Title: Gameroom Upgrade
Post by: Ghost Soldier on January 01, 2015, 12:31:31 AM
I'm looking at possibly redoing my gameroom this spring.  I have the typical gameroom with a few shelves, TV, couch, and desk.  Looking at gutting the room, rewiring, and adding a second window.  Anyone else planning a major gameroom overhaul ?  A few years back I attempted to document this through a blog.  At the time I was adding a storage room to the garage to hold the games. This was around the time the site crashed for awhile and had to be restored from an older backup.  I might attempt to document this in a blog.  Looking for any ideas on clever storage solutions, or anything you can think of.

Current pictures of the game room.  The bulk of my 5000+ collection sits in the garage.

I'm always a fan of built-in shelving. I had an idea to use shelving with rails bolted to the floor to allow for sliding shelving, so that I could double-stack shelves without a backing, but scratched that after I decided to use the entire room as a library instead of a storage/game room.

A couple of built in shelves could work in the room.  I never considered the idea of adding a sliding shelf that could move over the built in shelves.  Might be a good way to hide some of the more valuable stuff by making the slider look like a fixed shelf when its over the built-in.

A small update on the new game room progress.  I switched to a smaller room in the house that was more suitable.  My son took over the larger old game room.  So far, the room has been painted, cleaned and decorated.  Still need to add some final touches like trim, door, and custom frames around the marquees.  Can anyone guess the movie on the t.v. ?

nice man should be a blast to re-do it. I would def say go with custom bookcases to hold the games. Feel free to check out my video of the ones I did. its the most cost effective way to get storage since you build it to fit the room and the games.
