.
January: Monopoly (SNES) - Finished a game against the maximum number of CPU players. NHL '97 (SNES) - Okay, so I simmed the season, but I played through the playoffs and won the Stanley Cup. The Chessmaster (SNES) - Beat the computer on the default settings. Caesar's Palace (NES) - Got the best car per AdamL's list. Curious George (Xbox) - My niece had trouble with it (she's 4), but wanted to see the end, so I played through it for her. Surprisingly fun though! Rock Band Track Pack 2 (X360) - Played through the career mode on Hard. I would do Expert, but I can't quite get the later songs. Batman: Arkham Asylum (X360) - Finished the game on Hard. Batman: Arkham City (X360) - Would've beat it on Hard if I didn't forget that the save I previously used was set on Easy and didn't realize it until late in the game. Definitely gonna go back at some point though. Pocketbike Racer (X360) - Figured I should play through a bunch of quick shit games that have sat for years. Actually kind of fun, in a glitch-fest sort of way. Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara (XBLA) - Beat it a crapload of times because I'm an achievement whore. Got 'em all though. X-Men Arcade (XBLA) - Again, I beat it multiple times to clear out all the achievements. Still wondering why it sat on my hard drive unplayed for all these years though :P February: Pure Chess (XBO) - Another chess game. Not much to say, but it's definitely fun. Gears of War (X360) - Beat it on co-op with a friend who wanted to stream it. I'll never stream a game with him again though...fucking douche :P Mass Effect 3 (X360) - Actually, I beat the entire trilogy, but this was the only new completion I had from it. Uno (XBLA) - Another full completion. Not bad, but grinding wins was a bit of a bore. March: Risk (PS1) - Played with two human opponents and rounded it out with Hard level AI. Capcom's Gold Medal Challenge '92 (NES) - Finished on the top of the medal standings for the first time. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360) - Finished the career on Veteran. Hate how they're pretty much ignoring campaign mode these days... Genghis Khan (NES) - Went through the Mongol Conquest first, then graduated to World Conquest and took over Eurasia. Nobunaga's Ambition (NES) - Much easier than I'd anticipated it to be. Ninjas are godly! Shadowrun (X360) - Yeah, it's a multiplayer-only game, but I did manage to get the full achievement list, so I've marked it off. Donkey Kong (2600) - Only two boards to beat, and I beat them. Donkey Kong Jr. (2600) - This one has three boards, and I beat all of them. Mouse Trap (2600) - One board that repeats endlessly. Mr. Do! (2600) - Another game with a single board that repeats. Terrible port. Carnival (2600) - One board that repeats...kind of a pattern with Atari games. But hey, a win is a win. Solar Fox (2600) - Finished all 8 boards on Parent Mode. Gonna have to go back to do the real thing...20 boards on normal mode. Wizard of Wor (2600) - Pretty much another infinite loop. I survived past the wave where the Wizard comes after you. Didn't manage to kill him though, so I'll be playing it again sometime in the future. Video Chess (2600) - I was expecting this to be easy. Boy was I wrong! It's not flashy, but it's one of the toughest AIs I've played against! Surround (2600) - Well, at least I don't have to play this crap again :P Indy 500 (2600) - Played through all the solo modes. Not much else you can do when you only own one driving controller. April: Air-Sea Battle (2600) - Beat all solo modes, and boy were there a LOT! Still fun solo, but I'm pretty sure multiplayer is MUCH better. Star Ship (2600) - This was a load of utter crap. Yeah, I beat all solo games, but only Lunar Lander mode was actually sorta fun. Star Trek: Conquests (PS2) - Beat the campaign on normal as the Dominion. Short, but fun, I'll definitely be going back in the future! May: Streets of Rage 2 (XBLA) - I resorted to using a glitch to get the final achievement, but I don't care, it's done :P Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (X360) - Beat it a while back, but the final achievement took a bit of grinding out. The Lego Movie Video Game (X360) - Not as good as some of the Lego games I've played, but it's decent while it lasts. A fairly easy 1000g if anyone cares :P Combat (2600) - I only count 2-player only games if I beat a friend who is trying to win, and I managed to do that, once, after a bunch of playing. Frogs & Flies (2600) - Again, I managed to win against a friend who was trying to beat me, so I counted it. X-Men: The Official Game (X360) - Not as bad as some of the reviews I read claimed. Another relatively easy 1000g. June: Golden Axe (XBLA) - Took a while to find someone to play an online game against, otherwise it's a very easy completion. Again, beat it ages ago, but I finally got around to knocking the achievements off. The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition (XBLA) - This one hasn't been fully completed yet, as I still have a few achievements left, but since I beat one playthrough, and probably won't do the second for some time, I'm gonna list it. Gemfire (NES) - I first played it years ago and thought of it as a good starting point for getting into Koei games. Now that I actually played it through, I gotta say it's far too easy for me to enjoy properly. Had it been one of my first experiences with Koei games, I think my opinion would be better, but man, is it boring! Use it as a gateway to the genre, otherwise skip it for something with more depth. July: Pinball Dreams (SNES) - Pretty sure this just goes forever, so I used the "beat the high score on every table" method to call it beaten. Pinball Fantasies (SNES) - Same thing as above. Both games were okay, nothing special, but yeah, got the high scores on all tables so I'm calling it beat. Aerobiz Supersonic (SNES) - Love me some Koei games, and this is one of the really good ones. Only drawback is that it's super short and super easy to beat. Kinda limits the replay value. Mario's Time Machine (SNES) - Got the best ending. My god this was a slog. Just knocked it off so I never had to fire it up again. That said, it's still better than the NES version :P August: Civilization V (PC) - Finished it with (I believe) Boudicca, marathon game, small map. Love me some Civ! Final Fantasy V Advance (GBA) - One of those games I bought when it came out and just never fired up. So, I fired it up, and kicked it's ass. September: Pure Chess (XBO) - A bit of a grind getting the Grandmaster achievement, but I managed to do it and put this game to bed. Love some chess, but even I have my limits. A great simulation though. Goat Simulator (XBO) - I had more fun with this than I thought I would. Got all the achievements in the base game, and will buy the DLC as soon as I have money to afford it :P Incredible Crash Dummies (NES) - I fired this up not expecting much. I ended up finding a hidden gem. It's got a few flaws, and is a wee bit easy (other than the end boss), but overall I really enjoyed this one! Sunset Overdrive (XBO) - Finished the campaign. Still gunning for the 1000g base game (again, can't afford DLC at the moment), but I'm happy to finally get around to finishing the story!
