I have Alien Soldier for the megadrive. It's pretty hard to find.

I dont know , maybe my complete Caltron 6 in 1 ? I have a loose one as well.

I also have a Starfox Super Weekend cart for SNES.

A boxed Flintstones Suprise at Dinosaur Peak for NES.

Factory sealed Cheetahmen 2....

I think the loose Caltron 6 in 1 and Starfox are my best finds because I got them in the wild.

Also have an orignal Dragonball GT final bout U.S. version for the PSX...

I think I have a rare game...I have this game for the Odyssey 2....it says Power Lords on it...from what I hear, that's kinda hard to find.... ;)

i dont think i have any really rare games, but finding Final Fantasy Chronicles was a bitch (the original Square copy, not the Square-Enix re-release)

Lets see.  I don't have anything that rare, but I have a couple harder to find games for a few systems.

For the Genesis it is probably MUSHA, although Genesis and rare aren't exactly two words you hear together very often.

For SNES it would probably be the Math Blasters that I just picked up.  The only other SNES game that I have that is higher than a 5 is Spankys quest.

For Atari 2600 it's Ram it.  It's a damn fun game as well.

I also have Dragon Warrior 4 for NES, but I don't think that game is as rare as some people think.

Swordquest Waterworld for the 2600. I got it for 50 cents. I've got quite a few hard to finds but nothing approaching grail status.

To be honest, I don't have anything that's really rare in my collection, but that's not what I'm into collecting for.  At least, not right now.

I'm mainly working on a complete Neo Geo Pocket Color collection, but I only have 3 games for it at the moment (there are 32 in all).

I don't collect for rarity either. But during the hunt I have found some nice stuff.

Well, it's not worth all that much, but technically it is still rarer than anything else that has been mentioned so far - I have the CInciClassic Edition of CyberVirus, released in 2001 by Songbird for Lynx.  There are 25 in existence.

Other than that, I don't really have any super rare games.  I doubt I have any single games that are worth over $100, though I have some over the $60 or $70 mark.  That Japanese O2 game I picked up yesterday is also pretty darn rare, but rarity on something like that is very hard to judge, and as an O2 import, it won't claim a very high price, no matter how rare it is.

I think my rarest consoles are a Sears Video Arcade II (identical to the Atari 2800, except that the faceplate is different) and a complete Telegames 2-in-1 (identical to the Dina 2-in-1 except that the box is different).  I got those at separate times for a combined cost of something like $65 I think.  Still, nothing super uber rare with either of those.

So yeah, I don't have anything that valuable....  Nothing like some of you do.

Sometimes rarest and most expensive can be 2 different things....

Starfox Super Weekend = R9 .... Last sold for around 300

Complete Caltron 6 in 1 = R8 last sold for around 300
previously 271 was the high by me.

Cheetahmen 2 (factory sealed) = R9 and sells for around 200 every time.

I pretty much have garbage.
I have maybe one or 2 r7 games.
One of them is Venice Beach Volleyball for NES.

So you have a lot of Nintendo stuff!

I guess. I haven't tried to get anything rare yet. I'm a budget game hunter. Just about all the games in my collection not purchased new were purchased for less than $10 dollars. I did pay a little more for Suikoden II and Tactics Ogre for PS1 but even those I got for less than $30.

Same with my consoles. The only ones that cost me more than $100 were my PS2 and Xbox. I got my Game cube real cheap by trading in a bunch of NES's at Gamestop.

To me a grail is not a grail if you dropped a wad on it. Like that Adventurevision, if I found it at a garage sale for $5 bucks after years of sesarching it's something to brag about. If I dropped $2500 on it on ebay big deal, I'm just rich or stupid. Nothing is that hard to get if you've got deep pockets.

I agree with that. The only game I spent a lot of money on was Spider Man Web of Fire for the 32X. And that was so I could have a complete library.

Bought both of them for 15-20 bucks each in a newsgroup around 8 years ago (also bought a complete mint Maxi-15 AVE version for 20 dollars there :)).  

