It's Secret Santa time again! Here is how it works:

Step 1 Reply to this thread with something like "I'm in" and I will add your name to the list

SIGN UPS FOR SECRET SANTA 2016 ARE CLOSED

Step 2 Send an email to rfgensanta@gmail.com The subject line should look exactly like this:

User Name-Your Country-Country or Countries you are willing to ship to

EXAMPLE If I am in the USA and I am willing to ship to the USA and Canada:

Copy and paste this text for the body of your email and fill in the blanks:

Dear Santa
I’ve been a VERY ___________ boy/girl (choose one) this year, so I feel like I have earned all of the __________ that I will probably get for Christmas from all my family and friends.

But I also want video games.

If I could get just one box of video games and/or video game related items with a total combined value of at least $20 before shipping costs, I would hope that the box would have___________ in it.

Since I am a responsible collector, my entire collection has been meticulously entered on rfgeneration.com (OR i is entered at this location: [link to your collection here]) so that you can see what I already have.  You can also check my RFGeneration wishlist to see what I really want more than anything in the whole wide __________.

Please remember to send out my domestic package by December 10th or my international package by December 1st so that I don’t receive my package late and have to resort to _________________ on Christmas morning.

A note on writing your letter

As far as your wishlist goes, Be as specific as you want or as general as you want just remember that the more options you give your Santa, the easier you will be to shop for.  Say things like:

I would like any NES carts not already in my collection

or

I would love to get some spare controllers for NES, SNES, Genesis, or Saturn.

or

I would really like to get any of the following SNES games: x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, etc.

Add as much room as you need, you don't have to say what you would like to get in just a few words.

Step 3
Once your package arrives, or on Christmas morning, post pics of your Secret Santa package here (and in Small Scores if you like)

The MINIMUM value of the items you must send to your Secret Santa is $20. You may give more if you choose, but $20 is the minimum.  There have been issues in years past with people feeling a little short changed so if you are unsure about what you are sending, give a little more, after all, it’s Christmas!

Due to the scams of years past, The RFGen Secret Santa 2016 is available to established RFGen members OR to anyone who has an established member vouch for them.  If you are unsure if you are an established member, shoot me a PM.

Hey there everyone!  Glad to see packages start to arrive.  Remember, that tomorrow is the recommended ship date for domestic packages to arrive by Christmas.

I love doing the RFGen Secret Santa every year.  Everyone always overdelivers.  And this year was no different.

Many thanks to my Secret Santa, who was likely confused by my request.  You see, I asked for junk.  Junk cartridges to be precise.  And I meant it.

After being on various forums, I've learned that not all carts/games are created equal.  Some collectors are so encumbered by SMB/Duck Hunts and Genesis Madden games that they see them as a nuisance and drop them off at electronics recyclers in frustration.

I think this is a shame.  I can always make use of worthless cartridges.  The most fun I have with them is dropping them in the "leave something, take something" bins at MAGfest.  I'm pretty sure a copy of Tech Deck Skateboarding I left in one ended up as a mystery prize at last year's charity auction.

Anyway, faced with this odd request, my Secret Santa came through with flying colors.

I went out of my way to buy a Power-Joy system on ebay just to get this weirdo cart.  Very excited to have a loose cart, as now I can get rid of the full system set to a good home.

NFL Quarterback Club '99 (N64)

WWF War Zone (N64)

More bargain bin fodder.  I've gotten NFL Quarterback Club '99 for as low as a quarter.  These are very appreciated as giveaway fodder.

Pokemon Blue (GB)

I was shocked to see a Pokemon cart in here.  Maybe the battery's busted or the cart is blown, I haven't checked it, but it's still very generous.  I may actually try (again) to get through Generation 1 Pokemon.

Virtual League Baseball (VB)

I was even more floored to get a Virtual Boy game, especially one I don't own!  I was already more than happy with that I got, but this will be a true addition to my collection.  It was so perfect I checked my perfunctory 2016 Secret Santa Wishlist to see if I had it listed there.  I didn't.  Just amazing.

