Title: Car boot sale haulage
Post by: thx1138 on June 12, 2005, 04:32:24 AM
mrs.thx scored a very good condition issue 1 16k Spectrum. Much harder to find than a 48k one in the wild. for £6.50

and a Megadrive mk2 for £3 with Ghouls n Ghosts boxed, Alladin boxed, Sonic copmilation loose, Castle of Illusion boxed (pirate?)

and I got a mk2 Master system for £6 with an arcade stick, a megadrive controller
boxed games, Running Battle, Sonic 2, Italia 90, Olympic Gold, Castle of Illusion

and a few other bits and pieces not worth listing here.

Not bad at all!  Those are the kinds of finds that add up after a while.

I think the significance of the 16k Spectrum loses a bit in translation.

It's the Speccy equivalent of an Atari Heavy Sixer, but more so. :)

Well, my 16k would equate to finding both at a flea market on the same day. :)

I think you mean the Commodore 16, though I think the Commodore 116 is the really rare one. I have a 16 and till I bought it never even heard of it.

Commodore 16's are plentiful   here, as are the plus fours.

the Plus 4 was mentioned in the article I was reading too. It said the 16, 116, and plus 4 were all supposed to be a cheap upgrade of the VIC-20 for those who didn't want to fork over the cost of the C 64. They bombed here as the C 64 had already supplanted the VIC-20 before the 16's even came out.