I also have this Honey Bee converter that looks quite a bit different than the known common Famicom-to-NES converters released by Honey Bee and others.   I mention this item, because Honey Bee is known for its converters, which were/are quite popular, and yet I've never seen any mention of this particular converter anywhere (plus it looks more unique ;)).  I added a small pic of the converter to this post.  As you can see, this converter is called "Family Adaptor" instead of "Family Converter" which is what the more common half-cartridge sized Honey Bee converters are called. :)

I think my rarest Items are a complete euro-version of Stack Up for NES as I never saw this gaming for sale on ebay. Other rarities are some of the NGP games, especially the b/w versions of Baseball Stars and Samuarai Shodown with English box and manual. For MD i own Daze before Christmas is also hard to find.

Depends on where everyone got their copies...where did you guys get your copies?  I got mine, as mentioned earlier, from a guy in a newsgroup about 8 years ago, for a nice low price between 15-20 dollars.  :)

Thats just it though. Most big collectors of NES will probably have this game factory sealed.

I have not seen it on ebay in a while. I got lucky enough to get mine from a dp member for a price which I will not disclose :P

Just like most big collectors have a factory sealed Aladdin Deck Enhancer with all of the games released for it in brand new condition, yet this is more common than Cheetahmen II.  ;)

Well, I think that anyone who owns a copy of this game knows how rare it is & is not likely going to open it up.  Also, from what I heard this game was NEVER released in stores...thus keeping it hidden from the audience that would open it without a second thought.  The copies that were produced and placed somewhere in inventory were then sold directly to the audience that knows its rarity and value.  I've never heard of anyone who has an opened copy of this game (well, attained a loose copy to put it that way...I know that there's people who opened their factory sealed copy to try out the game)...since it's pretty much impossible to find it in the open to begin with.  

Last, but not least ;), I noticed that NES seems to be the system of choice for most collectors on this site, thus increasing the likeliness of board members having a rare NES collectible in their collection ;)

damn if that story is true it sounds like a manufactured rarity. "sold only to the audience that knows it's rarity and value". and everyone who has one has a sealed copy. forget Duck Hunt it's probably just a box full of rocks.

But it does seem like you can get one relatively easily if your willing to drop a wad of cash for it.

I've played that game via emulation, and I can assure you that it's NOT woth opening up.  Heck, even if you had it loose and opened, I still wouldn't bother taking the time to put it in the NES to play.  It's really, really awful.

For those dying to know what the contents of the Cheetahmen II box look like, I found this pic in my database...not sure where I ripped it from, and it's not the best quality pic, but at least it gives you a decent idea ;)

I wonder why that slip makes referacen to the Action 52?

They probably printed too many of those for the Action 52 and wanted to save costs with Cheetahmen II ;)  The only thing "worthy" of their products is their rarity & the cool transparent cartridges ;)  I guess the artwork of the Cheetahmen II box isn't too bad either...

Thought I would bump this topic and see if anybody had new "grails".

According to DP my copy of Outlaw Golf Holiday golf is a R8 making it the rarest game i own and the one of cheapest game i have store purchased.

I might as well go thru and find out if i have anything else that might be creeping up in value.

I have others, like boxed Boing! & Berenstain Bears, & Bounty Bob Strikes Back, but they no fit into that box. I recently moved, so most are packed away, just took a few of my more desirables out and into their separate box, so I wouldn't loose track of them.  All are NTSC by the way, including Asterix 8)  


Back to the subject of Cheetahman 2, I'd wager a good 25-40% are still sealed. This game was not sold in stores, it was sold at some trade show along with Action 52, And most that bought, probably hung onto in the same condition they purchased in. Probably for the best! ;)

I actually found a pair of boxes to this game around a year or so ago on ebay, I won the lot fairly cheap, but bid for some Atari boxes, not the Nes crap :P I sold the Cheetahmen to the runner up in the auction.   They were two nice minty Cheetahmen boxes, I wish I could find that picture again!

You really do have an incredible collection of rarities there.  I'm not much of a 2600 guy myself, but I'm no fool.  That stuff is amazing.  I always knew you had a great collection, but damn!  Congrats on your (still) great collection.

If that Cheetahmen 2 isn't sealed, I would love to see some pictures of it, as I'm sure everyone else would.  If you've got a digital camera/scanner, it would be super-cool of you to take a picture/scan of the Cheetahmen 2 cartridge & manual and submit them to the site.  But that's just a suggestion.

I wish, I think if I recall correctly, I spent just a hair over $300 on my Glib on ebay..  Sean Mcgrail won the copy for $5 on a BIN some time back, not sure if he still has that or not.. Seems most of his items get resold shortly there after.

thank you. i've been working on adding my games into the my collection database. this is such a great database! i really like how it has the option to see who else has/wants/selling & trading the game.

