Title: GB Goes Micro Post by: TraderJake on May 17, 2005, 02:12:20 PM Hey, the GBA has turned into a cash cow! Wait, you say it already was? No Matter.
Introducing version 3 of the Game Boy Advance, the Game Boy Micro. Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: shadytool on May 17, 2005, 07:07:21 PM i WILL buy this. (you sexy little nes controller you)
and a DS. Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: Lord Nepenthean on May 17, 2005, 07:34:28 PM That thing does look really cool, but once again, I'd like to see Nintendo come out with a bit of a bigger bang than another re-make of something we already have.
Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: shadytool on May 17, 2005, 07:47:48 PM agree also... think that the new revolution controller is the next GBA?
i've read that rumor quite a few times already. nintendo loves to milk their hardware tho... Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: Tynstar on May 17, 2005, 08:32:02 PM They have to milk the hardware since they dont have a ton of games to milk.
I hope this Nintendo system does really will. The controller could make or break the system. I think the last 2 controllers have sucked. Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: Zimbacca on May 17, 2005, 09:17:02 PM It is pretty cool, but I'm probably not going to get it. Mostly due to lack of funds.
Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: Arrrhalomynn on May 18, 2005, 12:52:19 AM It's sad the measurments of the thing aren't known, because it doesn't look very comfortable to hold for a longer time. Small looks cool and all, but I rather have something with a little bit more grip.
Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: shadytool on May 18, 2005, 03:15:35 AM arrr i think it is 4 inches wide x 2 inches high. with a 2 inch screen.
a hair larger than a mini-iPod. Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: Arrrhalomynn on May 18, 2005, 04:35:02 AM Way too small to be comfortable for a longer period. Nice gimmick though. How thick is it?
Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: Tynstar on May 18, 2005, 07:28:25 AM Quote arrr i think it is 4 inches wide x 2 inches high. with a 2 inch screen. a hair larger than a mini-iPod. But dint you put the ipod in your pocket and listen to music? Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: Sauza12 on May 18, 2005, 07:30:03 AM Depending on the price of this thing when it's released I might get one. Of course I still haven't bought an SP yet, so I could just be talking out of my ass.
Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: den68 on May 18, 2005, 10:29:46 AM I'll probably pick one up too. any word on price? will it be backlit like the SP?
and I too still need a DS, though I'm waiting to buy one till Animal Crossing comes out. Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: Sauza12 on May 18, 2005, 11:38:25 AM It is going to be backlit, but they haven't announced a price yet. Hopefully it will be lower than $100.
Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: Lord Nepenthean on May 18, 2005, 01:19:53 PM They announced today that this will probably come out sometime between late summer and fall. Knowing Nintendo, I'm counting on fall.
Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: TraderJake on May 18, 2005, 06:05:44 PM I don't intend on buying one, but it does look nice. But, I think the SP is very much satisfactory, and it even fits in my pocket, just like the Micro!
Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: CatchFiveBats on May 18, 2005, 06:37:31 PM It's a nice gimmick, but I agree with Arrr. It doesn't look like it would be too comfortable for extended play. Then again, I'll probably get it anyway. I'm crazy like that.
Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: den68 on May 19, 2005, 06:42:56 AM Quote I don't intend on buying one, but it does look nice. But, I think the SP is very much satisfactory, and it even fits in my pocket, just like the Micro! good point. and when the SP is in your pocket it's closed and the screen is protected. not so with the micro. I've never had a problem scuffing up my screens but I have picked up a few Gameboys and Game Gears that have scratched screens. Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: KingChris85 on May 19, 2005, 01:03:02 PM I think that the new gameboy, well kind of, sucks. It is really small and don't get me wrong, I do like Nintendo. My assumption is that Nintendo released the Game Boy Micro, to prove a point that many people confuse: the fact that the DS is NOT another gameboy, it is a whole system in itself. I believe the main reason that Nintendo released the GBM was to prove that point. I also think this system is designed for small hands, because of the size. Just think about it: do you really want to dish out $100 for a new version of something everyone allready has not once, but three times? (counting the fact that you CAN play gameboy games on the DS.)
Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: TraderJake on May 19, 2005, 02:51:53 PM I noticed that during Nintendo's press conference they called their portable dominance by 2 1/2:1, and when Reggie said that it showed the SP, Micro, and DS. I don't think the SP is going to go anywhere, for the reason that the Micro is tiny, and not all people want tiny. Their presentation hinted at that, and I bet come fall that is what we shall see.
Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: danvx6 on May 21, 2005, 08:54:06 PM the only advantage the Micro has to the SP is that the screen is backlit instead of frontlit. a frontlit screen slightly washes out the colors, but seriously, with a 2 inch screen who's gonna notice that the image is sharper. I think the GBA SP was small enough, I've never had a problem fitting it in my pockets (probably because I don't wear women's jeans lol). The only market I can see actually having a micro is little kids. I can see countless Micros going through the wash (ask izret about some of the things he's lost over the years). And removable faceplates? No one buys those... The GBA Micro has got to be the STUPIDEST thing Nintendo has EVER done, and if I'm saying this -- a Nintendo fanboy ruled only by nostaligia -- it must be REALLY bad.

Stupid Cartridges. Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: Vladimir on May 25, 2005, 12:35:48 PM It's pretty cool looking. I won't be buying one though. I'd still have my fiirst model one if my brother hadn't given me his SP.
But hey, it's putting more money into Nintendo's pocket, so I'm fine with that. I think "Faces of Evil" is a very fitting title. Title: Re: GB Goes Micro Post by: Lord Nepenthean on May 30, 2005, 03:20:58 PM Hahaha. Yeah, I haven't played them either, but only want to so that I can see them for the historical perspective.
