Title: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: Tynstar on May 17, 2005, 03:29:51 PM With the Nintendo Revolution having the entire Nintendo library available online do you think that will hurt the value of NES games?
I am not sure if it will but was windering what you people think. I don't think people pay hundreds of dollars to play an old NES game. They spend it just to have it in thier collection. Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: Lord Nepenthean on May 17, 2005, 04:14:08 PM Hmm.... Maybe if Capcom and Square jump on the bandwagon and put their games online too, that will drive the insanely high prices for classic MegaMan and Final Fantasy games down.... which in my opinion would be a good thing. They're really not that valuable or rare, but everyone wants them so it could lift the demand. Remember Final Fantasy Tactics? The prices for that game bombed the day the Greatest Hits version came out. I would be happy if that happens with classic Square RPG's and Capcom shooters.
As for other games.... I doubt it. Bubble Bath Babes and the 6-in-1's will still be just as rare, and most of the NES games that Nintendo themselves will be making available haven't ever been worth much of anything in the first place. Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: Sureshot on May 17, 2005, 05:19:21 PM Emulation has been around for donkeys of course, which has never hurt anything much. At the end of the day, there's nothing like owning the original article.
Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: Izret101 on May 18, 2005, 03:43:22 AM Yup and yup.
I don't think this will really affect the prices of anything much. This is a totally different scenario than the GH games because that was an actualy physical version of the game. These will just be a virtual copy. Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: Arrrhalomynn on May 18, 2005, 04:36:18 AM But there's emulation and emulation. If you can play it on a nintendo console on the tv and it's officially approved by nintendo, it's a lot different than when you play it on your pc after you've downloaded it.
Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: bum-man on May 18, 2005, 05:33:00 AM Even if some give up on collecting because of the games available on Revolution, others may start after seeing it and being reminded of the systems and games they played years ago. In the end it will be a wash.
Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: Sauza12 on May 18, 2005, 07:28:25 AM The funny thing about this is that one of my friends and I were watching E3 coverage on G4 when they announced this and our conversation went something like this.
S=my friend M=Me S- Oh man, that's cool as hell. M- Yeah, it is pretty cool but I probably have most of the game sthat would be available for download. S- Yeah, but anytime we thought about how cool an older game was, we could just download it and play it. M- I wonder if its going to cost as much as all of the GBA reissues. S- Hmmm. Maybe I'll just play them on the GBA instead. While I appreciate what they are trying to do, that is what they have been doing with the GBA for the last year or two. That really hasn't affected the prices of those games so I doubt this will either. Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: Tynstar on May 18, 2005, 07:31:21 AM I am only talking the really rare games. Effect those prices. The games that have been released for teh GBA have all been the common ones.
And your friend said he would rather play them on a GBA then a TV  Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: Sauza12 on May 18, 2005, 07:32:39 AM Maybe you're forgetting the GBA player for the Gamecube.
Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: Izret101 on May 18, 2005, 11:12:33 AM The verdict is in.
Or is it?? I walked into Algebra 2 class only to hear half the class babbling about playing Mario 2 on the Nintendo Revolution. Seems that the casual gamer is going to love this. Are these going to be free or are you going to have to pay for them or what? Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: den68 on May 18, 2005, 12:16:12 PM uh, you could have put that all in one post. still would not have made sense.
Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: The Metamorphosing Leon on May 18, 2005, 01:45:47 PM I love bubble bath babes. ::)
Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: Tynstar on May 18, 2005, 03:46:17 PM Quote Maybe you're forgetting the GBA player for the Gamecube. You just said GBA not GBA player. Hell I hate handhelds and I want a GBA player. Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: Sureshot on May 18, 2005, 05:17:30 PM BBB is actually quite a tough little puzzle game :P
Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: Sureshot on May 18, 2005, 05:18:12 PM I mean... I would never play such filth...
Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: Lord Nepenthean on May 18, 2005, 06:13:32 PM It may be tough, but it is absolutely horrible. Go rate it so it gets on the bottom 25 list soon.
Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: thx1138 on May 19, 2005, 01:50:37 PM I think that "they" will stamp down harder and more vigoruusly on multi-carts etc on eBay now.
Title: Re: Entire Nintendo library online Post by: danvx6 on May 21, 2005, 07:34:02 AM I think that this is the best idea ever, Nintedo gets almost all of its steam for non-gba systems from nostalgic fanboys, and what fanboy would not go crazy over the ability to play older games? I definitely look forward to playing my old SNES favorites, especially Earthbound (because it is now impossible to find) but not really any NES games because all of the good ones have been remade for GBA as you guys said. Also it will be great to play some of the GOOD N64 games without having the disgraceful system in my house. (just kidding, but i can count the games i really liked on the N64 with one hand) and prices wil not change much IMO because i think that most collectors would much rather have the real cartridge than a virtual copy