I have 3 games that are rare or at least interesting additions to my collection

1) Psychic Detective - PS1- My rarest game based stricly on the DP guide.
2) Pre 9/11 Spiderman 2 - PS1 - This has the orginal game content before it was stopped during production in order to change some levels after Sep 11.
3) MSR Opel Challenge - DC - A white label PAL demo of a game that was never produced.

How can you tell that it is the pre 9-11?
Anything external or you can only tell by playing thru the game?

You would have to play through the game in order to tell which version it is.  They changed the names of 3 levels and modified the environment of the last level.  My version takes place on the top of 2 buildings that are almost identical to the WTC.

The pre 9/11 version (mine anyways) came as a disc only.  Fully printed and itdentical to the altered retail version.

My most rare games are Suikoden II, Klonoa, Harvest Moon 64, and Ogre Battle :SE.
Truthfuly I do not have any ultra rare games.

I got myself Mega Man the Wily Wars for the Mega Drive today. That's a pretty hard to find game.

Atari 2600 Atlantis II  

So rare it's not even listed in the database here!

The greatest challenge in finding this game is the fact that it is identical to a regular Atlantis label with the night scene. So unless you test it out or know the history of the cart it's impossible to tell, whether it's a rarity or dirt common.

I've included the back scan on mine, as it's rather interesting. The sticker back there most likely came from the box itself! Original Atlantis boxes were used for these games, but Imagic added a white sticker with typed text "ATLANTIS II" on the front of the box to identify them. I believe the original owner of this cart peeled the sticker off the box & transfered it to the back side of this cart.

I've also included a screenshot from my cart in action on my tv. Gamewise it's the same as the first, but much harder. Scoring is a dead giveaway for whether it is a Atlantis I or II.  All of the boxes created in the 4, 6, 8, & 9 are filled in & the numbers are slimmer in Atlantis II.

Also I figured while I have the scanner kicking, I'd scan in Condor Attack (http://members.cox.net/atari77/condor%20attack.jpg) This was my reason for bidding on the lot that contained the Atlantis II!   Got the pair for $11 on ebay!

I'm almost pissed, cuz I had already added in Condor Attack & the picture label Maze to my collection list (http://members.cox.net/atari77/2600haves.htm) then he slips an Atlantis II in the mix & now I need to update it again!

Honestly the front scan which is the same as the first Atlantis should be up there. The back of my cart has a sticker, but most of the known copies do not. The sticker was on the box when it shipped, and most copies are now missing the box & sticker. FND of these boards had purchased a copy with the box, where the sticker had fallen off. He later contacted the guy who sold them to the guy he bought from, and was able to get his sticker back, (as original owner found it) but then FND went & lost it after he received it!  LOL  There are 8 reported copies of Atlantis II on the AA boards & I believe only one copy is still with the sticker, which is the box scan up on AA database. I believe all other copies have parted ways from their original box, and the little white sticker.  If FND ever relocates his sticker, he can send it to the new owner of his copy of Atlantis II he sold, and that would make 2 others, but for now, it may just be mine & the one of the5thghost on Atariage with original stickers. So I think the sticker on the back of my cart is important, but still this is not the norm for this game to have the sticker on back, it should have been on the box. The original owner of my cart apparently never kept any of his boxes.  ::)  But I can live with what I found.  |D

Odyssey 2 - Power Lords CIB
Intellvision - Congo Bongo C
Intellivision - Fathom C (getting as X-mas gift, but it's in my house)

Sonic Adventure 2 Birthday Pack, complete (again, was sealed...sorry), part of a trade for Mario Party 5 in lieu of the US Sonic Adventure 2 (trader couldn't find it)

Not sure what my rarest thing is.. One of my favorites is a special Jap edition of Shenmue.. Its called Shenmue US (In a pretty pink box) It was released in jap for all the American/english speaking people over there. I have never seen another one...

