Title: I got the kids hooked! Post by: shaggy on April 05, 2015, 07:14:05 AM I got my 3 and 5 year old hooked on the original Zelda! It's a great day for the gaming community (or maybe not)! They keep asking to play it.

I'm thrilled they are into it as everyone knows the NES is the best still ever! Title: Re: I got the kids hooked! Then we call the authorities. ;) Title: Re: I got the kids hooked! Post by: mumboking on April 06, 2015, 08:37:40 AM Until we discover Shaggy thought the CD-I Zeldas were the originals. Thank you, thank you! Title: Re: I got the kids hooked! Post by: singlebanana on April 06, 2015, 01:02:40 PM My kids are still a little hesitant to grab the sticks and play, but really love holding controllers while watching me play. My daughter is an EXTREME perfectionist and gets angry if she can't do something on the first try. I'm working with her and hope to get her playing some SMB again soon. Kudos to you and your kids!

Now you're just being mean..... :P Title: Re: I got the kids hooked! Post by: Zagnorch on April 07, 2015, 09:10:23 AM You better pray the young'uns don't get caught up in Skylanders. I'm thrilled they are into it as everyone knows the NES is the best still ever! I must admit, I'm intrigued by the Lego release. I wanna see what they'll bring to the table in the gameplay innovation department. While Skylanders was the first success in "toys-to-life" video games, thanks to increasing competition and new gameplay gimmicks, ActiVision & Toys For Bob are really gonna hafta step up their game for Skylanders 5. The oldest said today that he wants to have kids so he can show them how to play Zelda himself! Wait... your kid wants kids of his own young'uns some day? But then he won't have nearly as much time to play Zelda! Sounds like he's got severe masochistic tendencies. You'd better get him committed ASAP, before he inflicts any more self-harm. Remember and heed these wise words: "Children are our future... unless we stop them right now." 'Late Title: Re: I got the kids hooked! I'm looking forward to that day here. My oldest (4) has recently gotten into Sonic 2 a bit, although she gets frustrated with games fairly quickly. Unfortunately she appears to have my wife's gaming skills.Title: Re: I got the kids hooked! LOL, I could say the same for my wife! When we were heavily into the original PlayStation, she'd get stuck on some deal in a Spyro game and just hand me the controller to take care of it for her. Nevermind that I hadn't played 50% of the game up to that point, I was just "better" at games than she was, so she assumed I could figure it out and pass that spot for her. After about 12 tries, I usually did. Congrats on getting your kids interested in a classic. I did that with some of my previous foster kids, got them started on SMB, Contra, etc. Unfortunately, the boy we've had most recently wants nothing to do with retro stuff because it's too hard. All he wants to play is Mario Kart 8 :P |
