Title: Re: Spec Ops: The Line - Modern Playthrough - August 2015 Post by: Disposed Hero on August 01, 2015, 03:00:38 PM I added the checkpoints for the entire month. The game is pretty short and can usually be completed in about 5-6 hours, so I would just recommend playing at your own pace. Just be mindful of the spoilers because knowing too much too soon could really spoil the game for some people.
Title: Re: Spec Ops: The Line - Modern Playthrough - August 2015 Post by: GrayGhost81 on August 05, 2015, 04:27:44 PM We need some more participants for this playthrough. This game is pretty awesome and can be had for super cheap. If you had PS+ a little over a year ago, it may already be in your download queue.
The themes and tone of this game could potentially make for some excellent discussion and analysis. Don't leave all the fun to us. Please join in! Yeah, the game is great. I've already finished it and am halfway through a second playthrough so I can hopefully make better sense of the story. Believe it or not, Spec Ops: The Line reminds me more of Silent Hill 2 than any other game because of some of the thematic similarities. Also, word of warning Shawn, but my notes on the game so far are almost 2 pages long.... Title: Re: Spec Ops: The Line - Modern Playthrough - August 2015 Post by: ericeskapade on August 08, 2015, 02:53:22 AM uh, similarities to SH2, that sounds interresting. i will do most of the gaming in the mid of this month. we have the hottest temperatures ever recorded in germany, and my flat in the attic is feeling like hot dubai sand would swish right through it any monent :)
Title: Re: Spec Ops: The Line - Modern Playthrough - August 2015 Post by: ericeskapade on August 16, 2015, 12:53:07 PM how do you progress? i played to chapter 4 in the second of the four difficulty-grades. The music and graphic is very good. but me playing the game is it not :) unfamillyar with shooters i often panic and struggle with the controls. Resulting in one epic jump over a box, and catching a bullet storm by pressing the wrong button, when i rather wanted to take cover behind it. i also struggle with running from grenades. but I also like them very much to use them myself :) I am lokking forward for the next chapters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzVAAPvo_10
Title: Re: Spec Ops: The Line - Modern Playthrough - August 2015 Post by: Disposed Hero on August 16, 2015, 01:50:58 PM Yeah, the game can be difficult at times. Honestly, by third-person shooter standards, the gameplay of this game isn't the best. Lower the difficulty to the easiest setting if you have to, because the story is really what this game is about. The story still probably feels like generic military stuff in Chapter 4, but give it a few more chapters and it will start to take some interesting twists and turns.
Hehe, that video you posted reminds me a lot of a friend of mine when we play shooters together. He's terrible at throwing grenades :P Title: Re: Spec Ops: The Line - Modern Playthrough - August 2015 Post by: ericeskapade on August 27, 2015, 07:14:11 PM still playing...now chapter 10. How did you like the aqua-sports-center, the level where you had to secure the water-trucks?
BTW: what do you use for the podcasts? just skype and some sort of recording-programm? Title: Re: Spec Ops: The Line - Modern Playthrough - August 2015 Post by: MaterialHandlerMike on August 27, 2015, 11:32:43 PM Skype and Audacity
Title: Re: Spec Ops: The Line - Modern Playthrough - August 2015 Post by: Disposed Hero on August 28, 2015, 08:46:45 AM The coliseum where you steal the water trucks can be a bit frustrating. It's very easy for enemies to get behind you and flank you. Overall I enjoyed that section. It is a very intense firefight. I also liked the part after where you're given a grenade launcher. :)
Skype and Audacity Yes, we use Skype for our discussions and use Audacity to record our audio. Title: Re: Spec Ops: The Line - Modern Playthrough - August 2015 Post by: techwizard on August 28, 2015, 02:13:04 PM sorry i missed this one, it looks awesome. i added it to my WTB list and will try it out someday. i should be joining you guys for one of the upcoming games, Gravity Rush for sure but i might consider Metal Gear Solid as well.
Title: Re: Spec Ops: The Line - Modern Playthrough - August 2015 Post by: Disposed Hero on August 28, 2015, 02:34:59 PM It's definitely a nice hidden gem. Whenever you get around to playing it, I would advise you to go into it knowing as little as possible. This game goes in some very unexpected directions, and knowing too much will ruin the surprises.
Unfortunately this means I would advise you not to listen to our upcoming Spec Ops podcast segment until after you've finished the game because we spoil all of the fun surprises. :P |