A little background on that game... It's seemingly a precursor to DDR.. The object is to "outdance" and "copy" Hammer's moves. It's actually a really tough game to beat. I guess I'm just too white *shrug*

Oh and forgot to mention the two (out of three) versions of the Laden Vs. USA handheld I have. Last I checked (while obtaining and shortly after) they were pretty damn hard to come by. The joint that manufactured them was closed down after 3 months from what I heard. If they aren't already rare they sure will be ;)

i have a few R5s for N64, ogre battle person of lordly calibur, bomberman the second attack, and worms Armageddon...not sure about other systems but those are probably about it, i've never intentionally hunted down rare games for any system but n64.

I have had.do have things that were/are worth more money and that i have spent more on but AFAIK this is the lowest production item i have ever owned.

Pretty sure they are kind of rare, I have a couple of the old Atarii 2600 porn games complete in box.

I don't really have anything all that rare, just a great big, nice collection of games.  There are a few pieces that are on the uncommon side that I love like my complete Pitfall 32X with the poster, CIB Power Glove, CIB Mega Man and a few others, but I have none of the super rare games.

I'd have to say that the rarest game in my collection would have to be A-Train for the PlayStation console.  Even when the console was becoming popular was that game hard to find and only one rental store had it at the time.  I tried then to buy the game off the store but they refused to sell it.  It's also the only title in my collection so far that I've spent the most money on.  The game is in its original long cardboard box with all paper work and an unopened starter pack of SimCity playing cards.

Not sure, maybe the Master System version of Mortal Kombat 3 (released only in Brazil).

Right now its my CIB Duck Tales 2. Hope to change that though soon.

For me it would have to by my Cart of Hagena and my copy of Castlevania rondo of blood for the PC engine

i didn't realise in the hunt was rare, i have the longbox version too, but no manual...still, that's probably the only R7 i have then.

handheld game wise rarest i have is Castlevania SOTN... Console wise i guess Ren & Stimpy Fire Dogs for SNES CIB... But is fire dogs still considered rare CIB i paid 37.00 bucks for it about a year ago :D

i have TMNT Tournament Fighters CIB for the NES.  i only started getting serious about collecting a coupler months ago so my collection is pretty sad.

Look at it this way, that is one that I still don't have so you're collection is going in the right direction!

Wild-ish.  A local buddy of mine got it in a group of stuff off Craigslist.  Which, ironically the guy was going to sell to me but my buddy offered him more $ so he backed out.  (My friend didn't know I was trying to get it as well)  Then he ended up selling me a bunch of stuff which included the game.

I have mogul maniac for the Atari 8 bit on cartridge. Amiga title on a romox reprogrammable chip in a romox cart. The label is typed out with the model number. I haven't seen another one but its the centerpiece of my A8 collection. Next to that I would say past finder seems like a tough game to find.

umm, not quite sure whats rarer than the other but I've got Clayfighter Sculptors Cut, loose (N64) and a CIB W/ Poster Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure (32X). Nothing that would make you shit your pants, but I suppose it would be Pitfall.

Well, I HAD a Little Samson, but not anymore. Pitfall CIB with the poster for the 32X, World Series Baseball CIB for 32X are probably my top 2.

Not necessarily rarest, since I have review copies and unreleased games, but one of the rarest released games I can think of would be Cheetahmen II. The other would be the unopened, still in shipping box copy of Kingdoms of Amalur Signature Edition, the same one that Izret owns:

I opened my shipping box up last week when i was debating selling it.
It really is bad ass. I don't remember who signed my statue/poster though.
Both of them were pretty low in the print runs though. I think the artcell/litho/poster(/whatever it is....) was numbered in the 30s.

The next "rarest" thing i have would still definitely be those Namco demos still and the Mortal Kombat II JP(that i have 2 copies of now) has proven to be neither rare nor worth anywhere near what i had initially spent on it. Thanks for artificially inflating prices DP!

If anyone wants to join the cool Mortal Kombat 2 PSX Import club watch eBay they pop up in the 40-60$ range all the time now. I still haven't seen one with a spinecard though.

Also what is Cross Fire like? I've never heard of it before. I assumed a lot of those unreleased games were getting "homebrewed" over the last few years.

I recently sold a copy of The Space Adventure for the Sega CD. I'm assuming it's rare considering the price I got for it.

Top-tier rarity for Sega CD. Taking a guess from previously trends, I'm guessing it sold for ~$90?

It's been semi-rare, but once people became aware of the poster and the lack of auctions with it, it skyrocketed. :'(

I am a CIB snob and I think that is crazy. It is a poster. Box, manual and game and I am good to go.