Target Renegade (NES)

Oh, good ol' Nintender Tapes.  I like Target Renegade, and I like ugly carts.  A match made in heaven.

A crocheted PokeBall

A Skull Kid (w/Majora's Mask) figurine

Pretty cool little throw-ins.  Perhaps a calling card of my Secret Santa, but I'm bad at figuring such things out.  The crocheted PokeBall is just the neatest.

Another great year of RFGen Secret Santa.  I only hope, as always, that my recipient is as happy as I am.

The extras part 1. Love the N64 lanyard. The N logo sticker is going on the back of my car. Hopefully it will weather the elements for a good while. The mario tin will find company with my Pac-Man ghost tins. Also I had no idea that thing was a pin until I looked at the back. It's enormous lol

Extras part 2. I LOVE these. Not sure whether to open the packs or not. But they're easily one of the coolest gifts I've gotten in a while. The catalog booklet is going to be awesome 15-20 years down the line. A while ago I was linked some scans of mid 90s Toys R Us video game flyers and man are they super nostalgic.

A very nice stack of N64 games. They're already cleaned, end-labeled and snug on my shelf. Glad to cross some sports games off the list. Robotron looks pretty cool too and I need to give it a go soon. I looked up the '98 Winter Olympics the other night and was surprised to find out they were held in Nagano, Japan. Very fitting for the season. This also led to me watching a bunch of 90s MTV commercials. Thanks, Youtube.

This year I thought I would do an unboxing video.  I was REALLY stoked with the goodies I got this year. My Secret Santa was really awesome and found some great stuff off my wishlist.  Not sure who my Secret Santa was this year, but sincerely, THANK YOU SO MUCH for the wonderful gifts.

P.S. After the video, I noticed that not only did my SS go to the trouble of wrapping the gifts, but the wrapping paper is incredible!  Star Wars light saber wrapping paper FTW!

He didn't find 1, but 3 Atlus games I was still missing! The biggest hole in my Atlus collection is definitely on the handheld side. Really thrilled with the game choices. And I've actually bought a few of these Street Fighter backpack clips hoping for the elusive Zangief. I've been disappointed several times over with Ken. Apparently I just needed to Rich to pick one out ;)

This was an amazing and unexpected gift and I owe a big thanks to more than one member.

I'll start with my match, Shadow Kisuragi.

As a big fan of the game of hockey, I am always on the lookout for CIB hockey video games and I thought that would be an easy target for my secret santa match so all I asked for was hockey games.  My match identified himself on the package (which was no problem because I run the SS and knew who my match was anyways ;) and did an admirable job providing me with several complete hockey games that I needed.

Interesting side note:  This is actuallythe second copy of NHL 13 that I have received from Shadow.  My first copy of NHL 13 was the steelbox Stanley Cup Edition that I got from him when I visited him in Florida in 2012.  But these hockey games aren't the reason I was shocked when I saw what else was in the package.  Something that has eluded me for years was nestled underneath the hockey games.  If you look closely, you can see it right before my son throws all of the games on the floor.  The video ends a little abruptly, my wife stopped recording by accident.

That's right.  Spider Man Web of Fire is in my possession.  I am now the proud owner of a Complete US 32X set.  From the letter that Ray included (that I left at my parents house today but will add a picture of when I put my hands on it again) it was clear that this was a group effort.  Shadow said in the letter that when some rfgenners found out he was selling his copy of Web of Fire that they should try to go in on it together to help me complete my 32X set.  I have thanked some members individually and I will be reaching out to more of them to express my gratitude as they are reveled to me.  To all of my friends who pitched in let me tell you that I really don't know what to say.  I can't tell you what a thrill it is to complete this set that seems quirky to most but has always held a special place in my gaming heart.  Thank you so very much.

Good stuff!  Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare is a really good game if you're into classic survival horror.

I haven't spent a lot of time with the horror genre so I'm looking forward to it.  ;D

Nuts & Milk is a great Fami title!

Started collecting Fami last year but haven't had a chance to get a console and play any of them yet.  bickman2k reminded me I might have an adventure finding out how to hook one up here in the US.  Adding to the to-do list!
